11.01.2022 Oh hi there! Mel here; plant lover and the face behind Humble Harvest. For as long as I can remember, I have had a deep love for the natural world - I have a vivid memory of trying to befriend a bee when I was 5 years old - ouch ... The plant world fascinates me every day. I love to watch a tiny seed flourish into something beautiful. I like to observe and learn. Even more, I love that we can use medicinal herbs to support our bodies in so many ways. The very first book I bought myself as a teenager was called ‘The book of magical herbs’. It still sits on my book shelf as a humble reminder of my first love. I followed my heart and studied naturopathy and nutrition, and boy, did I love every minute. One of my favourite parts of my job was pottering around in the dispensary. Even now, when I take a deep smell of sweet chamomile, it takes me right back there. These days, you will still find me surrounded by magical herbs, either in my garden or experimenting with soaps and potions. 01.01.2022 Recently, on holidays I had to use ‘supermarket’ soap. I’m so glad I did. It reminded me of that extremely dry, tight, squeaky clean feeling your skin gets. The one where you have to use moisturiser after to relieve the feeling. I do remember liking that feeling at the time. This is the beauty of using handmade soap, it contains a high percentage of oils, so you are cleansing and conditioning your skin, all in one. ...
