24.01.2022 I love that there’s always a reason our brains do something. Amazing machines Indeed!

24.01.2022 Music Therapy can support people with lots of different needs. Watch this story about Connie a young woman struggling with some mental health challenges and see how Music Therapy helped her.

23.01.2022 I’m so lucky to be a music therapist. For many years music therapy bubbled along under my main day job which was teaching singing. It’s been such a privilege to take everything I know as a voice teacher and now focus on my role as a music therapist. I have to thank the NDIS for this. Thankyou to all of my clients- I wouldn’t be a music therapist without you

23.01.2022 This is a wonderful visual. Fostering healthy minds starts young. A great daily reminder

22.01.2022 Happy world music therapy day! The NDIS has had a huge positive effect for clients gaining access to music therapy where they may have otherwise been unable to. This is an amazing thing to celebrate for the Australian community! Have a great day!

22.01.2022 Love this visual! ASD and ADHD

20.01.2022 I’ve made the really difficult decision to close my doors as of 12pm 23rd of March for the remainder of this week and next week the 30th of March for in-person sessions. This will give me some time to organise, plan and set up online sessions. NDIS has also approved online sessions so it will be a seamless transition in that regard. This may not suit everyone at first but we will find a way to make it work. I know how much everyone relies on their music therapy time to re...ach their goals, unwind, reduce their anxiety and find connection however I feel I need to do my bit to slow the spread of this terrible virus in our Cairns community. Everyone’s health is my top priority. Please take care of yourselves and your families, practice good hygiene, social distancing and please keep the music alive

20.01.2022 It’s world music therapy day tomorro! Sunday- I think this is an opportunity to reflect on all that music can do. This video is a beautiful display of how music therapy can help individuals find their voice. The journey can be long and there’s no quick way or even knowing what the journey will bring but initiating sounds and engaging through music is one of the tools for unlocking speech. Enjoy!

16.01.2022 Keep on singing and making music!

12.01.2022 Some great resources here. Remember caregivers go easy on yourselves and don’t pressure yourself to be a teacher as well during this time- just do your best!

11.01.2022 Thanks to all my first online clients today! Although we encountered some techy challenges we were able to explore music in different ways and still hit our goals! Love the imaginative ways of creating instruments too! A coin shaker, corn kernel shaker and a drum made out of a box! Sometimes it’s better to just dive in and see what you find as we will all grow and learn together in this new world. You never know you might find treasure! ... I’m using the platform doxy.me telemedicine but I found that my computer speaker is a little old so will make adjustments. But we are learning as we go! See you all soon

11.01.2022 Support for those who may need it this festive season x

10.01.2022 Putting my feet up for a couple of weeks - sessions resume on the 6th of January. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas and start to 2020. This time of year can be joyous for some but for many it can be chaotic, sad, lonely and challenging. Be kind to each other and yourself!

09.01.2022 Music therapy can be an extremely powerful intervention. It’s flexible, can adapt to any setting, goal and is so special because it is unique to each person.

07.01.2022 There’s some incredible people in this world. I count myself lucky to be sharing the journey with some amazing individuals. Their zest for life, ability to play and express freely and not take life too seriously is an inspiration.

06.01.2022 Love seeing the positive things happening in our cairns community. Adolescence is a very tricky time and making connections can help a young person have people to lean on.

06.01.2022 Wonderful to see #telemusictherapy sessions hitting the news! We are enjoying our new adventures online!

04.01.2022 More advocacy for the use of singing and why it’s so beneficial for the brain. Plus it’s so much fun!

03.01.2022 I love this explanation about why meditation is not for everyone. It’s an amazing tool, especially paired with music however it’s not for everyone and as a music therapist I always approach these tasks with caution until I know more about my clients and their histories and preferences. Active music making or pairing a creative expression task like drawing to music can bring about a sense of calm and well being.

02.01.2022 Time to have a little giggle love this!

01.01.2022 Just a little reminder as the school term is about to begin that bad behaviour is not necessarily a child making the choice to be naughty but that their little brains are not coping with the influx of information. Helping our little ones to feel safe is a great first step.
