20.01.2022 Dear Tackers Families, Firstly, thank you to those who have been asking when we are restarting Tackers now that the COVID19 closure is complete. We are now in a position with our COVID-safe plans to restart Tackers and get our class from Term 1 finished through their classes. The final classes for the Term 1 group will be run on Sunday 16th and 30 of August and 13th of September. Beacuse it is a bit colder then when we last had the Tackers at the club we will be starting at ...9am and running until 11:30. These dates will allow us to complete this round of classes in time for the students to move on to the classes over the school holidays or term 4. We are operating under the Australian Sailing and Queensland government guidelines for CoVID-19 Stage 3. Our CoVID-19 Managment Plan is available for download from our website. It is now part of our club's operating procedures and is applicable to all on and off the water activities. Unfortunately, to enable all those who wish to participate, we are having to limit access to the club's facilites for non-participants. Parents and siblings are asked to limit their time within our rigging and clubhouse areas. Anyone who stays on site for more than a drop-off or pick-up will need to sign in on our COVID register for contact tracing. If you do want to watch the class you are asked to remain in the public areas outside the Club's activities, ensuring you meet the social distancing requrements of the Qld Health guidelines. Due to the constantly evolving situation regarding infection control, we may have to change some of the above requirements if the Governent requirments are changed. Matthew

20.01.2022 Due to the forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for strong winds, Start Sailing classes and OutThere Sailing will not go ahead this Saturday. This is a difficult decision to have to make, but we believe it is the right one in these circumstances. All registrations have been carried to the next Saturday (29th August).

10.01.2022 The 19/20 HYC Committee would like to thank everyone who turned up at our AGM on the and stayed to celebrate the achievements of those in the awards and prizing giving. It was a great day with encouraging words from our President David Begley who made it a point to thank all the volunteers from the past year with honourable mentions going to those that went above and beyond this year, Peter Stanley, Bob Broadbent, Bob Brown, Alex Duff, Annette Duff, Ian Tarr, Glenn Jones, Za...ne Bradbury, Mathew Johnson, Peter Bradbury & Tony Hannan. David then went on to express how pleased we are with our partnership with the University of Queensland Sailing and our new partnership with upcomers Deaf Sailing Queensland who are led by Ronald Bothma and are now recognised by Deaf Sports Australia. With every AGM there comes an opportunity to put forward to the club members the addition of a life member. This year there was a unanimous vote for Alex Duff to join the Humpybong Yacht Club as a life member. Congratulations Alex!!! Once all was said and done by the 2019 2020 committee they all stood down as the committee for the new 2020 2021 season was elected in. We have some people reprising their roles with David Begley once again leading the club as President and some new faces with the addition of Sean Costello taking the role of Co-Vice Commodore along with Peter Listrup. In addition to Ryan McLaughlin and Lachlan Dunn reprising their roles as parent’s representatives we would like to welcome Mitchelle Combrink to the team. Finally we would like to thank Bob Brown, Ryan McLaughlin and Lachlan Dunn for stepping into the Results Management role. Congratulations to all those that got elected onto the Humpybong Yacht Club 2020 2021 Committee, it’s going to be a great year. The AGM was over with the election of the new committee but the day wasn’t done. We then moved to our Prizes and Awards. This year has been tough with many weekends being blown out by bad weather but there has also been some great weekends with fierce friendly competition out on the water, None of that would have be possible without our volunteer team turning up each week to run a variety of different sailing events for us. We had or social sailing days for those more casual sailors. We had our Bay Wanderers Series for mini marathon sailors and we had our Club Championship Series for those sprint/circuit sailors. This year we had a variety of sailors out on the water from catamarans to dinghies to some of our juniors starting to join us out on the big course. Congratulations must however go to those that placed over the year. 06.01.2022 Weather is looking great for this Sunday. Please indicate whether you intend to sail so we can organise volunteers for a great day of racing.

04.01.2022 By popular demand we will change the program for this weekend. Rather than having a points score competiton for the third weekend in a row we will have up to 4 shorter races with 5 minute starts. We will aim to be on the water at 11.30 with no signal before 12 noon Looking at the weather we should expect south easterlies at around 12-15 kts at this stage.
