24.01.2022 Red floof flower

23.01.2022 CHAI 50c size bits of ginger x 2 2 cinnamon sticks a few cardamon pods couple of star anise... a few cloves *any combo of these to preference. Black tea for four about 3 cups water (I never measure) 1 cup milk Put the spices into the water and slowly bring to the boil. Simmer for a little while. The water will get a little colour from the spices. Add the tea and let it brew for a few minutes and then put the milk in once it looks strong enough. The tea will stop brewing once the milk goes in. Now, reheat it again, trying not to get distracted and letting it boil over. Its kind of richer if you do simmer a bit though. Add honey, or sugar if youre boring or vegan (not the same thing). Pour through a strainer to remove floaties. Try not to burn your lips. Pic of my chai tin that has been in use for a number of years now.

23.01.2022 Step one of tomato chutney. The ingredients and a saucepan big enough to cook them in, but first the toms will need to be blanched and peeled. This is the fiddliest bit, but once I peel them, cut in half to squeeze out seeds and chop them and dice the onions I get to leave it overnight.

22.01.2022 Midyim berry. Austromyrtus dulcis. Delish but little. I have been pegging the stem down here and there which has made it root to the ground (layering) and now its a ground cover among the bed.

22.01.2022 leg tubes are coming along okay. This was the easy bit though, Im afraid. Zipper and waistband, ugh. But I think once I do one pair, Ill feel better about others.

22.01.2022 I made the little pencil case when I was 12 or so. Replaced/added a zip to a jacket the other day. You can see why I like the sewing machine.

22.01.2022 The results. Who wants some tomato chutney?

19.01.2022 Pants from a pattern. Step one, two and three. Paper patterns are ridiculous to handle. I cut out the five piece for the pants and made cardboard versions. These have a zip, which will be an added challenge. Why did I start this daft project? I may need to ask a couple of my clever friends for help.

19.01.2022 These are pretty great.

19.01.2022 Bamboo shoot and a billion cactus flower buds.

19.01.2022 Efforts at a 'quilt' thingo. It's still in pieces but getting there.

17.01.2022 Todays random care package. Quinces and some honey. Mission: make quince paste.

17.01.2022 Haemanthus coccineus bulbs that are about to do their ever so strange and beautiful thing. They needed to be repotted. So I found some dead plants, mixed the old soil with some soil improver (well aged with worms).

16.01.2022 Who knows? Well see huh

16.01.2022 The tuart tree from the back of the back yard, over he fence in the fig tree pen.

15.01.2022 Spiral pants then chicken pants (elasticated, bugger that zip bizness

14.01.2022 How to tell if your corona info is true. Ppl need to stop sharing hokey advice. It might make ppl think they are protecting themself, when they wont be; and worse they might think they are safe and continue to be out and about and infecting folk.

13.01.2022 How is staying home going with everyone? Anyone want to share pictures of their gardens? Something in flower? Or ask a garden question.

13.01.2022 Physical Distancing Protesting in Israel.

10.01.2022 Efforts at a quilt thingo. Its still in pieces but getting there.

09.01.2022 Finished-ish. Usable as a blanket. Needs a bit more overstitching, but the edges are done.

08.01.2022 Every item of clothing made is still made by hands. Hands paid a pittance, now paid nothing. Fast fashion has become worse and worse. Now those people will get nothing while the big brands carry on.

08.01.2022 Todays thing to do. Fill up some bobbins for the sewing machine. It's the boring bit of sewing. Then I can try and finish the experimental dog toy I made yesterday. Will post pics later.

07.01.2022 Couldnt quite recognise these tiny seedlings the other day. Then the edges started to grow a bit zigzaggy. Ah nettles. and then, oh yeah, this is the nettle patch. I let a bunch grow here for the very fast butterflies that eat them. Growing stinging plants for a butterfly I never really get to see. Supporting biodiversity. Nettles have lots of ther uses though.

06.01.2022 Experimental animal making. Its a bit chubby to be a greyhound, lol. Ill have to trim the under-leg area for the next one. I disembowelled another toy to make this one.

04.01.2022 Who knows? We'll see huh
