25.01.2022 Our full time dojo approx 30 years ago at corner High Street and Church Street Maitland. Recognise the yellow belt on the left ?
25.01.2022 Its great to be back training and to see full classes. Its good to see that so many of you didnt waste your time at home and put in a lot of training as it shows. At this piont in time we are sorry to say we are unable to accept new students. We are limited to 20 students training in a class at the moment, and we are getting these numbers with our present membership. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and we will be able to accept new members.
24.01.2022 Training starts back today. Tue 7th. class starts at 6pm. The new year is here, so its time to think about goals, that you would like to achieve this year. Looking forward to seeing you all at training tonight. osu.
23.01.2022 Hi everyone, just a reminder that training starts back today at 6pm. I was foolishly hoping that all those students who read the last post would just "like" it so i could see who had got the message. Going by the likes not many read the message. However I guess we will see who turns up and work from there. Please turn up before class is due to start as we have a few details to sort out due to covid-19 safety requirements. Social distancing will need to be observed even thou it doesn't seem to be a requirement at school or even a lot of work places anymore. Hopefully this requirement will be relaxed after July 1st. Looking forward to seeing all tonight and training hard together. Like i said if you read this just hit the "like" button. Osu Trevor.
23.01.2022 Congratulations to Brodie and Jessie Shirtcliffe on passing their Shodan Grading after more than 5 strenuous hours. A great testament to the many years of hard training the boys have put themselves through.
23.01.2022 Just an update, sadly the Branxton Community Hall is still closed. Restrictions community halls may only be open for 3 purposes: (a) to provide a service to ...assist vulnerable members of the public, for example, a food bank or a service providing for the needs of homeless persons, or (b) for counselling and support group services, or (c) as an early education and care facility. As such, none of Council’s community halls serve these purposes and cannot re-open on 13 June. We will keep you all updated when information comes to hand. See more
22.01.2022 Kyokushin classes at Honbu led by Sosai Oyama and Shokei Matsui
21.01.2022 On Saturday I was honored to be allowed to participate in the MOKNZ grading in Dunedin with Sempai Adam Pickworth, and moreso to be asked to be his opponent for... his final round of kumite. Throughout his grading he showed unwaivering resolve, for my mind, he was never in doubt, especially during the spirit test, where he was pushing back two much larger opponents for what seemed an eternity! True Kyokushin spirit and the heart of a lion! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your moment! And thanks to Sensei Trevor Bailey for filming. Osu Osu! See more

17.01.2022 Hi everyone hope this post finds you all well. As you are probably all aware, gyms will be allowed to reopen on the 13th. Unfortunately we do not have a decision from council when they will open up the hall. So for the moment we have to be patient and wait. It shouldn't be long, so get yourself into shape if you haven't been training through the break, which im sure you all have.... Hopefully it will only be a couple of weeks before we are back. Osu Trevor. See more
17.01.2022 Tonights class is cancelled. Sorry for the short notice. See you all thursday. Trevor.
17.01.2022 Congratulation Paul. Nice one. Osu.
16.01.2022 The new year has started with some great training sessions. With everyone turning up and training hard. Considering the heat everyone is working hard and there's lots of sweat. Remember Mas Oyama said the only secret to karate is hard work and sweat. Beginners welcome. Take advantage of our 4 week trail period. Find out if you like kyokushin karate before committing yourself.
16.01.2022 HANSHI DOUG HOLLOWAY As some of our dojo operators may be aware the executive panel will be releasing an updated 3rd edition of our syllabus at the end of this ...year to be ready for use in 2021. In addition to some changes to the syllabus itself, a brief history of Hanshi Doug Holloway will also be added. Looking for a photo to accompany the text I came across these photos (below) of Hanshi’s initial training at the Tokyo honbu in Japan 1964 and then of the group he took there from Christchurch in 1968. Although Hanshi's history page in the revised syllabus is aimed at new members joining the MOKNZ I thought I’d post it on FB for all our members to have a look at. (next post) Obviously I couldn’t hope to cover over a half a century’s dedication to Kyokushin karate in a few paragraphs. However I hope it will serve as reminder to all of us who love our training of the debt of gratitude we owe Hanshi for not only bringing Kyokushin to NZ but for building the strong foundation we so often take for granted.

14.01.2022 Hi everyone , hope you are all well. Its been over a month now since we went into lock down. And if you're like me you're over it. However we need to stay calm for a while longer. Stay safe and we will train again on the other side of this. Osu.
13.01.2022 Hi all, Training reconvenes Tuesday the 12th January 6pm. Due to the unfortunate spike in COVID cases in NSW over the holiday season. ... 12.01.2022 Sensei Daniel Langworthy’s shodan grading at Thornton Public School hall in December 2003.
12.01.2022 An update on yesterdays post. Its the state goverment that wont allow community halls to open for uses such as ours. Karate, yoga, dance etc. So untill that changes were in limbo. So keep training hard at home. Osu.
12.01.2022 Here is a fun training session to enjoy.
11.01.2022 Due to bush fires in the surrounding area. Karate training tonight will be cancelled. If you read this let others knoe. Osu.
10.01.2022 The Dojo is now closed. Its only a week since we discussed keeping the dojo open and modifying our training. Today that decision was taken out of our hands with the closure of all indoor sports. We will reopen at some time in the future. In the mean time we need to stay safe. That means practicing social awareness and giving people their personal space. Staying around the house more than you would like. You wont be able to interact with your friends the way you used too.... But on the up side you will have plenty of time to practice your Karate. Martial arts are now being practiced all over the world in lounge rooms, bed rooms out in the garage or garden. This where the martial arts started. To help you i will post some videos, they are full training sessions you can train too. Other videos that will teach you how to improve you technique. These will be videos from YouTube. You can also send me videos of your training and i will them post on our face book page to inspire the other students. Its also a good time to work on your flexibility. Stay safe, stay in contact. Osu Shihan Trevor Trainor.
09.01.2022 Hope your happy and healthy out there. I see the nsw goverment has finally allowed the community halls to open for recreational purposes. As of yesterday sat 13th. Still no word from council, its probably a surprise to them, as the goverment doesnt seem to have a long range plan to help businesses prepare to open up. Anyway I'm sure were not far from reopening. So a little more patience and if you havent kept yourself fit, you only have about week, to back into shape. See ...you on the dojo floor soon. OSU Trevor. See more
