16.01.2022 Earlier this morning - work began on solar panel installation for our stadium. 64 x panels will be mounted on our roof that will provide our club with a 22kw system. The work will continue over 2/3 days but this will not restrict any of our social sessions. ... This $25,000 project will provide ongoing benefits for our club... and the investment should only take a few years to reach the payback target. Just like our air conditioning systems - we ask that no one touches the internal inverter box or any display panels that will be located near our front desk. Bring on the sunshine and energy savings.

16.01.2022 Congratulations to the White Warriors for taking out the term 1 social competition.

10.01.2022 The Social League wrap up - Congratulations to the Blue Beasts - Firdous, Jithu, Janaki, Cody Morgan, Kyrongheeh, Michael, Hiren and Cate Dymond . Who defeated the Green Grenades in Thursday nights Grand Final 31 - 25.... The Red Razors also defeated the White Warriors on the night.... and in doing so avoided collecting the wooden spoon. Player of the tournament went to - Michael (of the Blue Beasts) who also collected a bonus prize. This was Michael’s first social league comp and even after being elevated up the order from 7 to 6...he still dominated and grew as a player each week. I think position 5 is on the cards for him next comp and an upgrade for a few other players just saying.... hehe Congratulations must go out to Arun for running another successful weekly competition and for raising the bar with our social league competitions. Thank you Emily Lisa Austin for your weekly enthusiasm and for the Facebook posts and photography. ................. So what does the future of Social League Competition look like ? Well - in a nutshell it’s getting bigger and better... with more people getting involved. The goal for our next SL is to have 5 x teams of 8 players This will mean the SL will run over the course of 11 weeks. Arun will also be assisted by a number of keen club members who have expressed an interest to help organise & run the next SL. These helpers will not only help in the decision making but will also be promoted to a role of a Team Manager. Welcome aboard - Prema Nair Omar Khattak Emily Austin Jane Mendelson Kumar Anil Keep you eye out for more details about the next SL due to start in a months time.... but in the meantime enjoy our Thursday nights as a regular social badminton session (which will be run by Shane Young).

10.01.2022 Dear Hunter Badminton members and friends, Re: Covid 19/return to sport update 10/6/2020. Today NSW Sports minister Geoff Lee made some media statements namely around adults returning to community sport, post July 1. ... There will be further guidelines realised by various appropriate authorities over the next few days that will help your Hunter Badminton committee develop a compulsory- Covid 19 Safety Plan... that will allow us to reopen our stadium and to get people playing again. Let it be known that these guidelines are designed with the focus to - Get in, Play Sport and Get out.... with a strong emphasis on health and safety for players and the larger community in mind. The board of HBA are meeting again this coming Monday (and working away in the background).... and with whatever changes are needed to be in place, these will be in force for at least a full month. You might see or hear of our badminton venues around NSW returning earlier than July 1, but I personally can’t see our club returning any earlier. So what can members/players expect- - new Entry & Exit procedures - increased hygiene standards and cleaning - Reduced session times - Reduced number of players and interactions within the stadium - Strict social distancing guidelines inside the venue - No spectators/non playing family & friends - No showering onsite or access to our water fountain - possible members only access - the possibility of booking in advance only This message and future messages will be sent out via our membership email system. I will be turning off commenting on this post... so if anyone has any questions or immediate concerns you can contact myself (0424055570) or another board member - Margaret Smith, Murray Gooch, Kumar Laks (Anil), Shivnag Sripadi or Shane Young prior to our next board meeting. The HBA board are hoping to make more announcements soon and provide all players with equal opportunity to play in some way during these ongoing challenging times. We thank everyone for their patience and stay tuned for more details in reference to our clubs reboot. Kind Regards Tony Morgan President of Hunter Badminton Inc.

08.01.2022 Hello everyone, As promised here are the details regarding one way you can return to Badminton in July. Mini Team competitions -that will be preorganized... Monday night - Top Flight - A & B graders only Tuesday night - Mid League - B, C & D graders only Thursday night - Smash League - B, C & D graders only Please note - when we return in July these nights will be used for the mini team competitions. On these nights there will be no chance to just show up or book a zone... as we are not operating with general social sessions. This is a great way individuals can resume playing badminton again. especially for players that can't or will have difficulty forming small groups and booking zones (our other method for returning to badminton in July). Please take note - for the way players must register for any of these leagues in the document attached. More information about our - "Booking Zones" option for coming back to badminton will be broadcast over the weekend. This information is also being sent out via our membership database emailing system.. if you are not getting these emails - please send us a message or comment below to be added. It might mean you haven't registered this year or given us the wrong email address or we couldn't read your hand writing - lol Register quick for these leagues !!!! Limited spots available. See you on the courts soon.

05.01.2022 From today (17 September), if you’re caught using your phone illegally while driving you’ll cop 5 demerit points. For L and P1 licence holders, that’s your licence gone! It’s not worth the risk. Find out more at www.mobilephoneroadrules.com.au

04.01.2022 Attention all social club players but especially those that play on Thursday nights. Tonight’s Thursday social session the 3rd May - will be the last social session for an unknown period of time. As of next week - Thursday the 10th May... this night will be used for our club’s weekly Social League team competition. ... This change from Wednesday to Thursday night has been given the ‘green light’ as a trial for the upcoming term 2 social league comp. Much thought as been given to this change, with a few contributing factors, such as - - declining participation/numbers for the SLC being played on the Wednesday night. - many of the current players of SLC having to forgo another social nights play... for not wanting to play badminton on back to back nights. - and a survey of the current SLC players in favour of the change of night and many players actually stating Thursday would be their preferred night for SLC. Our current SLC organiser - Arun is very passionate about growing this club event. He has listen to much feedback and has the support of the board to try to mix things up and make a few changes along the way. Already this change has brought some success with a good number of the regular Thursday night players, signing up to the next competition... so it is also great that these players won’t miss out on their weekly badminton and will experience something new like a SLC. Our SLC’s used to run on Thursday nights in the past... so let’s hope that future SLC’s can return to the glory days of old.... lol SLC’s are for players of all levels... and in recent times have been excellent for introducing competition to new players as well. Please check our other FB post regarding the upcoming SLC.... it’s not to late to join or come on board as a reserve. Or contact Arun directly on 0434 366 563 or email [email protected] ASAP
