04.01.2022 Able Australia mourns the passing of Alisha Hill on Christmas Eve. Alisha was a remarkable woman who made a huge impact on everyone who knew her, both within an...d outside the deafblind community. Alisha was an Able Australia Debbie Prior finalist in 2019 in recognition of the work she had undertaken training Communication Guides for the deafblind community in Adelaide. In celebration of this incredible achievement Alisha organized for the Graduation Ceremony to be held at Government House in South Australia a huge honour for everyone involved. It also was not a one-off project. On the back of this success Alisha was working on training even more Communication Guides for the South Australian deafblind community. The loss of Alisha at such a young age is difficult to process. She was a smart, warm, funny, caring person who made an enormous contribution to the deafblind community. Most of all, Alisha was a humble person often surprised by the attention her work drew. Our thoughts go out to everyone in Alisha’s family. We cannot begin to know their grief. We are so thankful for the time we were able to have with Alisha and feel very grateful knowing she was part of our lives. Rest in peace dear friend.
