Hunter Care Group has purchased and now owns some outstanding newly built homes, which provides this security of long-term accommodation. We also ensured they are beautifully presented and comfortable for people with disability to enjoy and feel at home in! Check out our amazing video below! See Less

21.01.2022 International Women’s Day 2021 was a great success The HCG staff got together for morning tea to talk about the progression of women in the workplace, gender bias and inequality and how we, as an organisation and as individuals, are going to #choosetochallenge thoughts and actions that create division. Aoife Aherene & Tory Bartlett (pictured) are 2 of our superstar leaders that are putting their hand up to #choosetochallenge by providing ongoing leadership to staff and man...agement on inclusivity and equality. Aoife ran our IWD2021 event and as a part of her agenda wanted to ensure that all of the men and the women in the organisation were a part of the conversation and we all had an opportunity to reflect on the women who had an impact on our lives We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for taking the time on #IWD2021 to celebrate women’s achievements and for taking on the challenge to help create an inclusive world #IWD2021 #HCG #Choosetochallenge #Inclusivityandequality

21.01.2022 It is Schizophrenia Awareness Week, raising awareness and providing clarity around this mental illness is the goal "Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that generally appears in late adolescence or early adulthood. Characterised by delusions, hallucinations, and other cognitive difficulties. Schizophrenia can often be a life-long struggle.... As with most mental disorders, the causes of schizophrenia are poorly understood. Friends and family commonly are shocked, afraid or angry when they learn of the diagnosis. People often imagine a person with psychosis as being more violent or out-of-control than a person who has another kind of serious mental illness. But these kinds of prejudices and misconceptions can be readily corrected" Below is some info-graphics around schizophrenia and statistics #mentalhealth #awareness #support #awareness

21.01.2022 Good News Story We have a phenomenal story we would like to share for a young gentlemen we support, he would like to share a few words and also raise awareness for overcoming obstacles. "My name is Calum,... I am 27 years old and on 20/1/2019 I sustained a traumatic brain injury and T12 incomplete spinal cord injury. My prognosis was bleak, and things weren't looking great for me when I was discharged from inpatient rehab to home. I had never heard of the NDIS prior to my injury or organisations that help to coordinate plans and implement support like Hunter Care Group. However, I had clear goals and with time, practice, and the support of my coordinator, I learned how to utilize my plan to help me achieve these goals. It is important to note that without access to the support provided by the NDIS or Hunter Care Groups front line staff, it would have made the already difficult task of regaining independence and perusing recovery that much harder. In a similar manner to the core values of education and resilience embraced by Pararise. I would encourage any new NDIS participant working alongside Hunter Care Group to utilize the service as a resource of education. This looks different for everyone but for me, this meant exploring how to engage in as much physical activity as possible in order to maximize my independence. Utilizing my supports to assist me in shopping so I could manage my diet and support my sometimes-ambitious goals. No matter what your challenges are whether sci or neurological injury or mental health, please be curious and ask yourself how Hunter Care Group can support you in attaining your goals and in keeping connected with whatever community you want to belong to. When facing disability, it is easy to focus on the things that you cannot do or the things you don't have. I would encourage participants to focus on what we DO have and what we CAN do and utilize these tools that are there to help you. Ask questions, speak to people, and stay connected" Calum has an Instagram account for his movement he is trying to get off the ground, around breaking down barriers and reaching set goals. Show some support for this young man trying to help others by following his page and viewing his journey on Instagram @para_rise
