24.01.2022 #Repost @zoestarrproject How long have you gotten away with not warming up? Weeks, months, years? But you always get these random niggles/injuries, not related to the actual movement at all right?... It’s just random I’ve gone without one for years I don’t have time Whether you believe it or not, a warm up is essential for optimal performance and injury prevention. Your injuries aren’t random. Our body is a stack of dominos, every aspect of our body is needed for the other. One thing is going wrong and many will follow and prevention is much easier than rehabbing, both physically and mentally. The more dedicated to the LONG game you become, the more you will value a quality warm up. Things I LOVE to include in warm ups are. - Scapular Pulle (dead hang from pull up bar and pulling shoulder blades into back pockets) - Cable Single arm pull downs with big focus on contracting the lat. Courtesy of @hunterfunctionalhealth - Monster walks (crab walks with a band, like the banded booty workouts that Insta models try to sell... it’s out WARM UP ) - @andrew_lock_strength version of the pull apart but it’s around your elbows - Mobility (nothing excessive, we’re not trying to do the splits, we just want to be comfortable in the position we need to be in) - Building sets (NOT 10 reps at every load, feel the weight, move the weight, move on)

23.01.2022 Thanks @siegefitnessau . . #repost ... Hear me out... Injuries can occur inside and outside of the gym. Often times very unfortunately when someone is injured they are told by their professional of choice that they need time away from the gym... This is absolutely not the case provided your professional communicates with you and makes a plan of recovery. The identity you embody and association you have to your injury is a very huge part of your recovery. If you feel absolutely debilitated by it your physiological and psychological recovery will be so much longer. The identity you have when you are in the gym working around your injury is more geared towards remaining empowered as an athlete! An intelligent professional will give you rehab exercises and accessory movements designed to bring you towards pain free movement and prevent reoccurrence of the injury. They will encourage you massively to stay in the gym where you are surrounded by your fellow athletes and work with the coaches to construct a plan which allows you to work around your injury. They will understand your desire to train and still make progression towards your goals and outcomes and ensure that you can continue to work for them. This is why we work with @hunterfunctionalhealth because they embody the above and support our incredible athletes in their development.
