23.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 28/11/2020*** Murray cod season is now only days away and the increasing boat and caravan activity on the roads has been noticeable this week. Water levels in the Murray have been rising all week. This fresh rise has been cloudy and bait fishing maybe more productive than Lures. By opening on Tuesday water levels will be on the drop again and falling quite quickly. Lower than normal flows in the Murrumbidgee below Maude and Balranald may make those areas a l...ittle slow. Smaller creeks like the Billabong and Gunbower should fish well. The hotspot for yellas this week has been Kow Swamp inlet where bag limits have been easily obtainable. In the Edward there are plenty of smaller cod taking bait and good fun for the kids...you may be lucky and land a better one especially up around Moulamein See more

23.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 7/11/2020*** Warmer water temperatures has seen a few fish coming back on the bite in many locations throughout the district. Rising water levels in the Wakool system has seen a continuing good run of yellas at Genoe and in the Kyalite district...fish have been taking both bait and lure The Murrumbidgee at Balranald continues to produce some quality yellas on bait At Lake Charm water is entering the lake and a good run of mainly small Redfin have been on t...he bite now for a couple of weeks. If you are bait fishing you need minnow. Anglers are taking a larger size fish on soft plastics and blades trolled or cast around the shoreline. The Edward River has also seen some action with a few yellas being landed...large numbers of small Murray Cod are present in the Edward so you will need plenty of bait At Swan Hill the Murray is dropping, most anglers are landing just the odd yella. It is expected to fish well in a couple of weeks as the water level settles down. Down below Euston and down stream of Mildura locals have been catching their bag of yellas quite easily, most fish have been landed on bait. We do expect to see large numbers of campers out on our waterways next week as Melbourne opens up See more

21.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 17/10/2020*** Water has warmed up this week and fish are starting to bite in several locations throughout the district. The little Murray has been good with Anglers taking several yellas on bait. In the big Murray water levels are rising again with most anglers landing a couple of yellows each outing... while fishing for yellas using shrimp and worm several people have reported landing Murray cod, mainly small fish... remember the Murray Cod season open...s on December 1. The channel entering Racecourse Lake has fished well some days and not others and with the warmer water Lake Charm will fire up shortly. The yellas have started to take lures again in Kangaroo lake but all fish so far have been small. Extra flow in the Murrumbidgee again this week has produced a few yellas for the locals at Balranald. Yellas have been taking bait downstream of Wentworth and in the Fort Courage area during the past few weeks. See more

18.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 19/9/2020*** Selected Victorian anglers at last have access to New South Wales waters, so if you live inside the bubble on the Victorian side of the Murray you can go fishing on New South Wales waters providing you have your border permit and your ID with you. You must stay inside the zone when you get into New South Wales, a map is available on the border permit site. Fishing has generally picked up this week in several locations... the Murray has steadi...ed and the water is clearing up, good fishing opportunities in the Wakool and Murrumbidgee junctions district for yellas will be on during the next few weeks...good numbers of yellas are being caught at Balranald weir down stream...small yabbies have been good Fishing has also been good at Maude in the Murrumbidgee...again yellas taking bait. In the Wakool at Genoe anglers have landed good sized yellas on crushed yabbies bobbed around the logs. With less water flow fishing has slowed this week in the channel system at Lake Charm. Hopefully the forecast rain will bring on a few Redfin in the lake. See more

17.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 3/10/2020*** The warm spring weather has finally arrived and hopefully with it a good redfin season at the local lakes In the Murray at Swan Hill some anglers have had good yellow belly fishing...one angler we spoke to this week landed five quality fish on shrimp and worm, up stream of Swan Hill The Murrumbidgee at the Balranald weir has been fishing well again this week...shore based anglers have been landing some quality yellas amongst the rocks and you... do get plenty of snags With the warmer weather the Ouyen lake has been fishing well...water is clear and trolling lures for the introduced trout has been productive A few more warm days should see the redfin start at Lake Charm and as the flow increases through Kangaroo Lake we would expect another good run of yellas there this season Water quality is looking a lot better in the Murray the level is dropping at the moment. Fish are expected to bite well on the next small rise See more

17.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 26/9/2020*** Poor weather conditions for fishing have prevailed for most of the week but the week ahead is looking good. The full moon is on Friday 2nd and that normally brings on the bite. The Murray is on the drop again and is clearing as it goes down anglers have been landing a few yellas especially down steam of the Wakool junction where shrimp have been the best bait Maude and the Murrumbidgee right through to the Murray has been fishing well with ye...llas taking scrub worms...fish have been in excellent condition and generally a good size up around 400mm With some increased flow in the channel the yellas are expected to come back on the bite at the Racecourse Lake inlet by the end of the week Park rangers have been visiting camps along the river checking ID and making campers aware of COVID restrictions. If you are boating on the Murray you do need a border pass if you are from Victoria See more

15.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 14/11/2020*** Rising water levels in the Wakool river should provide some good fishing especially down the bottom and around Kyalite. Good numbers of yellas have been caught in that area over the last few weeks. The rise this time is coming right through the system and hopefully will help to restock the river with fish as they run upstream. The Murray is still dropping and the fishing is still slow. Water levels will hopefully settle for the opening of the C...od season on December 1 Redfin are still being caught at Lake Charm on both bait and lure... remember early mornings before the speedboats start are best At Kangaroo Lake anglers are still landing a few yellas on shrimp and worm Locals at Balranald have been enjoying a good run of yellas, especially at the Balranald weir... fish have been taking baits and lures. 12.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 12/9/2020*** Water levels have plummeted down this week in the Murray and will continue to do so during most of the coming week along with the drop the water is very muddy making poor fishing conditions. The action has been in the channels in the Kerang lakes district... the channel entering racecourse Lake has been good...several anglers have been landing good numbers of yellas...the preferred bait has been shrimp and worm, light gear is best as the fish ha...ve been taking the heads off the shrimp and have been hard to hook. A high-pressure system approaching early in the week should see good fishing at this location. NSW residents have been enjoying good fishing for yellas in the Murrumbidgee at Maude...water has been dirty so bait fishing has been best. As the water clears up towards the end of next week the little Murray will again be good for a few yellas on bait. See more

11.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 12/12/2020*** Since Cod opening on December 1 the hot spot has been the Edward, where plenty of mainly small Murray Cod have been landed. Most people have managed to land at least one good sized fish. Surprisingly the bottom end of the river has fished very well with some fish up around 1m being landed. The Murray has been mainly slow especially the opening weekend when the barometer was low and the river was dropping quickly...since then it has been better ...and late this week with the water levels steady fishing in the Murray has been quite good. Water levels are expected to slowly drop away over the next week The Billabong creek has also been good with some quality green fish being landed Some anglers have continued to do well at Lake Charm and Kangaroo Lake...where the reddies have been on at charm and the main species at Kangaroo has been yellow belly See more

08.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 24/10/2020*** At Swan Hill the Murray has been on the drop the last few days with another rise approaching. The rainy season has seen several rises and falls with muddy water entering mainly from the Ovens River. Dam levels are getting high now and the predicted higher rainfall along with the current dam levels may see over bank flows before Christmas. As water levels rise in the Wakool Edward and Merren Creek the fishing is normally good at this time of yea...r... good bags of yellas are being landed in Kyalite Genoe area already...yellas are taking scrub worms small yabbies and shrimp. Locals at Balranald are still landing a few yellas at the Balranald weir on bait and lure. Local lakes have improved slightly this week with a few yellas being caught at Kangaroo Lake and a few small redfin at Lake Charm In the Murray down stream of Wentworth and in the Mildura area the yellas have been biting mainly on bait... this action has been good right through to below lock 7 See more

07.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 5/9/2020 Hi flows in the Murray this week has the water levels the highest it’s been in all year but the level will start dropping over the weekend and plummet down during the next week. Fishing with worms or crushed yabbies should produce a yellow belly or two from the bank in the shallow water over the weekend. Water is entering Lake Boga, the channel system is looking very good but no fish biting yet. Fishing from the boat out the front of the inlet cou...ld be productive. kangaroo lake worth a try up the north end around the outlet regulator using bait maybe good for a yellow belly or two Anglers have been landing a few yellows in the little Murray on shrimp and worm For those New South Wales residents there is a big rise coming down the Edward and is approaching Moulamein now, this should bring on a few yellas below Moulamein in the coming week See more

06.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 10/10/2020*** A cooler week and with the rain and wind not many yellas were out and about. It’s at this time of year the Redfin at Lake Charm really get going and with a few warm days we would expect that to happen. The early season has been best for reddies at Charm the last few years In the Murray water levels are back on the rise and in the rising water we expect a few yellas to be on the bite on shrimp and worm Flow in the Murrumbidgee at Balranald has ...slowed and with it the good run of yellas... fish are still being landed in the Balranald district with most fish being taken around the timber As water levels settle down and the weather warms the Wakool at Genoe is expected to fish well again this season...yellas are expected to be on the bite around the logs and ledges on yabbies or the ever popular shrimp + worm baited See more

01.01.2022 ***Fishing Report 19/12/2020*** At Swan Hill the Murray water level will be falling over the next few days and then hopefully a rise over the Christmas New Year period will bring good fishing to a river that has had a disappointing start to the Murray Cod season. Edward river continues to fish well with plenty of small cod on the bite these fish have been taking a variety of baits and have also been caught on lures cast around the timber. Murrumbidgee at Balranald has been fi...shing well again for yellas this week on a rising water level Redfin are still being caught at lake Charm some days have been better than others with minnow being the best bait Gunbower Creek in Cohuna district is starting to produce cod, water is still dirty and bait fishing has been best In the Wakool water levels are returning to normal and fishing should improve in the Genoe district and down stream over the next couple of weeks Yabbies seem to be in plentiful supply in local channels with most people getting plenty for bait and a good supply to eat See more
