24.01.2022 The bulgarian split squat drop set finisher. As the name suggests only do this set at the end of your training session and only do it once! Here I am doing 6 reps of each weight, getting progressively lighter and finishing with 6 reps of body weight only. 22.01.2022 Here is a deceptively sneaky lunge variation which targets the glute of the front leg. Elevate the front foot on a low step and use a long eccentric (3seconds) isometric (10 second hold) protocol, before switching the kettlebell under the front leg then stand up. Do 3 repeats of the longer sprint (using the u turn button to turn around). Then going in the reverse direction do 3 of the shorter sprints.... 20.01.2022 I have a new bit of kit from a great company called @purmotion_official. It’s called the Cyclone and it’s a bit like a TRX with the added benefit of a super friction free pulley at the top. The hamstring curl has just got a lot harder as now the legs are free to move up and down so equal pressure needs be to kept on both legs to remain stable. #hamstringworkout #hamstrings #legday #fitafter40 #cycling #cyclecoach #ftp_training

The knee extension will be limited by how much weight your foot can tolerate- here I am using an 8kg kettlebell. 08.01.2022 Shoulders and back combo for mountain bikers. 1 chest supported cable lat pull down. This variation with the chest supported locks in the body position which means it’s easier to isolate the lats. It’s a good variation if you are just starting strength training or for the seasoned lifter who wants to go a bit heavier and rely less on the demands of stabilizing the rest of the body. 2 High incline bench shoulder press. Again another good one if you are just starting out, or if your shoulder mobility won’t allow you to press directly overhead.

02.01.2022 A couple of excellent exercise variations here for cyclists: 1 BB kickstand squat An excellent almost single leg squat variation which you can go heavy on. But as always learn good form with a lighter weight before progressing. Doing this inside the rack or with a spotter is another good idea if you are getting up towards the top end of what you can lift. 2 Bird dog row This is as much of a core exercise as it is a row. Here I am rowing a 16kg kettlebell and the amount core recruitment at the bottom of the row is huge.
