15.01.2022 In solidarity with all people affected by ongoing systemic racism and violence and in response to the events we are seeing unfold before us, We will support ‘Black Out Tuesday’. It is not business as usual. This is not a black problem or an American problem; this is a global issue which we cannot ignore. The Australian media may not report on our own atrocities but they do exist, and they do matter. There have been at least 432 Aboriginal deaths in custody since 1991. While I/we understand that social media is not the solution, We are committed to taking steps both small and large in order to see real change.

12.01.2022 Howdy. Hope you're doing well. We can almost smell the freedom here in Melbourne! Oh, to go and see a live band again, drink beer and sweat, be joyously pounded by a bass guitar and a kick drum. Let Me Live is the second single from my new CD, Dog Songs. We usually save it until last in our sets and everyone in the room sings the 'Hallelujah' chorus with great gusto. It features Nicky Del Rey in stellar lead guitar form and Ed Bates on pedal steel. And of course, the rest of ...us go alright too. It tells the tale of a typical St. Kilda troubadour who's been playing the corner bars and dives for the last forty years without ever breaking it big. 12.01.2022 We are disappointed to advise patrons that the scheduled Red Hot Summer Tour dates this October in Kiama, Ballarat and the Barossa cannot proceed due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. The health and welfare of patrons, our crew and the communities that the tour visits is of upmost importance to us. We are happy to let you know that all bands will join together in the summer of ’22 to play these three sold out shows, and hope you can keep your current ticket and join us on the new dates and thank you for your ongoing support. Technically, H & C should have been completing the Red Hot Summer Tour just yesterday! But of course, our plans were waylaid...as were everyone else's. Myself and my mighty original band The Long Lost Brothers set foot back in our favourite venue, The Dogs Bar, next Friday night May 29th for a Facebook Live full band performance. I can't wait. I'm really missing it! Some of the best production heads in the country will be looking after sound and vision for the show so it should be pretty bloody special. 06.01.2022 Howdy, folks. Hope you're all well and starting to return to roughly normal lives. I got back to actual teaching this week after doing it remotely for a couple of months. (I can confirm that a trumpet sounds better live than through a tinny laptop speaker!) And there are some actual live gigs starting to appear on the horizon which is a very good thing. If you missed my live streaming gig the other week, here it is. It features my wonderful band of Long Lost Brothers (and Sisters) - Nicky Del Rey on guitar, Ed Bates on pedal steel, Cal McAlpine on drums, Rob Walker on bass, Fiona Lee Maynard on backing vocals and percussion; and Amy Valent Curlis on percussion. 03.01.2022 Have you seen this? We played on the Letterman show back in 1990 at the end of the Midnight Oil world tour. (H & C supported the Oils the whole way around). Pretty cool, although they insisted on using their rhythm section and John and Doug had to cool their heels sidestage. We got to hang with actor Jeff Bridges who was a very nice guy.
