25.01.2022 It’s that time of year again. Our only big sale for the year - Hunters Hill Optical stocktake sale! With frames and sunglasses dramatically reduced, there has never been a better time to get new spectacles. With discounts of 10% to 50% off all our eyewear in store.

24.01.2022 How beautiful are these @paultayloreyewear glasses with Swarovski crystals.

20.01.2022 Even horses need sunglasses sometimes. This is Waratah, who suffers from glare sensitivity. He wears a mesh mask to help block the UV rays and stop his eyes from watering. My @transitionslenses were perfect for my eyes while riding through @glenworthvalley

19.01.2022 Top nine from 2020! Interesting to look back at the most liked Insta pics of the year. From blackouts due to storms in January to a worldwide pandemic, 2020 has dished up some challenging times but 2020 has also had some lovely memories with family and friends. Forever grateful to finish the year back in Qld with family.

17.01.2022 For many of us our routines have been changing and spending a lot more time on screens whether it be working from home, remote learning or even for enjoyment like Netflix. Eye strain often occurs as the eye muscles tighten when focussing you’re close so try to have regular breaks from devices to help relax your eyes. Every 20-30 minutes it’s recommended you look away from a screen into the distance for roughly 30-60 seconds. If headaches or eye strain are beginning to be problem for you, please consider having an eye examination.

17.01.2022 New @tomford eyewear arriving in store soon!

15.01.2022 Thank you for all the local support we’ve received during this unprecedented year. We are taking a break over Christmas and New Year to recharge. 2020 hasn’t been without stress and difficulties but having such a friendly, supportive community makes coming to work each day a pleasure. We are very much looking forward to reopening on the 8th January. Please email [email protected] with any enquires while we’re closed for the holidays.

15.01.2022 Even Optometrists need to get their eyes tested. Thank you to my friend Kelly for looking after my eyes. Can’t wait to order a new pair of glasses with my new prescription. Even slight changes in prescription can lead to headaches or eye strain. The ocular health checks done during an eye examination make sure eye pressure is within normal limits and that there is no glaucoma. Slit lamp, ophthalmoscopy and scans all make sure there isn’t any issues with the health of your eyes. Make sure you regularly have your eyes tested to make sure they’re staying healthy.

14.01.2022 Merry Christmas from our family to yours. We wish you a safe, happy and healthy holiday! We are now closed and are looking forward to serving you again from the 8th January. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our patients, friends and family who have shown us so much support, kindness and patience as we navigated this very challenging year. Sandra and I are so appreciative of everyone in our local community for supporting local. Looking forward to seeing you all again in 2021!

13.01.2022 We are still available to care for your eyes. Although we’re not doing routine eye examinations, we’re available for essential eyecare. Yesterday I advised two patients without even requiring them to come in for appointments. Thankfully Tele-health options means we can utilise technology to be able to triage a patient. Sometimes you will still need to come in for an appointment but for the two yesterday I could get one commencing treatment by just attending the pharmacy and the other required hospital treatment, just by seeing photos and asking about signs and symptoms. Ignoring signs like sore, painful eyes, double vision, blurry or sudden loss of vision or flashes and floaters could lead to potential vision loss so please seek eyecare advise. Even if it’s just a phone call to begin with, we’re here to help.

13.01.2022 So excited that a patient and local artist painted this amazing artwork for my window. This is a sneak peak as the install will happen this week.

12.01.2022 Contact lenses are a fabulous invention to be able to help people see without the dependency on glasses. However, using daily disposable contact lenses can produce a lot of plastic waste and I’m happy to say that Hunters Hill Optical is a collection point for Terracycle Australia and Bausch & Lomb’s recycling program. All brand contact lenses, blister packs and cases can to dropped off for recycling. I really like that we can make a positive difference to our environment by reducing waste so please start collecting your contact lens blister packs instead of throwing them in the trash. It’s also important to remember contact lenses although containing more than 50% water can not be flushed down the drain. The plastic polymer in contact lenses can harm sea life.

11.01.2022 Some of you may have noticed the posters hanging in the shop window to remind you that the end of the year is fast approaching and if you haven’t used your health fund optical benefit, pop in store before the 24th Dec. A great time of year to update your glasses or sunglass wardrobe. We even have some glasses completely covered by the health fund so NO GAP to you.

11.01.2022 Daily disposable contact lenses come in all different shapes and sizes but the feature that can really make a difference is the material. These lenses are very comfortable with an envelope of moisture surrounding the silicone hydrogel lens. If you would like to try these lenses or just would like to discuss the various contact lens options available, book an appointment with us.

09.01.2022 World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. 90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable if identified early. It’s important to look after your sight by getting regular eye tests as part of your overall health care, even with the disruptions of Covid-19.

09.01.2022 Don’t forget to get your children’s eyes tested now that they’ve started back at school. 1 in 5 kids have an undetected vision problem so make sure your child is seeing the best they can so they can achieve the best in 2021.

08.01.2022 We are back to doing routine eye examinations this week and with the increased screen use for children during a time of remote learning, there’s never been a better time to check your children’s eyes and vision. Bulk-billed to Medicare, so call 98794009 to schedule an eye test.

07.01.2022 Don’t forget that most optical benefits from your private health funds expire at the end of the month. If you would like to use them in 2020, make you pop in before we close on 24 December.

07.01.2022 We’re back to seeing routine eye examinations. We are excited to welcome back our patients over the coming weeks and months and look forward to continue to provide you with the professional service you can trust. All those that have been putting off their eye checks we are making sure you’re safe to see us. We have adopted stringent cleaning protocols and have spaced appointments to limit numbers in store so we can ensure social distancing practices. So for those suffering symptoms like eye strain, blurry vision, headaches we can see you - book an appointment today.

02.01.2022 Book week! Love seeing kids reading. Paper books can be an important break from screen time.

01.01.2022 These @transitionslenses have been perfect to protect my eyes against the Queensland sun. Still enjoying our beachside escape but all good things must come to an end. The practice reopens on 8th January. Few more days of holidays and soaking up the sunshine.
