21.01.2022 This afternoon the Brigade was called to assist with a single vehicle MVA on the New England Highway at Deadman's Hill. Thankfully no injuries but a lot of oil... to deal with. Remember if an emergency vehicle is responding under lights and sirens, carefully move aside to allow them to pass. See more
09.01.2022 A day of celebration for our Brigade today. Members that were involved in the 2019/2020 bushfire received their NSW Premiers Citations, Member Gerry Winter received his 10 year service medals and to top it off after several months of recruiting 6 of our 12 new members joined us for a meet and greet. Acting District Manager, Inspector Ken Hepplewhite presented the Citations, medals and gave an inspiring overview of the key role we play in the chain between the person requiring assistance to the fire-fighters arriving on scene.
08.01.2022 The Communications Brigade held a remarkably successful orientation weekend on 28th and 29th November. ... On Sunday we had 2 new applicants in the Comms room with us when we ran the comms on the Crawfords’ Haystack fire. This provided first-hand experience for them. One of them even took part in the operation and got great understanding from it. It was the best on the job training. The weekend has resulted in 7 new membership applications coming in to join Comms. This included applications for dual membership from several very committed RFS members, who wish to work both with Comms, and with their current brigades. Dual membership is an ideal way for members to stay in touch with their home base and continue to contribute to the RFS efforts in another area. We already have several on the Comms team who have dual membership, and it works well. They understand field operations and a knowledge of the comms systems that we follow. Comms dual membership may suit more RFS members, so with that in mind, we will run orientation sessions next weekend also. 5th and 6th December. 10am and 2pm. Greg Bruce, our Comms Captain, and himself a dual member of two brigades, will run these and be able to answer any and all questions. Address. Hunter Valley Fire Control, 2161 Putty Road, Bulga. ph65751200 Our contact details are: [email protected] mob.0427224350 PS. If you bring your birth certificate or passport with you, your application will be easy to get into the system. Sue Gleeson Gleeson
