25.01.2022 When it comes to nyala, there's no confusion about which are the boys and which are the girls. Anyone else think the girls share an uncanny similarity with the Central African Bongo? For more details on hunting nyala, check out Episode 5 of I Am Hunter, where Tash spent 4 days trekking through Limpopo in search of a male (nyala, that is). ... https://iamhunter.net/in/i-am-hunter-tv/episode-5-season-1/
24.01.2022 Continue to push back against stupid anti-hunting decisions. If we just complain to ourselves but never take active steps, we will continue to lose ground. But standing together - all hunters United together - we present a powerful voice that cannot be ignored!
24.01.2022 Jess has been out doing a bit of wallaby shooting and is now butchering it for the dogs, while Rod has been preparing a week’s worth of food for the pigs - all locally sourced. Rejected apricots from a local farm, second grade walnuts from another local farm, leftover whey from a local cheese factory and a little bit of grain from a local seed house.
23.01.2022 In Episode 6 of I Am Hunter, Rod and Jess head to the Northern Territory to hunt Australia's largest game animal - the Asiatic Water Buffalo. Here's just a very short clip from that hunt. You can watch the whole episode at https://iamhunter.net/in/i-am-hunter-tv/episode-6-season-1/ or by subscribing to MyOutdoorTV
23.01.2022 The very best way to stand in the face of opposition is to stand together! For far too long, hunters have fought amongst themselves, or at least only defended their patch of hunting. Hunters are too easily divided into niches: duck hunters, deer hunters, pig hunters, trophy hunters, meat hunters, predator hunters... Remember the old saying: United we stand, divided we fall! ... In fact, you can take it one step further and paraphrase another famous quote: First they came for the trophy hunter, and I did not speak out Because I was not a trophy hunter. Then they came for the duck hunter and I did not speak out Because I was not a duck hunter. Then they came for the pig hunter, and I did not speak out Because I was not a pig hunter. Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak for me. Check out this article for 5 other ways that hunters can fight negativity. https://iamhunter.net//6-ways-hunters-can-fight-negativity/
22.01.2022 Throw back to Tash’s monster trophy ground squirrel!
21.01.2022 In episode 6 of I Am Hunter, Rod and Jess made sure to harvest the back straps off the buffalos they hunted. They vacuumed sealed these up in the GameSaver and brought them home to Tasmania, where they were wet aged and then cooked in a sous vide. Can you guess how much a single buffalo back strap weighs? For more behind the scenes information on their NT Buffalo hunt, check out https://iamhunter.net/in/i-am-hunter-tv/episode-6-season-1/
20.01.2022 What the duck is going on in Victoria? Today, the Animal Justice Party fired yet another shot at hunters in Victoria when they floated a bill to ban #duckseason2021. Add this to the bill they have already put forward to radically rewrite the Animal Welfare Act in Victoria and it doesn't take a genius to recognise old mate Daniel Andrews has sold hunters down the river in return for AJP votes. ... Find out more about this bill and how you can fight in by clicking the link. It's time for hunters to unite. Let's stand together and fight this direct assault on our way of life. https://iamhunter.net//duck-hunting-under-threat-in-victo/ #duckhunting #whattheduck #hunting #huntingvictoria #duckhunt
20.01.2022 For years, both Jess and Tash have hunted with their dad, Rod - but this year, Jess has finally flown the coop, and will be deer hunting without Dad by her side! With Rod and Jess heading off to different properties for the Tassie deer season, we thought it was time Jess got her own spotting scope instead of always borrowing Dad's. Watch as Jess unboxes her new spotting scope. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoarJk8CpzU&feature=youtu.be #findwhatmatters #burrisoptics #tassiedeerseason
18.01.2022 Research consistently shows that feral cats are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity. Yet ironically, all the Greenies in Tasmania remain focused on eradicating deer and are largely silent on any real effort to reduce feral cat numbers! https://www.abc.net.au//tasmanian-researcher-tra/13039484
17.01.2022 There is this really misguided concept amongst the general public that a natural death for animals is preferable to a death by a Hunter. But a natural death is rarely quick and painless or even humane. It often involves becoming food for a predator, or slowly starving to death due to their teeth being worn down (like this example).

14.01.2022 We take our hats off to Scott Freeman from the Australian Deer Association, and Andrew Winwood from the Tasmanian Deer Advisory Council on their recent testimony before an Australian Senate Inquiry into deer management, which went a long way to setting the record straight on some of the myths and outright lies being spread about deer in Australia. Don't forget - you also have the chance to have your say in how deer will be managed here in Tasmania. Below are details of the ...Public Information sessions you can attend to hear more about deer management, and to allow your voice to be heard. https://iamhunter.net//tasmanian-wild-fallow-deer-managem/ Public Information Session times: Bothwell 23 November 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm Bothwell Football Club Rooms, Bothwell Football Ground Longford 24 November 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm Riverlands Centre, 159 Wellington Street, Longford Ulverstone 25 November 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm Ulverstone Sports and Leisure Centre, Flora Street, West Ulverstone Brighton 26 November 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm Brighton Civic Centre, 25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater https://www.austdeer.com.au//hunters-deliver-a-dose-of-rea

12.01.2022 In episode 5 of I Am Hunter, Tash was pipped at the post on her first nyala, which died of natural causes. Can you guess what killed it? While she was eventually successful with a second nyala, Tash has always considered that first animal to be part of her hunt experience, which is why she asked Highveld Taxidermists to include it on her Zulu shield mount. ... 11.01.2022 Have you noticed how many celebrities and influential people have jumped on board the #BanTrophyHunting bandwagon? They are pressuring Western governments to ban all hunting trophies, believing that such a move would bring an end to trophy hunting in African countries, and therefore would 'save' Africa's iconic wildlife from extinction. They passionately believe that a ban on hunting is the best outcome for animals, so surely this move is backed by scientists, right? So how... come 133 of the world's most prominent conservation scientists have written an open letter begging Western governments NOT to ban hunting. These are not hunters trying to protect their 'sport'. Nor are they receiving funding from hunting organisations. But they adamantly believe that a hunting ban in African countries would have a detrimental affect on wildlife populations. Find out why science doesn't support a hunting ban. https://iamhunter.net//why-scientists-do-not-back-a-hunti/

09.01.2022 Great questions from the SFFP here in Tasmania on the real goals of the Invasive Species Council. They seem far more concerned with ending hunting and fishing than they do in protecting vulnerable wildlife.
08.01.2022 The weather is definitely heating up at the moment, which means we're swapping out our hunting rifles for our fishing rods. If you want a cheap and effective way to store your rods while travelling, check out this quick #fishing hack. https://iamhunter.net//how-to-store-fishing-rods-for-trav/
08.01.2022 Attended the wild deer forum in Tassie tonight and must say it would be great if Tasmania followed in Victoria’s footsteps (not often you’ll see us say that) and recognized the economic benefit hunting tourism can bring the state. https://www.austdeer.com.au//hey-big-spender-deer-hunters-
07.01.2022 In episode 7 of I Am Hunter, Rod, Jess and Tash go on a driven hunt for wallabies using dogs. While it was a first time experience for them, this style of hunting dates all the way back to Colonisation. In fact, some very, very famous people travelled to Tasmania to take part in a driven wallaby hunt. Can you name a famous scientist who hunted wallabies in Tasmania? ... You'll find the answer plus loads more information about this style of hunting in the Behind the Scenes pages on I Am Hunter. https://iamhunter.net/in/i-am-hunter-tv/episode-7-season-1/
05.01.2022 If you have been hunting for a long time, it's easy to forget how much there is to learn about guns when you first start out. Rod and the kids pretty much grew up around hunting, and have always been pretty comfortable with firearms. But I didn't fire a rifle for the first time until I was 45! Whether you're brand new to hunting or even still thinking about taking it up, it certainly helps to know the butt end from the muzzle, as well as having a basic understanding of cali...bers and ammunition and how all the working parts come together to make a firearm. https://iamhunter.net/into-/the-abcs-of-bolt-action-rifles/
05.01.2022 Looks like those against duck hunting are not in the majority after all no matter how hard Andy Meddick wants to claim they are!

04.01.2022 The important reminder here is to always make sure you are doing the right thing while out hunting. Sure, social media is being monitored for breaches but you can only be charged if you are actually breaching a law. http://www.sportingshooter.com.au//social-media-posts-are-
