22.01.2022 UPDATE 31/3/20 The Australian Government has now publicised the recommendations of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC). The AHPPC recommends adopting the ‘Managing COVID-19 Guidelines’ published by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and implementing a triage (priority assessment) system for dental practice. AHPPC recommends that all dental practices implement level 3 restrictions as outlined in ADA’s guidance. That is, dentists should only perfo...rm dental treatments that do not generate aerosols, or where treatment generating aerosols is limited. All routine examinations and treatments should be deferred. Huon Valley Dental Care has adopted these recommendations, this means that dental treatment required will be assessed on a case by case basis. All appointments will be screened by phone prior to confirmation. Our fully accredited private dental surgery complies with all Infection Control Guidelines, and we have added additional measures including hand sanitiser at the entrance, mouth rinse prior to exam/treatment, PPE, decontamination, cleaning and disinfecting procedures to ensure protection of our staff and patients. As this is a rapidly evolving situation we will update you of any changes as advised. For more information or to check on our opening hours during this time please phone us on 03 6264 1922 or see our website www.huonvalleydental.com.au Please note we cannot make appointments via email, you must phone the practice.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 update: Now moving to Level 1 restrictions This is great news for all patients wishing to continue their dental care, noting that there are still restrictions and conditions in place: - all appointments will be screened by phone prior to confirmation, and any confirmed, probable or suspect cases of COVID-19 will be referred / delayed to reduce risk to other patients and staff attending the practice... - hand hygiene on arrival and departure from the practice, and social distancing in the waiting room is required - no magazines, toys or books are present in our waiting room. We are now open 4 days per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday) and welcome all patients, current and new, to phone to make a suitable appointment.

19.01.2022 UPDATE 23/3/20 Huon Valley Dental has taken the advice of the Australian Dental Association which recommends Level 2 precautions: 'Defer routine dental treatment that is considered to be non-urgent and will not impact on the dental or... general health of the patient'' We will continue to provide ongoing and urgent dental care to patients, but will ask regular non-urgent (e.g. 6 monthly) checkups be deferred until further notice. If you are a current patient and are experiencing any dental issues requiring attention, please phone us on 6264 1922 to make an appointment and we will endeavour to assist.

16.01.2022 Thank you to all applicants - we have received a large number of responses and are now working through these. Apologies for the confusion / typo regarding hours per fortnight (not week). No further applicants please - the ad is now closed.

13.01.2022 DENTAL HEALTH WEEK IS HERE Time to take a closer look at your supermarket purchases. They’re not as healthy as you might think.... Being healthy is something that most of us aim for. We brush our teeth twice a day. We go for a jog around the neighbourhood. We eat a handful of nuts instead of chomping on a chocolate. We see our doctor whenever we don’t feel well. But are you aware that all your good work could be being undone by sugars lurking in the depths of many of the processed food items you consume? Sugar is everywhere in supermarket staples, even some that might appear to be healthy on the surface, and so this Dental Health Week (3 - 9 August | dentalhealthweek.com.au), we’re pulling back the sugary curtain to show you what’s really in the food you eat, and how this information can help you be healthier all over but especially in your mouth. In other words, we want you to become more sugar savvy. Dental Health Week is an annual event run by the Australian Dental Association which aims to make everyone aware of the key things they need to do to keep their teeth and gums healthy. (ADA 2020)

05.01.2022 Due to the current risk / infection rate of the COVID-19/Corona virus which is now impacting Tasmania, we have made a few changes: So we can protect our patients from potentially contracting the virus we ask that you use the hand sanitiser placed at the entrance immediately on entering the practice. Any patients who has travelled to any overseas country, are asked to reschedule their appointment at least 14 days upon arrivel on home soil.... In addition, our staff will be regularly decontaminating all surface areas with anti-bacterial, and have as an extra precaution removed the magazines from the waiting room. As usual we will be maintaining our high standard of infection control, and have sourced and maintained all necessary PPE (masks, gloves etc) as required to safely manage all patient interactions / appointments. Should you require more information, please go to the Tasmanian Public Health Coronavirus update page: https://www.dhhs.tas.gov.au//infectious_diseas/coronavirus We thank you for your cooperation in limiting the spread of this virus. Kind Regards Huon Valley Dental Team
