24.01.2022 At just 450m long, Bathurst Harbour Airstrip is one of the most unique runways in the world. Constructed from tailings (fine white quartz rock debris) from the ...nearby tin mine, not much has changed since Deny King started work on it in the late 1950s. There are no roads to Melaleuca, so the airstrip is the first place bushwalkers and other National Park visitors set foot in the Southwest, unless arriving by boat. 22.01.2022 I woke this morning, the blanket pulled high up to my chin, staring out into the grey light and wattle blossom. I could feel myself grow restless, churning opti...ons in my mind. Ifs and shoulds whirling in my mind. It occurred to me that my life of late has been too busy, too full. Too much worry about my dad burbling in the background, too many emotions of relationships, loves and desires, too much fullness in my life. But what I lacked was stillness. Quiet moments, gaps in time to contemplate, or not, to be empty and take fulfillment from that emptiness. Every moment, these past months felt stuffed with conversation, crammed with emotions, bursting at the seems with careful navigation... and what I desire most right now is empty nothingness, empty quiet.

13.01.2022 Hastings Thermal Pool temporary closure for urgent maintenance. PWS staff continue to work on a pool maintenance issue and this will likely take several days to resolve. The thermal spring pool remains closed until further notice. The Visitor Centre Café will be open and cave tours will operate as normal during the pool closure - bookings are essential.

08.01.2022 #BREAKING: Premier Peter Gutwein has announced an additional $5 million in Tasmanian travel vouchers will be released on September 30. It comes in addition to t...he $7.5 million already allocated to vouchers for accommodation and tourism experiences, aimed at boosting tourism in Tasmania. The voucher program will open 7pm next Wednesday and will be available via a dedicated hotline as well as the Make Yourself At Home website. The interest (in the first tranche), I must say, did surprise all of us, Mr Gutwein said. Gone in 38 minutes was just extraordinary. I am certain there will be incredible demand for this again.
