24.01.2022 A day the Bulls would much rather forget unfortunately... A GRADE - Round 3 v. Snug With the Bulls batting first in perfect conditions, the top order couldn’t take full advantage. The vice captain Tyler Clark was patient at the crease and played a gutsy innings to finish with 25 runs, Jacob Glover made 19 runs, with the next best Jayden Clark with 18 runs, both who also looked good at the crease but just couldn’t quite get going as they would have liked.... Only defending 88, Snug came out ready to play there shots, Rodney Carmichael done most of the damage, getting half the runs off his own bat, before being undone by Jack Heawood, stumped by Jayden Clark. The hand leg spinner in Luke Hoggett picked up another wicket this week, dismissing Jack Gates. Snug defeating the Bulls by eight wickets. Huonville Bulls 88 (T. Clark 25, B. Grimsey 4/20, D. Millhouse 3/28) defeated by Snug 2-89 (R. Carmichael 41, J. Pregnell 21). B GRADE REPORT TO COME...

08.01.2022 C GRADE REPORT - ROUND 3 v. Summerleas Eagles The Huonville Bulls C Grade side hosted the Summerleas Eagles last Sunday in their Round 3 clash. Losing the toss, the Bulls found themselves in the field with Virginia Grimsey and skipper Grant Lovekin taking the new ball.... Virginia bowling very tight was putting the pressure on the Eagles’ batsman, thus was causing them to make errors with saw Virginia taking the first two wickets of the game, caught by Michael Rudolf and Grant Lovekin. Young Hamish Burge was also in a wicket taking mood, proceeding to take to next two wickets of the game, thanks to a catch from Tyson Parbs and the other wicket cleaned bowled. Eagles 4-76. Jacob Pedder was thrown the ball and much like Virginia and Hamish, he took two wickets of own, bowling some absolute hand grenades to the Eagles’ batsman. Tyson Parbs trapped the Eagles’ lower order batsman in front of the stumps and was fired LBW, to add to Tysons good day in the field with an earlier run out and catch. Skipper Lovekin made sure that everyone got a bowl and had a go, which saw the Bulls have a total of 248 to chase down. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot to report on from a batting point of view. Highlights from the batting innings would have to be 7th wicket 10 run partnership between youngsters Hamish Burge and Curtis Read who both faced over 30 balls each and had some great practice out in the middle. Michael Rudolf was impressive with the bat in just his second game of the season, top scoring and smashing out a quick made 22 runs, including a couple of boundaries here and there, much to the delight of the vocal crowd. Virginia Grimsey played a solid anchor role at the end to finish with 3 not out. A fantastic effort in the end for the C Grade side with everyone being able to take out positives from the day. Well done!! Go Bulls A win will not be far away...

Virginia Grimsey scored her highest score for the season, making 17 runs not out including a couple of boundaries. Fraser Johns, the birthday boy, was on fire with the ball, opening the bowling and taking 4/38 off his eight overs. His partner in crime, Michael Rudolf also took two wickets, one of the wickets being a caught and bowled which was mentioned as being a catch that had to be seen to be believed. See you all soon!

03.01.2022 A GRADE REPORT - ROUND 7 v. Kettering The Huonville Bulls A1 Grade side was on the road again for the fourth week in a row, travelling to Kettering to take on the Mariners before the Christmas break last Saturday. Bulls’ skipper Josh O’Connor won the toss and elected to bat.... A new opening batting partnership was seen for the first time, Matt Burge walking out to the crease with Adam Youd. Burge was patient, but unfortunately came undone early, through the Mariners’ Reece Schuth. Youd continued on and was scoring runs regularly, while vice-captain Tyler Clark was just getting himself settled in, when he was caught sharply at square leg. Youd was now joined by Clark brother, Jayden. Youd saw the Bulls through into the 90s, before being dismissed for a well-made 39 runs. Jayden was patiently getting himself settled, whacking a couple away to the boundary to get the nerves off his back. He was joined by ex-opener Logan Bligh late in the innings. Bligh was hogging the majority of the strike and taking full advantage of the bowling down the order, while Clark continued on and was scoring at ease, the pair combining for a partnership of over 50. Bligh departed for a quickfire 27 runs off 19 balls. Clark was the man in form though, bringing up his half century in the 45th over. After raising the bat, he was quick to continue to back himself in and punish any bowling that came his way, finishing with a well-constructed 73 not out, seeing the Bulls to a total of 213 runs to defend. Isaac Dean was quick to get the Bulls going with the ball, dismissing Kettering’s opener Kaspar Deane in his second over. Mariners’ captain Braedon Allen was next to go, with young Jack Heawood thumping the ball into his pads to get him LBW. Jack Shelton and Cam Wheatley dug in for the home side, but Shelton was removed at the hands of Josh O’Connor and the slick glovework of Jayden Clark, stumped. Kettering’s middle and bottom order continued to fight on, with Wheatley remaining as the rock of their innings. The game was getting tighter and tighter, but there was a huge sigh of relief when Matt Burge caught Wheatley off Tyler Clark, to see him go for 52 runs. The Mariners dragged the game out to the final over, but the Bulls were home, winning by 33 runs. Josh O’Connor and Tyler Clark were the only multiple wicket takers for the day, O’Connor with three and Clark with two, Jack Heawood, Isaac Dean and Michael Parbs all finished with one wicket each. The Bulls will now go into sixth place on the ladder, looking to jump into finals after the Christmas break.
01.01.2022 ROUND 3 - B GRADE v. Summerleas Eagles HIGHLIGHTS! Josh Dobson finishing with figures of 3/53 off his 10 overs, putting him in the top 5 wicket takers for the comp in B Grade this season.... Marcus Bennett also picking up 3 wickets in his first game of the season. Jackson Geeves on debut for the Bulls opened his wicket taking account on Saturday, combining with his brother Dylan to take his first wicket for the club. Tim Lowe opened the batting and scored a well made 72 runs. Young Bulls Angus Smith and Dylan Geeves were the next best with the bat, both scoring mid 20s.
