24.01.2022 Its been a busy couple of weeks for Hurricane Marine, kicking off the first Sunday of February with a salvage on Tasmanias South Coast. We were contacted to help Lady Lay get free from heavy bull kelp after her anchor dragged in Louisa Bay. Due to the increasing swell and wind, the vessel had sustained several holes which needed to be patched before she could proceed to a safer port. 23.01.2022 Hurricane Marine recently performed one of our trickier slippings - this superb Hudson 48 Powercat Magnetic had just 30mm clearance each side at Taylor Marines Travel Lift facility. We had to haul out, wet sand, Antifoul, replace the anodes, renew the PropSpeed an polish the top sides. Hard not to be drawn to this Magnetic girl. ... It’s a bit of a squeeze (literally millimetres to spare) getting this big girl in and out of her home at Constitution Dock, for a spruce up at the Domain Slipway.... 10.01.2022 Hurricane Marine had an early but picturesque start again this morning as the crew continue works on Darlington Jetty on Maria Island, off Tasmanias East Coast. Storm damage had caused some structural failures to the wharf and HM has been tasked with pinning the piles to the headstocks of the jetty. It involves preparing the piles, core drilling, glueing the pins in, welding plates on and wrapping the piles back up for protection.... Devils and wombats roaming around in such close proximity was pretty amazing. We didnt even approach them to take these photos.
