09.01.2022 Total Daily Energy Expenditure or TDEE What is it? Your TDEE is an estimate of how many calories your body burns in 24 hours including exercise. It is made up of 4 components 1. BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate Your BMR is calculated on your height, weight & age. It is the amount of energy your body burns daily, in a resting state. We don’t have much control over our BMR and it can adapt depending on your progress and age.... 2. TEF = Thermic Effect of Food Your TEF is pretty much how many calories your body burns digesting the food you consume. Out of our macronutrients, protein has the highest thermic effect and will burn more calories during digestion than both fats and carbohydrates. 3. NEAT = Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis NEAT is the calories you burn doing unintentional exercise, this can involve the amount of steps you do during the day down to something as simple as fidgeting. 4. EAT = Exercise Activity Thermogenesis Last is EAT, this is planned (intentional) exercise. Whether that is through coming to the gym, a sport you play or going for a run. See more

06.01.2022 I’ll be happy when... I lose 10kg I fit into those clothes I find a relationship I change jobs ... How many people have fallen into the trap of saying ‘I’ll be happy when’? I know I’ve caught myself doing it in the past But I had to pull myself up on it Now I’m all about having goals to work towards in all areas of my life, health & fitness, business, relationships etc. but if you’re counting on your happiness being that next step away. You’ll never be happy. And at the end of the day you’ll look back and regret not living in the moment. Work towards new goals, but don’t rely on those goals to feel happiness and joy in life, feel those things now by being grateful for where you’re at, while working towards what you want. The grass isn’t greener on the other side, it’s green where you water it See more

02.01.2022 PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD What is it? Progressive overload is when we focus on gradually increasing the weight, repetitions, sets or frequency of our training. This means when performing certain exercises, in particular our compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, overhead press, etc. we want to gradually increase the amount of weight we’re lifting or the amount of reps we’re performing, always with correct form and our full range of motion. Rushing through reps and not fo...cusing on our form is never ok this will put you at a greater risk of injury and not help you progress in any way. Why is it important? If you want to change your body composition, by that I mean gain lean muscle mass and lose body fat, then you should be focusing on your strength progressions (along with your diet). Your body will not change unless it is forced to, your skeletal muscle gets stronger by responding to your training, if you do not progressively overload the muscles by forcing them to do more than what they’re accustomed to (training intensity), then they will not make any further adaptions #hustlefitnessaustralia See more
