23.01.2022 My students are all absolute legends! I have drummers aged 6 years to 66 years. Some play jazz, some thrash. Some rip it up in front of their primary schools, some record and tour internationally. Drumming is a great way to work with people and meet new people, an awesome way to travel. It teaches us discipline and patience, gives our brain a boost and gives us something to strive for. We all learn to be better people. It has been a great year. Legends

05.01.2022 I thought Id post my own short list of female artists for International Womens Day. Because, seriously, its an awesome list. They all also happen to be Australian artists (we claim New Zealanders, unless they commit petty crime, in which case we send them back 30 years later). Theyre artists who are playing around right now and they also just happen to be mostly soul, jazz or hip hop. Some facts ; 30% of my students are female drummers... Not bad, but theres room for mo...re. My wife, mother in law, my mum and sister are all women! For real. Hi Post more artists / drummers in the comments.

05.01.2022 Follow up of a previous post - triplets?! Heres the next deal - Playing 16th note permutations (groups of 3) in 12/8, using the crotchet triplet to modulate it back to the more obvious sounding 6/4 groupings. 4 different permutations : 1e& , e+a, 1 +a, 1e a... 1 bar of each before modulating to the crotchet triplets for one bar. Cycle through the permutations. Metronome on 4/4 (playing in a triplet meter) at 75bpm. Yeah thats my idea of fun. #drums #drumlessons #metricmodulation #rhythmicgymnastics
