23.01.2022 Congratulations to our rowers Jarod McMullen, Dylan Taylor, Hamish Allan, Oliver Lamb, Charles Parnham and coach/Old Boy Alexander Thompson, U19 State Champions 4+ in a time of 6:41!

22.01.2022 During the July school holidays Hutchins was 1 of 24 teams competing in the Australian Schools Teams Racing Championship in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Penins...ula. This exciting format of racing brings a 3 on 3 dynamic to what is seen as a very individual sport. The team was comprised of Samuel King (Year 12, Captain), Nicholas Smart (Year 11, Vice-Captain), Will Cooper (Year 11), Charles Zeeman (Year 10), Howard Tapping (Year 9), Christopher Eyre (Year 8), Oliver Hugo (Year 8) and Charlie Salmon (Year 7) and was coached by Hutchins Old Boy and 2018 Australian Sailing Tasmania Coach of the Year Elliot Noye (‘09). The team battled hard over the five day competition, qualifying 4th after the round robin for the top eight final series. Strong winds halted the start of the finals for 4 hours until they race committee deemed it safe to start racing again. Although the team finished 5th in the finals it goes to show what a strong competition it was as all top 8 teams had won and lost to each other in the round robin series. I would like to formally congratulate and thank the team on their efforts and the way they represented Hutchins on and off the water in such a positive manner. Thanks goes to the families of the boys that either came over to the event or followed closely from home as well as former Headmaster Mr Warwick Dean that came down to cheer on and support the team.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Vincent Harman (Year 10) and Henry Chambers (Year 12) who represented Tasmania at the Australian Under 18 Men's Indoor Hockey Championships held in Goulburn NSW last week.

21.01.2022 We are State Champions!!! Outstanding result at the WMO today with our cricketers claiming the title for the first time in 8 years. It was a thrilling finish t...his morning with skipper Dominic Hughes-Churchett stepping up when it mattered to claim the last 2 wickets in consecutive balls to give us a valuable first innings lead. Dom’s 5/16 helped dismiss Scotch for 103 in reply to our 115 in a very tense morning session. We then batted beautifully in the afternoon racking up 5/209 with half centuries to Caleb Oakes (73) and Caedence Kuepper (51). Congratulations to coach Mark Divin and all the boys, a fantastic result! In more great news for Hutchins cricket, the 2nds also won the state flag up north today. Our boys made 8/129 and restricted Grammar to 9/92 off their 45 overs to claim our second consecutive 2nd XI premiership!

16.01.2022 Please note Water Polo cancellations for tonight.

10.01.2022 Hutchins First XI v Hutchins Old Boys Yesterday on the WMO the First XI took on a few familiar Hutchins faces in the traditional Old Boys fixture. With 25 year ...veteran of the event, Tim Scott once again at the helm, the Old Boys held on in a thrilling finish that went down to the last ball. With a 6 required to win the game, old boy Scooter Nicholls calmly sent one down outside the off stump and through to the keeper to secure the oldies bragging rights for another year. It was the first time the match has been a T20 game and there was even some walk on music as we tried to emulate the big bash! Thanks to all players from both sides for giving up their time to play. This was an excellent warm up for the First XI, who are off to Launceston next week for a SATIS T20 tournament. Teams: Old Boys: Tim Scott, Matthew Clark, Scott Nicholls, Harry Nicholls, Zac Bury, Carter Hansen, Angus Szoke, Alec Kelly, Wills Thompson, Stuart Hammond, Brendan Hay. First XI: Lewis Drury, Lachie Prescott, George Mazengarb, Caleb Oakes, Dominic Hughes- Churchett, Caedence Kuepper, Jono Towns, James Browne, James Britton, Raman Law, Clancy Pickering, Archie Banks-Smith. Scores: Old Boys 8/137 (Scott 20, Browne 3/23) defeated First XI 6/132 (Drury 37, Oakes 25, Clark 2-6)

08.01.2022 The SATIS cricket roster commenced yesterday with a T20 tournament in Launceston. The boys were off to a great start with a win over Launceston Church Grammar i...n the first game but went down to St Patrick's College in the afternoon. This morning was a close match against Scotch Oakburn College with the boys winning by only one run! The final was against Launceston Church Grammar with Hutchins opening and finishing with 6/129. Caleb Oakes contributed an aggressive 30 and Caedence Kuepper 23 and Max Denehey 19. Grammar got off to a flyer in the chase, racing to 0-62 off 8 overs. Caedence Kuepper dragged us back into it removing both openers in the same over. Things again went down to the wire, with our boys holding their nerve under some high balls and at the bowling crease. Skipper Dominic Hughes-Churchett 4-22 stood up when it mattered. Thanks to coach Mark Divin for his commitment and guidance of the boys and to Mr Travis Little for accompanying the team. A fantastic couple of days which has set us up nicely for the SATIS season proper which begins this weekend.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 11 students Josh Ragg and Sam King. 2017 SB20 Australian Championship Youth Class winners!

03.01.2022 We are excited to announce Richard Allanby ('89) as our First XI cricket coach for next season. Richard is an experienced cricketer and coach, having a long and... decorated career in the game. Richard has represented the Tasmanian Tigers as a player and coach. He has a strong background in coaching young players, being involved in many underage state teams. An Old Boy of the school, Richard is very keen to give back and is excited to work with our talented young cricketers. A big thank you to outgoing coach Mark Divin, who has done an outstanding job developing our program over the last 5 seasons, culminating in winning the State Title last year. Mark was unable to continue in the role due to business and family commitments. We wish you all the best Div and welcome you on board Rich!

02.01.2022 The CRJFA Executive has decided to CANCEL ALL Central Region Junior Football Association matches this Saturday. Cancelling the round early provides certainty and safety for all our families. Stay safe everyone.

02.01.2022 Our First XI have earnt the right to host the cricket state final next week after a dominant display yesterday. A mammoth 188 from Lewis Drury that included 30 ...boundaries and 3 sixes was the highlight of our big win against St Pats. Lewis combined with Caleb Oakes (78) for an outstanding 195 run partnership. Next week the First XI play Friday and Saturday in the State Final on the WMO and the 2s will also play on Saturday in the final. An exciting week ahead! See more
