16.01.2022 What is a Guna??? Gunas in Sanskrit means a strand or a rope. All of creation (Prakriti or universal nature) is made up of these three qualities (in different ratios). These forces of nature are sattva, rajas, and tamas. This week we dive into our first Guna. RAJAS.... Rajas is a state of energy, action, change and movement. All the element are an essential part of our being, the Earth element brings us a sense of grounding and stability. An ability to navigate when things become a little turbulent. ... Most of the time we create this turbulence in our inner world through not dealing with things, letting things slide and not expressing ourselves freely. Sometimes the outer world can have an effect on us and depending how grounded or Earthed we are will determines how effected we become. This morning in class I experienced something for the first time. After ending the class with namaste not one person moved, total stillness and quietness for another 6 minutes or so. So this practice is a chance to come back to myself. I find myself seeking the moon. The grounded luminosity. Needing that feeling of calm openness. As I rise from a deep fold, I can feel my energy grounding. My thoughts slowing. My mind focussing. I feel more like me. Like the me I want to be. And the things that were bothering me when I started fade into nothingness. On the best days I carry the moon with me throughout my day. On harder days, it might be gone in an instant. In that moment of this reminder, I feel a release. I feel a sense of freedom and spaciousness in the letting go of expectation. And I love how that feels.... I keep these words close to me each time my mind goes... I want to be over there. I should be doing this. I wish I was doing that. I want this to happen. How come this didn't work out the way I thought it would? Can you relate? It reminds me that where I am right now and whats here for me right now is as its meant to be. If something is part of my path, itll happen and work out in whatever way that looks. And if it's not, it's ok... Note to self It's easy to get stuck in the cycle of expectation, anticipation, disappointment, frustration, worry, comparison and all the other wonderful mind stories that ultimately teach you to remember that you are enough already. That you are exactly where youre meant to be, and that getting stuck in these mind stories means stepping out of presence of your experience, right here, right now.
