24.01.2022 SO YOU THINK FIT LOOKING PEOPLE NEVER EAT JUNK? When you see someone with a flat stomach or 6 pack you think They must never eat junk food or drink. Sometimes yeah you might be right but most of the time, WRONG! ... There’s a reason these guys train so hard in the gym and eat so well most of the time So they can enjoy themselves every once in a while. You can call it balance. Ever heard of cheat meals? It’s like a reward to them for putting in the hard yards to get to where they are. 6 pack and all The message here is that you need to sacrifice some of the things you enjoy in life for a bit and once you get to a stage where you’re happy, you can have a little bit more flexibility. Hold your horses. I’m not saying ruin everything you have achieved. There’s just a little more freedom at the end of the tunnel. But like I said before, You have to give up some things you enjoy for a while so you can achieve great things. Achieve your goals, then reward yourself. Not the other way around :)

24.01.2022 At the end of a stressful day at work the last thing you want to be thinking about is What am I going to do at the gym today!? If you are asking this question on the fly, on the way to the gym, whatever you decide is most likely not what you need anyhow ... Knowing the program is written for you as well as knowing there's over 20 years experience behind that program is comforting at the end of the day One less thing to worry about, especially when chasing results It frees up space allowing you to enjoy your workout whilst still working hard This leaves you filled with energy by the time you get home to the kids rather than exhausted and mentally drained Shown here is part of our warm up where we start to use some of the muscles that have been "asleep" all day in front of the screens This assists posture and helps keep our shoulders healthy Train smarter not harder #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #EmpoweringYou See more

24.01.2022 Leadership . It takes a lot of skill to lead and to lead well it takes experience . Ben has been in the game for a long time now, so long... people would think, 'wow you're still doing that?!' ... . What he does, he does exceptionally well and the reason why he's been doing it all this time is because he is passionate. . Absolutely loves what he does and you will notice this if you meet him . The community looks up to him, are inspired by him and follow he's guidance. . If you're looking for a coach to get you closer to your goals This guy might just be who you are looking for . 23.01.2022 Joint Health A huge peice in achieving or maintaining healthy joints is the ability to use that joint through its full range We adapt quickly to the stresses we do or do not place on our bodies... In the general population more often than not it is a lack of movement that causes pain, not the other way around When we don't move, some things tighten up, others get lazy and don't want to help at all Knowing what is working well (usually too well, i.e tight) and what isn't working well is the first step The second is selecting exercises and posture that force the body to recruit the lazy stuff (this is very difficult at first) but hard work pays off Here we show part of our warm up, exploring the extremes of our range in "protracted" position Explore the body, keep moving The body will thank you for it #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #support #friends #FuelHappiness #weightloss #sleep #happy #commit #hiphinge See more

22.01.2022 This is a touchy subject when we talk about the children of today but sometimes we also need to face reality. It's estimated that 28% of children in Australia struggle with obesity and being overweight. Between the ages of 4-15, 1 in 6 children are overweight and in that age bracket 1 in 14 are obese. What is the cause of this? Well, there are many factors that can contribute to this problem. Here are some below. ... 1. Processed foods - What we have access to these days is ridiculous... You can get a hamburger for $2.50 at McDonalds! But a salad cost more... Processed foods are made cheap, easy to consume and take little to no prep. 2. Screen time - Kids these days spend a lot more time in front of a screen instead of a ball, bike or play equipment. Whether is TV, Ipad, computer or phone. They are addicted to the screen. Which makes them less active and we all know what happens if you don't move it... You lose it... 3. Habits - As much as it hurts to hear this for some, it's the habits that have a big controlling factor to health and fitness. What we put on our kids plates, what we buy them for school lunch, what we eat at family dinners, what we do on family outings and activities all contribute to children's lifestyles. So with the 3 points above I think there is a lot to think about. How can we create a better future for our kids? What can we do now to help decrease the statistics? What are we doing right now that's affecting their health? Where can I get help? There is no 1 way around this. It will take time, patience and sacrifice but the return will be well worth it. You can take my word for it. Together we can create a healthier, fitter and stronger future for our kids!

22.01.2022 Does your posture sux? Mine sure did! Just because you are exercising doesn't necessarily mean you are doing your posture any favours... Again it's not what you do but HOW you do it that counts A few years ago I made some attempts to improve my posture, I share with you why I failed so you don't have to Often change doesn't happen as soon as we'd like but stay consistent with your efforts and you will get there! #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #EmpoweringYou #shoulder #health

21.01.2022 Are you prepared!? Or Are you a last minute person? Do you decide on the day weather you go to the gym or do you plan a week ahead and schedule in a gym session?... Do you prepare your meals for the week? or do you order take away because you weren't prepared with your food? When it comes to results and achieving your goals preparation is one of the key ingredients to success. It takes time, patience, consistency and hard work to be organised but...I tell you what, when you achieve your goals, I bet it would all be worth it! So here are a few tips to get the ball rolling 1. Start a schedule - Decide what days your are working out, lock in the days when you prep your meals and create a promise to yourself that you will make up for the days you miss in the gym or the fast food you eat occasionally. 2. Accountability - This is a big subject when it comes to consistency. Sometimes you need the people around you to keep you on your toes and a good way to do that is to tell them about your goals. Get them on board with you to help you stay on track. Join a gym with a community and great coaches to help you too! 3. A reminder - Place your "health and fitness" goal somewhere you will see it everyday. It could be a picture of something you want to achieve, a goal written on a piece of paper, a reminder in your phone to tell you to keep going. Something to remind you to stay on track and a reason why you started in the first place. I hope this helps!! FIrst things first... Set your goals!! Create a plan, then attack! Good luck out there and let us know if we can help with anything health and fitness! That's what we are here for

21.01.2022 Many people have tight hip flexors - Just as many are trying to stretch them out, well meaning attempts to improve posture and strrength - Often the case is that its not what you do but HOW you do it that counts... - Here we see a typical compensation. We are trying to stretch the left side but the body doesn't want to play ball - You can see the left side of the hip rotated outwards so as to avoid the stretch - This can be frustrating for those "doing the right things" but not seeing results - Spend longer setting up and aligning your body for the implied intent and fast track your results #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #EmpoweringYou #Goals #Results

20.01.2022 ARE YOU NOT EATING ENOUGH? There’s information out there telling you that eating less is the way to go about things when it comes to weight loss or keeping excess weight off. Portion control is important especially when it comes to achieving goals but it doesn’t mean you need to eat less. ... Where it’s going wrong is people are starving themselves and their bodies to get results. Yes, it may work but there are some consequences with it. These can play with your hormones, emotions, recovery, malnutrition, energy, moods, brain function and more. When we think of eating less, we mean, eat less calories. Science proves in most cases if you eat less calories than you are burning daily, weight loss happens. We have talked about calories before and how to best tackle them but if you need help with it send us a message. Check out some of our previous posts about nutrition and calories. So before you go ahead with cutting your meals down, figure out how many calories you need to consume based on your goals e.g. weight loss, muscle gain, maintenance etc. The thing with cutting down meals and not giving the body enough fuel is, yes, you might lose weight but you also might experience some negatives along the way for example, if your body isn’t recovered properly after exercise you are at higher risk of injuries. Quick tip - Think nutritious foods full of vitamins and minerals. Rather than eating the same stuff but just less of it. Be sure to reach out for help!

20.01.2022 Why have so many people decided to join a gym?! Post covid gyms are getting filled with new members. It’s busier than ever! Why have people decided now is a good time to join the gym or start working out again. ... The lockdown gave a lot of people time to think and realise how important health and fitness is. During the lockdown a big chunk of people did more eating and less moving (not everyone) and we all know the result of that. But it didn’t just affect us physically, the lockdown also impacted us mentally. Feeling trapped, no socialising, little human interaction, limitation on where we can go and do. Everyone knows how good exercising is for you physically and mentally so when gyms reopened, BOOM! People wanted to get out of the house, off the couches, interact with other people and be able to do something that makes them feel GOOD! This is great! The more people keen on getting fit and healthy the better! What would be interesting to see is, who is going to maintain this lifestyle?! If you have recently joined a gym or got back into training here’s a few tips to keep you on track. If you haven’t already, SET YOURSELF A GOAL! This is crucial when it comes to kicking goals. E.g go to gym 4 x a week, lose X kilos, run X distance. Check out some of our other blogs about goal setting Get others to jump on your wagon! It could be a friend or family member that you can drag along and workout with you! This is ACCOUNTABILITY. The idea is to keep each other on your toes and make sure you’re moving in the right direction. DON’T GIVE UP! Stop the excuses and think about why you started in the first place. You might need a daily reminder to keep you going. It could be a picture, your goal written somewhere you see everyday maybe even a reminder in your phone. Keep going and keep moving! You don’t want to be looking back thinking to yourself, ‘I wish I didn’t stop’ Keep crushing it team!

20.01.2022 How can I push myself more? So you’re going to the gym and eating relatively well but you feel like you need to be pushing yourself more The gym sessions are pretty cruisy, but hey at least you’re getting to the gym you tell yourself. You could cut down the midweek alcohol consumption but balance right? ... BUT you also want more results, better results, results that you can see and feel! There’s a lack of drive don’t worry we’ve all been there before. Now you’re thinking you need more of a challenge, something to get you moving in the right direction! Here’s a checklist of things you can tick away at for that extra push you’re looking for! Prioritise - Start putting your health and fitness first. We’re not saying don’t go out with your mates for a drink Have less drinks or do it less often. Drive so you don’t drink too much. Learn new cooking skills so you can make some healthy meals instead of take away. If you really want results, it takes SOME sacrificing along the way. Goals - Set yourself some targets you want to hit in a realistic time frame. Lose 5kgs before the end of the year, do 4-5 gym sessions a week, meal prep every sunday etc. Plan - Goals are achieved with a good plan. Create yourself a schedule you can stick to and do your best to stay on track! Put it in your calendar, diary, have a reminder, write it down etc. Think outside the box - Sometimes it’s not all about getting strong, lean and ripped. What about flexibility? Learning new skills? Balance? Have you tried yoga? Group training? Personal training? If you have been doing the same thing over and over again it might be time to spice things up if you want to push yourself more. If you get stuck send us a DM and we can help out! #hybridtraining #hornsbygym #gym #hornsby #workout #pushmore #hardworkpaysoff #nolimits #exercise #goals #results #health

18.01.2022 A typical trait of mothers is selflessness Complete love and service to their child or children They want nothing but the best... To avoid mistakes Improve on any downfalls of their own upbringing To ensure their family has the best possible upbringing Unfortunately, unintentionally this comes at a sacrifice to their own physical and mental wellbeing Carving out time for yourself is not at all selfish, in fact it will only improve your chances of providing the very best for your children When you feel good, feel confident, have energy this is when you are at your best This is when you can provide in the way you invisioned But this is only possible if you learn to put yourself first (as hard as that is) Keep moving #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #support #friends #FuelHappiness #weightloss #sleep #happy #commit #hiphinge #children See more

16.01.2022 6 weeks till the festive season! Woohoo! Are you excited?! The time to sit back, relax and take it all in. Yeah, that's right. I said relax :) ... But you know what would make it feel even better?! Smashing goals before the year ends! So, as you're reading this... Grab a pen and piece of paper and let's start brainstorming some goals together. Lose X amount of Kg's by Christmas Do 1 pull up Run 5km without stopping Run 5kms in under 10 mins Lift X amount in my back squat, deadlift, press etc Keep a food diary and track my macronutrients. - stick to daily targets Be able to do a handstand Complete a minimum 4 sessions a week for the rest of the year Complete over X amount of steps per day Above are some ideas to get the ball rolling and to help you pinpoint what exactly you'd like to achieve. Here are a few key points when setting goals 1. The KISS principle - Keep it simple stupid. Make sure your goals are simple and straight forward. You don't want to over complicate things and make it harder for yourself by setting unrealistic goals. 2. SMART - Specific, measureable, achievable, relevant, time. 3. Daily reminder - Make sure you have something that is constantly reminding you about your goals. This keeps you accountable and helps you stay on track. We hope this has helped and you've got some rock solid goals written down. Get out there and take it head on! Good luck and we hope you achieve your goals before the end of the year!

15.01.2022 Are you one to jump straight into a workout without warming up!? Great if you feel up for it, my guess is you've built a great foundation For the majority of us we need to do a liitle more work before getting into it all... The easiest form when short for time (maybe not the most comprehensive) is to prime through the movement you are looking to perform with a light weight or Dowel Give it a go! 15.01.2022 It's time to stop putting everyone else first... It's your turn now. . As human beings we have a common habit to try and please other people. It's makes them feel good, it's makes us feel good so it sounds like a win win. . But if it's affecting the things you want to achieve in life like your health and fitness maybe it's time to concentrate on yourself for once. ... . This isn't something you need to do alone either. Your family and friends will support you. Your coach will keep you accountable. Your trainer will put you through your paces. Your partner will put up with the "clean eating" lifestyle change. Fingers crossed . In the end they will all be there congratulating you for achieving your goals! Proud of you and be inspired by what you have achieved! . It's time. 15.01.2022 The time is NOW! When should you start exercising? go to the gym? get a personal trainer? go for a run? join a class? When is the right time? ... When's the best time to start? WHEN?! You know if you're asking yourself these questions you are only trying to stall... The time to start is now, ASAP. When ISN'T it a good time to get healthy, fit and strong? I reckon you know the answer. So here's what I'm going to do.... I'm going to put myself in the shoes of others who are thinking about changing their health and fitness for the better. First thing I'd do is jump on the web and do a google search for gyms around the area I want to train, it could be close to home, your work, on the way home from work etc. I'll check out what they do and look for places that would matches what I'm looking for. Commercial gyms, studio gyms, crossfit, circuit, boxing, cycling, group classes, community etc. Then, I'll narrow it down to a few gyms (2 or 3) and I'll check out the reviews. Most of the time I'd go for the one with better reviews but I will also factor in location, price, what the gym looks like etc. Then I'll jump on their socials, check them out to see what they do and what they're all about. Once I have chosen the gym, I'd call them to see how I can get started. This is personal preference. You can email or message. I find over the phone easiest to ask questions and find out more. Personally I wouldn't be enquiring if I know after I've spoken to them I'd say, 'yeah I'll think about it'. If I am keen, I am keen. I mean, If I feel a bad vibe... If they were rude or wasn't what I expected then I'll be honest and tell them, it's probably not for me. But everyone responds differently. A little research goes a long way and it will help you choose the right place to start. You can literally type in, 'best gym around (your suburb)' or 'best workout routine', 'best running program'. The biggest thing to do out of all this.... Is to START. No more excuses, no more procrastinating, no more stalling. The best time to begin is NOW! Get out there and look after yourself. Improve your health and fitness because we all know it's one of the best things you can ever do for yourself!

14.01.2022 Do you ever tell yourself 'I'm too sore to train...' . Is it really stopping you moving or is it just another excuse . 14.01.2022 We do things a little differently here at Hybrid The easiest way I can explain it is this Think back to when you were a kid... Did you first get taught the alphabet, one letter at a time, or to read? To count to 10 or do math? The former right!? It makes perfect sense That's why we also think it makes sense to first teach you HOW to squat, hinge, press etc BEFORE you start training Trying to learn, understand and control motor patterns whilst training at high intensity is never going to work Crawl before you can walk, walk before you run right? But we don't see anyone else doing it! FREE trail!? - Sure thing! Two weeks free!? - "Sure thing" 6 week challenge? - "No Problem" These all might seem enticing, but hopefully you too can understand why this approach doesn't have your best interests at heart If you'd like to learn more about our Advancement Program don't hesitate to reach out: [email protected] #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #EmpoweringYou #AdvancementProgram See more

13.01.2022 On Monday night I watched a sit down interview with Melinda Gates and David Letterman The things that this lady has achieved and stand for are nothing short of incredible... Sure she and her husband have the means to make a real impact but so do many other billionaires The founder of the largest private foundation said that the majority of the work we do in the developing world is around health She went on to say, health comes first, because without health education is irrelevant, and one cannot go on to fulfil their lives to their full potential, without first addressing health. Again I heard a similar message when listening to a podcast with Amit Lodha Portfolio Manager for the Fidelity Global Equities Fund who emphasised the phrase Health is Wealth If COVID has taught us anything it’s that Health is Wealth This year we’ve seen the entire world shut down, business’s forced to close their doors, redundancies, unemployment levels rise, liquidations, relationships stresses, mental health and suicide levels spike, not to mention the illness itself and over 1 million deaths! Somehow after what we’ve all experienced through COVID makes words like I don’t have time for the gym The gym is too expensive I can’t xyz Kind of loose their punch don’t you think ? Don’t have the time ? Did you just get laid off from your job? Were all those overtime hours you've done over the years for that business really worth it? Too expensive? Melbourne businesses have now been closed for over 200 days! I can’t xyz You can, it’s a matter of choices and priorities. Too often health is NOT the first aspect to address like Mrs Gates suggests and this is why we pay the price later. Now I know COVID outbreak was out of our individual control, however it does serve as strong example of just how quickly our lives can be disrupted. When health is taken away from us it hits us in a dramatic and violent way Remember, health always comes first, health is wealth in all aspects of our lives Stay Healthy

11.01.2022 I always told myself I'll be the best dad I could ever be. Loving, caring, fit and strong. I've been a parent for the past 3 and a half years now and I still don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong? But what I do know is that I would do anything for my children. ANYTHING. Things have become busier for me. Work, life, family, social etc. all in a positive direction. The only downfall is I have found myself not paying. enough attention to my daughter. It makes me feel guilty... and angry at myself for always being on the phone, at work, in front of a computer... Sometimes I find myself ignoring her trying to get my attention. This is the type of person/parent I hope not to be. But I find myself keeping busy instead of paying attention to her. Not wanting to read her books, play games with her, go outdoors with her. I told myself from the beginning when I held her as a little baby, "I will always read you books" (even though I'm not the book type). It's time for a change. I'm going to live up to the dad I visioned to be. Especially with another one along the way (1.5 weeks!) Crazy times ahead but I will be the dad these kids look up to. Someone fit, strong, healthy, loving, caring and one that always pays attention. I want to be able to lift them and pretend they are aeroplanes, go for walks with them sitting on my shoulders, carry them while they're asleep with a long walk ahead of me. I'm not only writing this to hold myself accountable but I also want to inspire other parents that might be going through what I have. To tell them to put their phone down, close their laptops, get off the couch and just spend more quality time with your children. They're not little for long... time goes by fast. 05.01.2022 UNDERSTANDING MACROS Protein, carbs and fat Eating the right foods for your health and fitness goals is important to put you in the right direction. What is also important and not looked at enough is what you should eat at Breakfast, lunch and dinner. And what I mean by what is protein, carbs and fat. ... Majority of the population in Australia would consume a high carb breakfast and most of the time is refined carbs For example, cereal and toast. Think about this let’s just say you’ve been sleeping for 8 hours, so you haven't eaten What's the best thing you could feed the body when you wake up?? I would say protein and good fats. Which are generally good for you all the time! You might be thinking, yeah but what about carbs giving you energy in the morning?! That’s probably a sugar rush you’re talking about from the fruit loops:). Which will later crash and make you feel crap. So what do you do? You eat more (not so good) carbs to chase the energy you’re looking for. But when should you eat carbs? Generally after lunch we get that afternoon slump. Which is where I suggest you should consume some carbs. But good carbs like your fruits, vegetables, grains etc. To give you that afternoon energy kick. So what should you have for dinner? Well, after dinner we go to bed and as we sleep we recover. Protein should be your number 1 source we also suggest to have good fats like your omega 3 and 6. Protein is for your recovery and the fats are good for your insides and outsides. Help prevent certain diseases, promote hair health, healthy skin and more. So without getting too deep into macronutrients we hope this gives you a better understanding of what roles it plays for our body and what could be good for your daily intake. If you need help with your nutrition. Feel free to send us a message.

04.01.2022 If you've had some sort of coaching in the past you've most likely been told one of these two cues when squatting I explain why to me these cues DON'T work and can also potentially decrease your performance in the gym Why are these cues given then?... 03.01.2022 Tickle tickle tickle . Training with like minded people makes it so much more fun and motivating to come back for more! . Do you train with other's or do you prefer training on your own?

02.01.2022 Body awareness is something we continually learn - Often our minds and habits start to trick us - Even the simplest of tasks like looking straight ahead and getting your feet straight can be easy to get wrong... - (it's not until you look down at your feet that you realise if you were on the money or not) - This is another reason why having a coach watching you train is so valuable - They are your extra set of eyes when you can't feel or see things as you exercise - Over time their constant corrections become your new norm and you improve - After all that's what we are all after #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #EmpoweringYou

01.01.2022 I used to think 'Group Training' (having never experienced it before btw) that it was somehow a little soft Guys/girls that wanted to lift real weight went to the "Gym" they didn't do "group training" I used to think that if I did this style of training I'd get weaker and lose weight from all the Cardio & compound movements involved ... From day one, once I finally embraced the change from your typical "gym" I realised how wrong I was I realised how bound up my body was How inspired I became by watching others around me move so well How much more I could do when others around me supported and encouraged me - every day! I became stronger, fitter, more mobile and had a whole lot more fun doing it! All the fears and misconceptions I had gone Why am I telling you this? Because often we hear things or have beliefs about something that hold us back from taking action We encourage you to actually experience things for yourself before you decide if it's for you or not Often our fears are only real in our minds not in the reality of the experience Be bold and step out of your comfort zone #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #Hornsby #results #EmpoweringYou #Bench

01.01.2022 Dieting and nutrition is confusing and hard Sometimes despite our best efforts we can't seem to get anyware fast One aspect where a few of us fall down is underestimating the importance of calories... Many of us under eat, or do not hit the macros suggested for optimal performance Others overshoot their calories The net outcome is sub optional results whatever the goal We need to understand that eating "clean" does not necessarily result in fewer calories There is a difference between eating for health and weight loss in fact there has been studies showing weight loss from confectionery alone! Not what we reccomend at all, but important for us to all realise the importance of calories/macro selection Hope this helps to clear up where you potentially have gone wrong in the past Never give up! #HybridTraining #Community #Fitness #Mindset #NoLimits #results #support #friends #FuelHappiness #weightloss #sleep #happy #commit #hiphinge #calories See more
