21.01.2022 What is the difference between chronic inflammation and acute inflammation? Acute inflammation - starts rapidly (rapid onset) and quickly becomes severe. Signs and symptoms are only present for a few days, but in some cases may persist for a few weeks. Examples of diseases, conditions, and situations which can result in acute inflammation include: Acute bronchitis Infected ingrown toenail... Sore throat from a cold or flu A scratch/cut on the skin Exercise (especially intense training) Acute appendicitis Acute dermatitis Acute tonsillitis Acute infective meningitis Acute sinusitis A blow. Chronic inflammation - this means long-term inflammation, which can last for several months and even years. It can result from: Failure to eliminate whatever was causing an acute inflammation An autoimmune response to a self antigen - the immune system attacks healthy tissue, mistaking it (them) for harmful pathogens A chronic irritant of low intensity that persists. Examples of diseases and conditions with chronic inflammation include: Asthma Chronic peptic ulcer Tuberculosis Rheumatoid arthritis Chronic periodontitis Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease Chronic sinusitis Chronic active hepatitis (there are many more). Our infections, wounds and any damage to tissue would never heal without inflammation - tissue would become more and more damaged and the body, or any organism, would eventually perish. However, chronic inflammation can eventually cause several diseases and conditions, including some cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, periodontitis, and hay fever. 13.01.2022 I am treating a 53 year old man who has 3 degenerative discs in his lower back. He had been in constant pain for 7 years and had been taking very strong pain killers every 4 hours, everyday and still had pain. He has been told the only way to stop the pain is too have fusion, which he is not willing to put himself through that risky procedure. He has been on hydrogen therapy for 3 weeks now and only takes a mild pain killer in the morning, as he says "just incase" as he is st...anding and bending all day at work. He is on the hydrogen water everyday and has had 6 treatments from myself. He has no pain in his lower back, and only has an ache if he has overdone it at work. 01.01.2022 Antioxidants and Cancer According to the National Cancer Institute considerable laboratory, evidence from chemical, cell culture, and animal studies indicates that antioxidants may slow or possibly prevent the development of cancer. Antioxidants are nutrients (vitamins and minerals) as well as enzymes (proteins in your body that assist in chemical reactions). They are believed to play a role in preventing the development of such chronic diseases as cancer, heart disease, stro...ke, Alzheimer’s disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, and cataracts. Acute oxidative stress induced by ischemia-reperfusion or inflammation causes serious damage to tissues, and persistent oxidative stress is accepted as one of the causes of many common diseases including cancer. H2 selectively reduces the hydroxyl radical, the most cytotoxic of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and effectively protected cells; however, H2 does not react with other ROS, which possess physiological roles. The inhalation of H2 gas markedly suppressed brain injury by buffering the effects of oxidative stress. Thus, H2 can be used as an effective antioxidant therapy; owing to its ability to rapidly diffuse across membranes, it can reach and react with cytotoxic ROS and thus protect against oxidative damage.[2] ROS are involved in metastatic processes including invasion of cancer cells into surrounding primary tumor sites. Generated ROS regulates tumor progression, indicating that ROS is situated upstream in many signaling pathways including the pathway involved in metastasis. At tumor sites, large amount of ROS are produced by activated neutrophils and macrophages in the inflammatory response. Hydrogen water erases ROS indispensable for tumor cell growth. Molecular Hydrogen is an ideal antioxidant molecule for oxidative stress in the mitochondria due to its small size. It is one of the very few, if not only antioxidant molecules that can reach the inside of the mitochondria. H2 directly protects mitochondria that are exposed to reactive oxygen species. Preliminary clinical trials show that drinking hydrogen-dissolved water seems to improve the pathology of mitochondrial disorders. Drinking H2-water stimulates energy metabolism as measured by O2 consumption and CO2 production.
