14.01.2022 Here is the response the HSA has received on behalf of the Minister of Health about the shunt registry Obviously we are pretty disappointed about it as the cost of hydrocephalus on the health system is a lot more than the $2.4m they have spent since 2006 and there have been no MRFF grants available that would fund the registry. Join the campaign to get the shunt registry funded hydrocephalus.org.au/shuntregistry
14.01.2022 Hi All, Brisbane has its support group meeting this coming Saturday 11th May. We have a guest speaker coming who was the CNC at the former Royal Childrens Hospital in Brisbane (RBCH). I have posted on the event asking for people to send through possible questions they may have for our guest speaker. As Sister Saville has a vast array of experience and knowledge in helping Parents and children get through hospital visits and surgeries, if you have any questions you would like us to ask, please feel free to PM me directly or email me [email protected] by no later than Thursday night please. We will endeavour to ask any and all questions that get sent and I will endeavour to post any answers hopefully by Sunday night. Please note this post is from Erin Millar.

10.01.2022 Save The Shunt Registry The Australian Shunt Registry, that took 10 years to establish, is in danger of closing down due to a lack of funding, brought on by the Covid-19 situation. The Shunt Registry, unbelievably, receives no Government funding at all. Please read this ABC article to understand why our current appeal for Funds to save The Registry from closing, is so vitally important. Once read, please SHARE throughout your friends and other networks, so that we can reach o...ur target of $90,000 to fund the registry for a further 12 months. The Shunt Registry helps keep Rebecca and many more people Alive, and as Rebecca says, "That's pretty handy". Donate to save the shunt registry https://www.facebook.com/donate/262365551578478/

06.01.2022 Hi Everyone, we were on ABC radio nationals Australia Wide program listen to it here https://www.abc.net.au//australia-/australia-wide/12269552 its from 20:47 on.
01.01.2022 FUNDRAISING IDEA. As a supporter of Hydrocephalus Support Assn I recently setup a "Birthday Fundraiser" on Facebook, with all proceeds going to HSA. Within two weeks I had received over $2000 worth of donations from my friends and family. It was very easy to setup and there was no cost to myself or HSA, with Facebook generously covering any fees. I received donations from local and overseas friends and in some cases from friends I had not seen in over twenty years, such is th...e reach of FB. This prompted me to realise that if more of our hundreds of supporters on Facebook, set up their own "Birthday Fundraisers" with HSA as their nominated charity, we could raise tens of thousands of dollars over a year, at absolutely no cost. With Covid restricting most forms of event fundraising this would give us an opportunity to raise much needed funds, with very little effort. The beauty of fundraising in this manner is that each supporter is appealing to completely different groups of friends, thus avoiding appealing to the same people all the time. An added bonus is that it raises awareness of Hydrocephalus to a much larger audience. I would love to hear your comments on this and would be happy to assist anyone in setting up their own fundraising page for HSA. Sean Cooney (Volunteer Committee Member for HSA). See more
