22.01.2022 An update from Sensei Mark: Karate is a study into biomechanics and kinetics Shotokan is a style of karate which is based on Buki (weaponry) and Jiujitsu (grabs and holds defence)... Hyouzan Karate Do is a Shotokan karate school which also utilises other martial arts such as tai chi, hsingi, bagua, aikido, and tae kwon do. Taking different elements from each, incorporating them into a universal and wholistic approach. Students are taught in a manner of natural progression based on their individual circumstance. Various aspects that are taught include kihon (basics) kata (forms) kumite (sparring) and jui jitsu Focus of the training is centred around body development. Hyouzan Karate Do aims to promote self discipline rather than discipline itself in having an awareness of one's self.
