25.01.2022 Affirmations Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes. You might consider affirmations to be unrealistic "wishful thinking." But try looking at positive affirmations this way: many of us do repetitive exercises to improve our physical health, and affirmations are like exercises for our mind and outlook.

25.01.2022 VERNIX CASEOSA Vernix is a thick creamy waxy substance that covers the body of the newborn. It’s seen more in babies born a couple of weeks prior to the ‘due date’ as it reduces towards the end of pregnancy. It is made up of water, fats and proteins. The vernix protects and nourishes the baby’s soft skin, has antimicrobial properties and acts as a barrier whilst in the womb. Can you imagine how your skin would look after 9 months in the bath!?... Vernix is thought to help with an easier transition through the birth canal and aid temperature regulation after birth. It also helps during the adaptation following birth and hence not recommended to bath baby to soon. Think of vernix as a moisturiser and rub it in rather than wipe it off! It is recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to wait at least 24 hours before bathing a newborn (maybe even 2 to 3 days) as it has many benefits including reduced risk of infection, better temperature regulation, more skin to skin time leading to better breastfeeding outcomes and blood sugar regulation. If your baby has a little dried blood in their hair and it bothers you, you can always wipe the hair gently with a warm wet cloth. @thenaturalparentingpagazine

23.01.2022 Naturally, throughout time and the world over, women have chosen to walk, stand, squat, lie to move their bodies freely and actively to find the most comfortable positions for labour and birth. It is only we in the west who have the extraordinary notion that a woman should lie on her back in a position that defies the laws of nature and gravity. Janet Balaskas Active Birth. 22.01.2022 Words are very powerful... If women are included in the decision making and fully informed about their choices they are far more likely to have a positive birth experience.....

21.01.2022 Now this pure JOY!! However, the introduction of a new baby (or two!) to older siblings can be something many families spend time considering... what might be the best approach. More important than anything is to give siblings time to respond in their own way. Be near them to encourage and support. Talk to them and listen to what they have to say. Most importantly - don’t rush them. 16.01.2022 Today I want to talk to you about PREPARATION. You want to start getting ready for birth rather than just see what happens on the day. Think about the last time you had something important coming up in your life. Can you remember how many hours you spent preparing for it? How many times a day did you mentally prepare for it in the build up? Let’s take a wedding for example. You plough through magazines, Pinterest boards, internet searches, blogs, Instagram, wedding profiles... in search for the venue that dreams were made of. You will do the same for your dress, flowers, invitations, the food, decorationsI could go on but you get the picture. How many hours does it take to prepare for a wedding day? I’m going to take a guess that it’s likely to be weeks or even months as the hours tally up. Now, let’s take pregnancy. You have had 2 lines appear on your pregnancy test, had your two (or more) scans and you have surfed the Mothercare website for iCandy’s, Bugaboo’s, Sleppyheads and baby carriers. Maybe you have thought about what colours to put on the nursery walls or what furniture you might need. You are most likely putting your hours in for this kind of prep. Preparing items for the days ahead for what you may or may not need for your little one. But birth?... Have you thought about what you will need for the day? What choices you have to make? What can you control to make the process go more smoothly? What can you do to reduce the fear you may have of birth? How it will affect you after, both emotionally and physically? What can you do to PREPARE and mould the whole birth experience into a positive one? Because I can tell you this one thing for sure In 10 years’ time when you are looking at your child on their 10th birthday. You won’t be reminiscing about the pusher that you chose or if you went for Manor House Grey or Pavilion Grey in the nursery. You will be tracing your steps from your first contractions, that drive into hospital to that moment your baby looked up at you and let out their first cry. Now THAT stays with you for life. 16.01.2022 This picture is difficult to read. It was a retrospective study of HypnoBirthing childbirth education compared to routine hospital childbirth education at Sandringham Hospital in Melbourne. The conclusion of the study was the HypnoBirthing group had reduced analgesia use and higher likelihood of a vaginal birth and less incidence of elective caesarean sections. If you are planning your upcoming birth and keen for it to be an amazing and empowering experience HypnoBirthing may be the birth education you are looking for. Free info session via Zoom Wednesday 20th May 6.30pm. DM me for more information or to book.

15.01.2022 #Repost @gatherwomenspace As doulas we can tell you how rare it is to see an obstetrician anywhere near water. That is the domain of midwives, who are overwhelmingly alarmed and outraged at the latest recommendations by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists - Australia's peak body for OBGYNs - to ban water immersion for ALL labouring women in COVID-19 hotspots in Australia. How @ranzcog - an organisation that is appa...rently an "advocate for women's health" - can release such damaging advice without evidence is mind boggling. @midwives_acm have publicly pushed back on the recommendations citing facts and calling out RANZCOG's recommendation as "nonsensical". Denying women the relief and comfort that comes with water in labour and stripping us of even more birth rights and choices during an already heightened state of stress and anxiety will have ripple effects for generations to come. Water is THE BEST non-pharmacological pain relief option we have and we will not be silenced on this. If you share our outrage: Leave a comment on the @ranzcog account sharing your thoughts and calling on them to provide evidence behind their decision. Sign the @changedotorg petition at the link in our bio. The good news is we haven't yet heard of any hospital in Melbourne implementing the advice and have all our it will stay that way. See more

12.01.2022 Control.....this is something that we have to really surrender to sometimes....

12.01.2022 When the upper body is tight and tense this affects the diaphragm muscle and inhibits deep breathing. This tension also refers downwards to the lower body including the pelvis, which is the very part of the body that you want lose, flexible and open during labour. This will remind you to let go of any tension in the jaw, releasing and relaxing the re...st of the body and allowing your breathing to be long and deep. Remember You are safe, loved and supported. 12.01.2022 Hi Everyone I'm Stacey a mother of 5 as well as a passionate Doula & HypnoBirthing Educator. I'm 35 yrs old and truly passionate in Supporting pregnant women holistically during their pregnancy, birthing & postpartum Journeys. This truly birthed for me after my last Birthing Dance in Jan 2019 Reflecting on all the emotional rollercoasters I was during pregnancy & still folding when it came to being pressured into inductions I felt that I needed to take a stance and be ava...ilable to Mummas out there especially the ones who feel like they don't have a choice or access to alternative support. Things would have been so different for me if I had that person by my side. My business Transitional Birthing MBB was officially open in January 2020 I'm starting an Instagram account and I do have a FB page @transitionalbirthingmindbodyandbaby (please let me know if you have trouble finding it) IT is not my speciality working with like-minded people is LoL .. I adore HypnoBirthing and all we teach, I'm passionate about the breathing, relaxation techniques, fear releasing & all the insightful knowledge it offers As a doula my sole focus is on Mum because I believe that supporting & nurturing mum clears a path for it to flow into baby therefore Mum is able to focus more on baby & herself rather than all the extra things we tend to pile on ourselves.. it's my Mission to ensure that my Mamas are left feeling Supported, empowered, nurtured, Safe, and heard. By nurturing mothers I honestly believe we can change future generations positively. I feel honoured to be Joining forces with Louise & Kerena to Come United in Making a difference for Pregnant Women of Bass Coast & South Gippsland.. Thank You Much love & Many Blessings Stacey @TransitionalBirthing

12.01.2022 This is SO important when planning your birth if you wish to have a physiological undisturbed birth. DO you feel supported by your care provider? In Australia, we have to estimate the rate for normal physiological birthwhere the birth starts, continues and is completed by the undisturbed finely tuned hormonal physiology shared by the mother and baby. The best estimate for normal physiological birth is only 1 to 5% of all births!!!

12.01.2022 Love hearing, reading and sharing positive birth stories

11.01.2022 Expectant Parents? Understanding and Preparation have never been more important than they are today. Pregnancy and Birth is first and foremost a NATURAL (not a medical) process for healthy people

11.01.2022 In HypnoBirthing we work with couples to assist them to realise that they already have all they need to birth their babies. They gain a toolbox of techniques to use during labour to enhance their mind/body connection and to trust themselves and step aside so their instincts lead them. We are not teaching them how to birth, as their body already knows how to do this. We teach all about what they already have on board for ease and comfort, all the incredible gifts they have for physiological birth and what to do when birth takes an unexpected turn. Biggest take away message you have what it takes!!! Next Group Session begins Wednesday July 15th. To find out more check out website https://buff.ly/2SWqELl or DM.

10.01.2022 A quote that resonates with me from the amazing birth advocate Ina May Gaskin. Birth Matters. It matters because it is the way we all begin our lives outside of our source, our mother’s bodies. It’s the means from which we enter and feel our first impression of the wider world. For each mother, it is an event that shakes and shapes her to her innermost core. Women’s perceptions about their bodies and their baby’s capabilities will be deeply influenced by the care they recei...ve around the time of birth. 08.01.2022 The Law of psycho-physical attraction. For every thought there is a corresponding physical and chemical response and change within the body. ... The body follows the mind, if the mind is dwelling on fearful negative images of birth, the body is thrown unintentionally into a defence mode. 08.01.2022 Such a powerful image thanks to @with_leanna She writes: He knows. He knows what to do, because they have been preparing together for this moment. He knows... where to touch, what to say, where to hold. He understands her body and what their baby is doing each moment of this divine process. He does not fear The Dad or birth companion are there to support the mother, guide her through labour with his voice and his touch, will have knowledge and tools on how to stay calm and how to make her comfortable. HypnoBirthing classes teach exactly this. Head to our website to find an educator near you.

06.01.2022 "At least you have a healthy baby!" "At least you're alive!" REALLY!?! Are we not yet done with accepting the brutality, mistreatment and degradation of... women in the name of having a healthy baby? Did you know a mum can feel over the moon, blessed and grateful for their beautiful, healthy baby, and simultaneously tormented, depressed, disappointed or TRAUMATISED by her birth experience? Not dead is not good enough. A healthy baby at the cost of a healthy mum is not acceptable. Women are the ones expected to nurture and care for their babies. STOP DAMAGING THEM DURING BIRTH AND THEN EXPECTING THEM TO MOTHER THEIR BABIES AS IF NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED!! Please, for the love of mothers and babies, change the system that results in one third of women leaving their births with trauma. Women, please know that you don't have to accept this treatment! Call it out. Don't put up with it. Report mistreatment and negligence when it happens. It is not ok! If you need help, please reach out! 06.01.2022 PROBIOTICS IN PREGNANCY "Probiotics in pregnancy have been shown to have a range of benefits for both the mother and the baby. Various forms of bacteria have b...een shown to improve iron absorption in the mother by as much as 50%; reduce the risk of preeclampsia by up to 39% and premature birth by 27%; and reduce the risk of allergies, eczema, asthma, and other immune response-related diseases in the baby. Continuing the use of probiotics after pregnancy and during breastfeeding is beneficial. Not only will it ensure that beneficial strains of bacteria are being passed onto the baby through the breast milk, but certain strains of probiotics have been found to aid in weight loss and prevent mastitis. Probiotic use in women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive is to be encouraged, as it is a safe way to provide the body with beneficial organisms in order to lower disease risk factors." 05.01.2022 Breathing techniques are part of the HypnoBirthing principles to facilitate a calm birth, whatever turn your labour takes. Next Group Sessions begin Wednesday 15th July 12th August (5 sessions) 6.30-9pm. Space for 2 more couples (Covid resrictions) or via ZOOM

05.01.2022 This is beyond words....the powerful force of the medical machine has to stop.

04.01.2022 HypnoBirthing Some women think they cannot use HypnoBirthing as their pregnancy is high risk This is not the case. Your induction can be calm if there is a true medical need to be induced. There are many things you can do to make the process smoother and calmer.... Your caesarean can also be calm. You can have calm music and use breathing techniques whilst you are having the spinal anaesthetic put in. You can make your environment one that will increase the release of oxytocin and help you bond with your baby more. You can still use relaxations and affirmations to make you feel good about your pregnancy and your birth. Most of all you still have choice even when your pregnancy is being closely monitored. Knowledge is power. Knowledge enables you to make informed choices. When things have deviated from the birth plan you imagined there are great advantages to using HypnoBirthing. All women deserve a positive birth experience.

04.01.2022 Want to be prepared for birth? Do you want to Rock your Birth? A pregnancy tip on how to make choices during your pregnancy and birth..... For every contact you have with your health care provider there SHOULD be advice and then choose.. These questions may help you with YOUR choices B- BENEFITS What are the benefits to the choice? R- RISKS What are the risks? A -ALTERNATIVES What are the alternatives if any? N -NOTHING What would happen if we did nothing? This can help with lots of decision making that you may have to do. Having an empowered birth means feeling equipped with tools that make you feel strong and supported no matter where you are. It means having the understanding of what a ‘normal’ birth can look like so you feel safe as things progress in various directions. It also means knowing (and your support person knowing) what you want your birth to be and feel like, and what you DON’T want your birth to be and feel like, so that the people around you can do their best to support your plan, whether those people are family members or Midwives. In the current climate where you are now only allowed to bring in 1 support person to a hospital birth these things are even more essential and you deserve to have an empowered birth. Upcoming HypnoBirthing Sessions due to start in December. Wednesday 2nd, 9th & 16th December and 6th & 13th January. (5 sessions) 6.30-9pm

04.01.2022 Repost thanks to @joyfulbirths Raspberry Leaf Tea for pregnancy, postpartum and menstruation. Currently transitioning back... to a menstrual cycle, I am reminded how much change occurs within the body during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This new cycle is not the same as those I am used to, there are differences I am noticing at every stage as I tune into my body. To help me adjust and support my body I find myself wanting to reach for methods used by the generations before me rather than the medicine cabinet. I want to support my body, not create tension or put masks over it. During pregnancy, usually from around 34-36 weeks, Raspberry Leaf Tea can help both tone and relax the muscles of the uterus and pelvic floor. This means that come your birthing day your amazing uterus will be primed to work at its best! This could mean a shorter and more easy birth for you. These benefits also aid in postpartum recovery by helping the uterus retract to its original size after birth. Have your tried raspberry leaf tea for menstruation or during the final stages of pregnancy? Did you experience the natural benefits? #raspberryleaftea #raspberryleaf #uterinesupport #uterinehealth #menstrualsupport #womensbusiness #pregnancysupport #thisispostpartum #birthprep #birthpreparation #naturalmedicine See more

04.01.2022 So true Australian women deserve better. The choice of Midwifery led continuity of care. #Repost @rheadempseybirth... 'We need to promote the gold standard model of midwifery care: continuity of care, in which a birthing woman is attended one-on-one, continuously through her labour by a midwife with whom she has developed a relationship during pregnancy. It’s what women want, but at present in Australia only 8% of pregnant women can access this model.' 01.01.2022 Hospital policy is a guideline only. Not always based on up to date evidence. It takes 7 years to change a hospital policy apparently.
