25.01.2022 REWIRE TO REFIRE YOUR BRAIN! On the weekend I listened to a well known Neuroscientist, Dr Sarah McKay talk about the brain at an Australian Hypnotherapy Association Workshop. Sarah mentioned how top athletes sometimes rehearse an upcoming race over and over in their mind as preparation for an event. Sarah discussed the application of this principle to anxiety and how we could choose not to think about the negative scenarios of an upcoming event but rather to imagine successfu...l and positive scenarios of a future event and practise re-playing these positive scenarios in our mind over and over again. For the same future event it is also important to imagine the positive feelings that are associated with undertaking this task/event and to again practise imagining these feelings throughout the positive scenario. Finally it is essential to imagine the feeling over and over again associated with completing this positive task.
