20.01.2022 Latest track closures update - Tuesday 22 January 2019, 5pm Access to some national parks and reserve areas are being managed for public safety by PWS due to th...e current fire situation. With the large amount of fires burning and the potential for spotting and new starts due to the weather forecasted, PWS is asking people NOT to venture into remote areas from now until the end of the long weekend (Tuesday 29 January 2019). Given the high fire conditions across the state today, a number of additional reserves and walking tracks in Tasmanias national parks have been closed. It is highly likely that further closures will be announced as the situation unfolds. 11.01.2022 Parks, reserves, track closures and campfire restrictions Friday 4 January 2019 The following areas will be closed tomorrow, Friday 4 January 2019 due to extr...eme fire weather conditions forecast for the affected areas. The current campfire restrictions are extended statewide for Friday to minimise the number of new fires as a result of campfire escapes. Please note there is a total fire ban in place for the southern and northern Tasmania Fire Service regions excluding Flinders Island from midnight Thursday 3 to midnight Friday 4 January. Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) takes these actions to protect public safety, reduce the risk of new fires starting as well as managing resources to allow for management of existing fires and any new fires that may start on a day with that type of weather forecast. 09.01.2022 The conditions forecast for Friday and Saturday are equal to the worst we have seen this bushfire season. Any fires that start under these conditions will be fa...st-moving, dangerous and difficult to control. There is a total fire ban in place for municipalities in the southern region on Friday and Saturday. There are six uncontrolled bushfires and 22 bushfires contained and being patrolled in the state at the moment. With high temperatures and dry, gusty conditions bringing the fire danger rating up to severe in parts of the south and east, it is likely some existing fires will break containment lines and threaten communities that are already fatigued by the bushfires. People need to be aware that fire operations are still underway around the state. Locals and people traveling or attending events near fire areas should keep watch for operational vehicles working on the fires. We need people to be aware of the bushfires around them, understand their risk and respond accordingly. Review your bushfire survival plan now; If you dont have a bushfire survival plan, decide now what you and your family will do if a fire breaks out in your area; Report new fires immediately to TFS by calling Triple Zero; Listen to ABC Local Radio and visit fire.tas.gov.au for the latest bushfire information and advice.

We at I Sea Scoops want to do what we can to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep the elderly, children and vulnerable members of our community safe and well. After considered thought we have decided to implement the following: 1. We will be serving ice cream by placing the cone in the holder avoiding possible contact wi...th our customers. Please dont be offended by this procedure. This small change to service will be for each and everyones protection in the current health advice and warnings in order to combat COVID-19.; 2. Card only transactions if possible. In the current climate is the preferred option of payment please; 3. All ice creams will be served with napkin and placed in holder. We ask that you take your ice cream from holder, and that you dispose of your own waste in the bins provided; 4. We kindly ask you to follow the protocols mentioned by relevant authorities (keeping safe distance, no physical contact and avoid crowding the premisses) and embrace the changes made by us to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. 08.01.2022 Well as they say that’s a wrap!!!!! Leon Yates and Alison Collier our I Sea Scoops journey has completed. I can not say enough what an amazing journey and opportunity it has been for us both. We want to acknowledge and thank all and everyone who have supported us along the way. It has been such a wonderful way for us to become part of the great Bicheno community and to get to know so many folk. Locals, shackers, interstate and oversea’s visitors, we have ...been blessed! We are particularly grateful to all the school kids and parents that came to us for the lovely Friday after school ritual So amazing to watch so many little people grow and develop. We will miss seeing you so regularly! We are and will be forever grateful for the amazing time our 5+ years of conceiving, creating and operating I Sea Scoops has been. We have loved every minute (mostly ) and now it’s time for us to pursue new and different opportunities. Leon continues his work with the wind farm and eagle monitoring and his increasing passion and connection to our wonderful natural environment and creatures from great to small has been a joy to observe all be it sometimes worryingly so, particularly with the !!! My role with PHT coordinating the Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care project finished end of October and I know my work will continue in community in this arena and how that plays out is still to be seen. I have jumped into another passion of mine food and cooking! (and a little bit of wine! ) and am now front of house on Fridays and Saturdays at ALM restaurant at Milton with chef Zac and am so excited and invigorated to be around good food, produce wine and in a beautiful environment. The learning curve was a bit steep having never done this role before and must say a month in I love it and 2 days is good! So it is with joy in our hearts and a few tears that we say goodbye and thank you sincerely from our beautiful little beach hut coffee and ice cream shop I SEA SCOOPS. See more

04.01.2022 PWS Campfire restrictions extended statewide. PWS is extending the current campfire restrictions statewide until further notice. This means campfires, pot stove...s and other solid fuel stoves cannot be used in any national park or reserve area across the state. The decision to extend the campfire restrictions across the state is due to elevated soil dryness and the risk of new fire starts at a time when there is significant number of fires already burning. Our priority is community and visitor safety. In the current dry conditions, campfires can easily escape, spread rapidly, are difficult to control and threaten people in campgrounds and nearby communities. Restrictions have also been imposed on the use of pot fires as sparks, embers and disposal of ash from pot fires can also provide an ignition source. Gas stoves and gas barbecues will be permitted. These restrictions are important to help protect visitors and the community and to help reduce the risk of bushfires. The Tasmania Fire Service has also declared tomorrow (Tuesday 22 January 2019) a Day of Total Fire Ban for the North and South. This means no fires may be lit or allowed to remain alight in the open air from Tuesday, 22 January 2019 02:00am until Wednesday, 23 January 2019 02:00am - for more information visit www.fire.tas.gov.au.
