18.01.2022 Update on takeaway cocktails: Licensees choosing to make and sell cocktails as packaged liquor need to make sure they are complying with their RSA obligations t...o limit the potential of alcohol-related harm occurring in Queensland communities. Responsible practices and promotions for takeaway sales: Liquor is to be supplied in standardised quantities that can be recognised by patrons to assist in monitoring the level of consumption. At a minimum this would include clearly showing the number of standard drinks contained within the product being sold. Non-alcoholic beverages should be available for purchase. Liquor is to be provided in a way that encourages responsible consumption. For example cocktail packaging should not exceed two standard drinks. Alcoholic drinks should be sold in containers that are suitable to be transported to an appropriate location for off-premises consumption. Containers that may encourage consumption in public places adjacent to the premises (e.g. a soft plastic cup with push on lid) should not be used. Packaging considerations above are in addition to any applicable food safety requirements. OLGR doesnt regulate the Food Standards Code, this is enforced by Queensland Health and local government. Its important licensees contact these agencies if theyre not aware of their obligations. View the Food Standards Code here: https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/code/Pages/default.aspx View the full list of how you can trade by licence type here: https://www.business.qld.gov.au//liquor/coronavirus-advice Licensees that are only permitted to sell distilled spirits as part of ready-to-drink beverages (e.g. restaurants and cafs) may only sell cocktails if they are packaged as a ready-to-drink product.
