22.01.2022 When I left my ex, one of my mother's friends said to me, 'Why wouldn't you stay and try to make it work for your kids?' Unfortunately, that was their generation - you get married and it doesn't matter how $h!tty you get treated, you stay and 'make it work' (like there's even a way to MAKE that crap work!) 'for your kids.' Back then - in my parents generation - mother's didn't usually work, they were stay-at-home-mum's, they were housewives and didn't have access to financia...l support to be able to leave. THANKFULLY - times have changed in terms of women being financially independent - but the views of our parents are fairly well solid. Now, here is the BIG ISSUE with what our parents went through: we now have an entire generation of children who've grown into adults with SERIOUS mental health issues, mostly stemmed from our parents being stuck in toxic relationships. I mean, I don't mean to point to finger at our parents, but thanks to that generation, we have a whole lotta crap to deal with. AND - what's most unsettling - is the children of that generation, grew up to go into relationships EXACTLY like the ones our parents had, because that was our understanding of what a 'normal and functional' relationship looked like. WHOA! that was a lot to get out and a lot to swallow... Take a moment and catch your breathe... that was intense! I call this the 'generational cycle' - where we repeat the things that we learned from our parents. It's not our fault, we are pretty smart beings, but we aren't THAT smart that we can have conscious awareness of something that we can't even see. Let me give you a really simple example of our 'monkey-see-monkey-do' minds. Look around your house... do you set your pantry the same way your mother did? Do you fold your washing the same way your mother did? Now go deeper and look at your relationships... are they like the ones you parents had (not just romantic - friendships also)??? #MindBlown right? 14.01.2022 I used to get upset that I 'didn't have many friend's' and that 'people just don't understand me.' Then it hit me - I was trying to associate with people who didn't see the world the way I did. I was getting upset at the people who don't want to achieve the world-wide impact that I want to. I realised that my wanting to play a big game, on a world-wide scale is very intimidating to people who don't want to play at that level. My point with this is - not everyone will like y...ou, when you have different goals and different visions for you life, the people who don't align with that; won't support you in life or in friendship. My other point (and some of this is me reminding myself): Don't shrink to fit the mould and ideals of other people who don't share your big dreams. They will try to project their own fears onto you and will be the anchor that holds you back from achieving your full potential. 04.01.2022 He was so sick... Today marks 7 years since I got to take Lukas home from hospital, 18 days after he was born and 11 days after life saving, emergency surgery. It was the scariest, toughest and most inspiring time in my life. I watched the little human that I had given birth to fail to feed, fail to poop and then start to shut down. I watched a one week old baby FIGHT to stay alive, FIGHT to be here and I learned what true strength and resilience REALLY looked and felt like. ... And he hasn’t changed. He is still tough as anything, determined to succeed and will not quit (at anything!) Lukas taught me how to be strong, he showed me how to win, and he changed my life in the most amazing way... that which I am eternally grateful for. 01.01.2022 I was too scared to step up and step into the person I really am. I was scared of the judgement, I was scared of the backlash from my family, I was scared of peeling off the layers and being truly, authentically me. This is me:... I help people overcome trauma and find peace and happiness in their lives. I am highly competitive. I am highly driven and motivated. I hate small talk - I don't see the point and it bores me. I think I'm funny as all hell.... and have a twisted sense of humour.... ok it's dirty, my mind gravitates STRAIGHT to the gutter. I am happy to make an idiot of myself. I love myself to pieces. I love my husband and am super proud of the life and relationship we have. I have the best kid's ever, in the world (very biased, but what parent isn't). I have strength beyond what most people perceive possible. I am hugely passionate about the people and topics that are important to me. When I believe in something - I back it with full force. I am deeply intuitive and spiritual. I HATED going to church as a kid and had catholicism rammed down my throat. The kids at school never really liked me, or the teachers for that fact - until it came to sport - then they all wanted to be on my team. I dated way too many guys and thought sex was a tool to get them to like me. I had no idea what a functional relationship looked liked and had many, many, many lesson's in what not to do. I tried drugs, just a few times... until I had a bad one and tripped for hours and scared the shit out of myself. The list goes on and on and on... but that is snapshot of who I really am. I don't hide, and I won't hide - I am who I am, and I will never pass judgement, because we all go through this life learning lessons and discovering ourselves along the way. PS: people CAN and DO change... only if they WANT to. (that means you - you can change, if you want to...
