25.01.2022 The face you make when you get the vows right! Its always a point of contention. To write your own vows, or not. Im always for it and heres why. Not matter how personal and you I can make your ceremony, I cant offer the insights and emotions that you can. So many people get too hung up on if their vows are too long, too short, too soppy, not soppy enough. It doesnt bloody matter. Its YOUR time, to use YOUR words, to express YOUR feelings about YOUR l...ove. If your not one to talk much, then dont write much. If you have an appreciation for classic literature, then Shakespeare the out of it. If you have a thousand inside jokes with your partner, it doesnt matter if the crowd gets it or not. Its an opportunity to sit down, have a deep think and put your feelings about this love into your own words. So for all you out there looking to get hitched, I know it can seem daunting, but the reward far outweighs the work and we all benefit on the day. 22.01.2022 Lotti and Mohsen. It was a pleasure! A cool inclusion we added into their ceremony was the traditional Persian Sofreh table. An ancient traditional spread of various items that are symbolic gestures to the couples future. Such as a bowl of honey to signify a sweet life (which the couple give to one another in the ceremony), candles to represent energy and clarity, eggs to represent fertility and life, a needle and thread to represent the two individuals becoming one , ...almonds, walnuts and hazelnuts to, again, represent fertility (calm down with the fertility guys well all end up pregnant!) and a variety of other things that represent the couple and their future. Obviously, as I was the celebrant, it wasnt a completely traditional Persian wedding, but adding this element was a beautiful way to blend the two cultures together. Be Salâmati guys! I don’t know what the norm is, but I love to hangout after the ceremony, share a drink with the couple and help out with organising group and family photos with the photographer It’s one of my favourite parts of the whole process. I get to see the couple and their family and friends relax into party mode and they get to see me in a little less professional and more personal capacity (professional probably isn’t the first word yo...u’d use to describe me to begin with). I’m there to be a drink holder, coat rack, bag hook and to take your sunnies off your damn forehead! 18.01.2022 This day played a major part in my decision to become a celebrant. My own wedding day. I could never see myself partaking in the whole traditional wedding thing but had no idea what else was on offer. Im just extremely lucky I met an amazing and creative partner who lives life outside of the box . Ever since we started talking about marriage, we were always throwing up Vegas. We finally decided to elope while on a holiday in the States and it was everything we could ha...ve asked for. Mainly because we kept it on the DL and did everything exactly the way we wanted and didnt care who we rubbed the wrong way. It was our day, our way. So when my amazing wife suggested I should become a celebrant, the thought that I could help couples achieve similar goals with their day, made me extremely excited . Now, with over 100 weddings under my belt and many more to come, its easy to forget how crazy I thought the idea was in the first place . 10.01.2022 Thanks to the 43 bad ass couples that put their faith in me in 2018. I started the year already working full time in construction, with a nine month old child and a wife who was starting her own business. I set a goal to do 26 weddings, one every second weekend sounded like a good number. 05.01.2022 How could you be nervous with this goofy mug next to you! A big part of my role on the day is to keep everything and everyone feeling relaxed and as comfortable as possible. I try to make a point of chatting with the groom and groomsmen before the arrival of the bride. Just to reassure him that hes not up there, in front of everyone, alone. ... Im consciously engaging and talking to the bride after her arrival, so that it feels like a conversation rather than a ceremony. I try to do all this with a friendly smile on my face that says, were in this thing together. Even if Ive got a few butterflies going on as well, a heartfelt smile seems to keep people from freaking TF out.
