21.01.2022 The Landscape is our teacher: Last month I reminded you of functional connections. Bill Mollison - CoFounder of Permaculture suggests that the number of functional connections between species rather than the number of species is what makes a system more stable. The more functional connections or supporting elements in the system the more stable it will be. This month's principle asks us to stop! Stop and observe. ...Continue reading
17.01.2022 Observe and interact. We spent a few minutes each day observing the behaviours of our beehives. In this video you can see boy bees or drones being evicted from the hive. Why? Because they eat too much and the hive had huge numbers of boys. Too many to feed. ... So out they go. Nature knows how to restore balance. The permaculture principle of observing and interacting encourages us to stop our busy lives and be in and with nature to understand better our connections in the world. Every action has a reaction and nature always has a plan. By us spending the time to observe we can better understand. Love our little life.

09.01.2022 They call it syntropic farming but is it really any different? Is syntropic farming not just one aspect or tool in the toolbox of permaculture?
04.01.2022 For many years we have planned to do more with area. Thanks to Aria Monazeh for the tagaste trees to spur us into action. This area is approx 1200 m2 it is now broken into three with tagaste as support species aka nitrogen fixer. Each row has had a cover crop turned in. One of the few times we use the rotary hoe. And is now seeded to a variety of new cover crops which will form the bases of more humus before planting a commercial crop of finger limes and related guild species. This time next year these beds should be pumping. In between the beds will go this years crop of garlic before being rested with more cover crops.
