25.01.2022 With the recent outbreaks in the area we are asking that anyone coming in to the practice for an eye test to please wear a mask. We are working strictly by appointment only at this time and ask that you please not enter the practice without an appointment. The front door may be locked, if so please wait patiently for one of our staff to let you in for your appointment, we may just have someone at risk inside. We are continuing to disinfect after each patient and keeping the practice clean to keep us and you safe. Let's work together to get through this time.

This customer will be picking up her awesome new Valley Eyewear sunnies with her new Rodenstock impression freesign3 progressive lenses just in time for her holiday. They may look like a normal pair of sunnies to most however her prescription is +7.50 with a decent amount of astigmatism correction and in a multifocal! We saw one of our favorite reps today from VS Eyewear in Melbourne and have ordered some stunning new frames for you all. 18.01.2022 Have your eyes been feeling a little more tired and strained working from home? There's a few things you can do to help. - Every 20 mins take 20 seconds to look at something 6 metres away - Have a regular eye exam to make sure you are seeing the best you can without straining and that your eyes are nice and healthy - Make sure your prescription glasses are up to date so your eyes aren't working harder than they need to be - Speak to your Optometrist about a pair of Computer specific lenses, these lens designs are made specifically for computer and close work and where suitable can be of great benefit

16.01.2022 With social distancing guidelines starting to ease we are now able to conduct routine eye health exams! Leilei will be here 4 days a week for eye exams and health checks to celebrate. However we still aren't out of the woods yet and will still be keeping to our strict Covid safety guidelines. Booking 1hr for your appointment, cleaning after each patient and no more than 2 patients in the practice at a time. With many "at risk" patients we think its best to keep things a little tight to keep you safe. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you! Back in the early 2000s (Ian's memory is a little hazy these days) this sign stood in the window when the practice was being moved from its original location up the road at 15 Gymea Bay Rd. It had been buried behind display material out the back. We think it deserves to be back in the limelight

What does this really mean? Not much, they just want your money to go to their corporate partners. You are still able to claim your health fund entitlements with your preferred Optometrist, be it us or another privately owned practice who will make sure they take the time to care for your vision. We are operating under a strict APPOINTMENT ONLY schedule at the moment within social distancing guidelines. 08.01.2022 We know so much about you guys we thought we would should take a little time out to help you get to know our friendly staff a little better. Meet Steph. Steph is our new and improved Optical Dispenser and receptionist. Brenton is still here but Steph is just newer and improved 1. What is your favourite food?... This is a tough question as there’s so many cuisines and delicacies that I love! My favourite sweet dish is tiramisu. Savory would have to be a classic calamari and chips with tartare sauce! 2. What do you enjoy doing that makes you truly happy? Going to concerts with my friends. It’s a surreal experience that never gets old seeing your favourite singer or band live on stage and hearing them perform your favourite songs whilst you scream/sing the lyrics from the top of your lungs is an amazing experience. The energy from the crowd that fills the room within the stadium and arena is truly something special. Being in one place with others who love the same artist as you, is a great feeling to have. 3. What was the best vacation you ever took and why? One of my best vacations was a trip to Italy. The beautiful countryside, sparkling beaches and coastlines, ancient ruins, diverse landscapes, memorising artworks and museums, neverending shopping and the divine food and wine, especially the gelato! A day didn’t go by without me eating gelato! There is so much to see and enjoy, every region is different and you always see something new, no matter where you went. I was in Italy during Easter and we attended the Pope’s Easter Blessing in St Peter’s Square. It was an experience I will never ever forget. I loved every minute of the trip and I can’t wait to go back and to also explore the rest of the world! 4. What brought you to work in Optics and what has been the highlight of your time at Ian Cleaver Optometrist? My first encounter with Optics was of a young age, attending appointments at my local optometrist due to a family history of ocular problems. Like my dad, I am myopic, so I began wearing glasses and due to the increase in my prescription, I was fitted with Orthokeratology(Ortho-K). Due to this,I wanted to further explore the world of Optics and with my love of design and fashion in high school, I became interested in the statement pieces of eyewear. Choosing a person’s look is very intriguing for me, I am not only helping them choose their style but also making sure their prescription, facial shape and all the optical requirements are met to create a beautiful piece of eyewear. One of the highlights of my time at Ian Cleaver Optometrist, is witnessing the banter between Ian and Brenton! Its priceless! On a serious note, I love how we all take the time to help each other out and work as a team. Being the youngest team member, I’m really grateful to have so many successful mentors to look up to and to teach me to become a better and successful Optical Dispenser!
