25.01.2022 Some timber features from today! I love timber work. It’s something different from the general same same of every other day. This lovely Victorian ash had to be matched to the existing colour of the floors and skirts surrounding the new handrails and screen. 24.01.2022 I had some clients come to me and ask if I could paint their sons bed. At first my reaction was slightly confused as I wasnt sure on the best way to achieve a decent finish. Enter the Graco Ultra Max! This little ripper had smashed through this bed frame giving it a nice even finish using a 514 FFLP and taking minutes per coat! 20.01.2022 Not every day is easy! Today we are prepping the front of this little house at Holland Park. Unfortunately the paint was flaking pretty well everywhere so this means we have to sand it off the walls where it’s failed AND the steel balustrades as well as the concrete. This is what Happens when previous paint coatings aren’t applied properly. Not only is this pretty unpleasant for us to try and fix the issue - it’s a costly exercise for the home owner to have it all rectified. Using I.F Painting you can be rest assured that we always use the correct preparation process so although the initial bill may seem expensive - you know that it will last a lot longer than doing a cheaper quality job. 20.01.2022 Trying out some new products. So far so good! Primer is down and has passed the scratch test. There a bit of prep involved in painting kitchen cabinets (or any cabinets) - BUT as with anything. Proper preparation is the key to a successful job these cabinets have had 3 sugar soap wash downs, a sand, filled, sanded again, dusted and then primed. Now who can guess what colour theyre going. The main focus here was brightening the place up so it didnt always feel so dark inside. One easy way to do this is to help make areas feel open which in this case meant getting rid of the timber and painting it white! 16.01.2022 How good did these ceilings come up? Thanks to my new @festool_australia planex easy from @phillroindustries sanding these ceilings was a breeze! The longest part was unpacking and repacking the tools! And the best part about using the planex - I STAYED CLEAN! no more long washdowns after sanding plaster dust. No more inhaling all of the dust. 10.01.2022 What a massive couple of days! As you can see - this A frame was well and truly in need of some TLC! We went through and replaced any screw that was rusted and then treated any areas that had rusted on the roof itself. It then received a high pressure wash, a primer and then 2 x top coats of Dulux Roof membrane! We had a few troubles with this roof - as you can see - access was a massive issue - but we overcame the problem and worked as hard as we could and got the job done within the time frame required!! 10.01.2022 I say it again and again and again. Proper prep leads to a perfect finished job! See exhibit A and B. These ceilings were painted with very minimal prep for who knows what reason. The result was horrid. Thick edges from old paint, scratch marks all over the place, water stains coming through. Who wants to look at any of that? Well it was IF Painting to the rescue. The day was spent scraping any loose paint off, patching anywhere that was required and stain sealing where required. 07.01.2022 WASH DOWN DAY! Not many people realise the importance of keeping paintwork up to date (especially exterior). But the fact is - we live in a rather harsh climate and - the same as if you go out in the sun without sun cream on - you will get burnt - our homes are the same. Without being protected against the sun the paint will fade and ultimately break down costing more in the long run. As you can see in these photos - this house is a bit overdue as the paint has gone chalky or milky. 03.01.2022 A nice small job for a public holiday monday! There was a fair amount of rotted out timber on this front awning so I suggest it be replaced before it gets painted. Once I got the call I came straight out and got it all painted up to prevent the timber sitting in the weather unpainted. Here at I.F Painting, I personally wouldnt use anything on your house I wouldnt use on my own house. Pictured above is the products Ive used in my own house which I am in the process of painting. The gloss has been a trial and error as to making sure I get the desired gloss level. My wall paint Ive gone with Wattyl ID - which has been surprisingly easy to use and good coverag...e. Its washable and durable so itll survive my two girls when they get home normally my go to is Dulux Wash and Wear but I thought Id try something new (never hurts to have options for different client budgets) and the undercoat for my gloss work Ive used the Zinsser Smart Prime; just as good as oil based primer but without the terrible stink!
