24.01.2022 WE HAVEN'T PUT A POST OUT FOR AWHILE AND IAN HAS BEEN GETTING A FEW ENQUIRIES ABOUT AIR CON INSTALLATION. LAST YEAR IAN DECIDED HE WOULD ATTEMPT TO SEMI-RETIRE AND THEREFORE WOULD ONLY BE PRIMARILY DOING SERVICES AND REPAIRS. BELOW IS A COPY OF A POST FROM OCTOBER LAST YEAR AND AGAIN THE MESSAGE IS STRONG - MAKE SURE YOUR AIR CONDITIONING IS RUNNING PROPERLY NOW, DONT WAIT. IAN IS ALREADY BOOKED OUT FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS.... Now is the time for those with air conditioning to run all your units for at least an hour to ensure they are running effectively and efficiently. Over the winter months your air conditioning may have succumbed to their natural predators, those being frogs, geckos and mice, especially mice looking for water, they will chew on anything. If you find your air conditioning is not working properly, it may be a case it just needs a good service, these should be done every 12-18 months. A good air conditioning technician should take approx. 1hr to do your service. This should include taking out the filters, removing the plastic cover on the indoor unit and giving these a good clean. Whilst they are drying the Tech will then give the indoor unit coil a clean and check the drain is working properly. At this time the Tech may identify that the fan barrel needs a clean, these often get covered in a coating of mould. If this is required the Tech often refers to this as a deep clean, and therefore my take longer than the hour. After putting it all back together he will then go out and give the outdoor unit a clean, and then finally give the system a run to ensure all is working properly. So if your last service was someone coming in and just cleaning your filters you are being ripped off. Where you find your unit may need a repair, be mindful that for some brands of air conditioners, replacement parts may not be available if your unit is older than 5 to 7 years, unfortunately that is not the Tech’s fault who has to deliver the news but a manufacturers issue. Where you are looking to get air conditioning installed please make sure that the person is a licensed refrigeration and air conditioning tradesman, they should have both a Contractor’s Licence as well as an ARC Licence. You have every right to ask to see these. At this time of year when everyone is wanting to have air conditioning installed before Xmas we have heard stories in the past of unqualified tradesmen installing units. Where this occurs you will void your warranty and as air conditioning is a large investment with a warranty of up to 5 years it’s a big gamble to take. So if you are needing a service or repair on your air conditioner, then give Ian a call on 0408 422 940. And if you are looking to have air conditioning installed then give Ty from Rede Air & Electrical a call on 0421 235 652. DON’T LEAVE IT ANY LONGER

22.01.2022 We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year. Ian is having a break for Christmas, from close of business Thursday 19th December and will be returning on Tuesday the 28th of January 2020. Here are a couple of points that might help you through the summer:-... SUMMER STORMS : These storms can happen at anytime so you need to take action to protect not only your Air Conditioner but other electric appliances. The best way to prevent any problems is to switch your A/C off at the power source when you see a storm brewing. Here I mean at the power point, On / Off switch on the outside wall or the safety switch in your Meter Box. These storms can and will occur when you are not at home. A storm can cause damage through a lightning strike, black out or brown out. It can be as severe as electrical fusion which fries your circuit boards or something as simple as not restarting the unit. If you come home and your A/C is NOT working and your indoor unit is flashing take notice. Your indoor unit may flash as an error code e.g. E5 or flash in sequence of dots e.g. ****_****_. If you write this down, this will help a technician with diagnosing the problem if one is needed. After recording that code, if your unit has one, as not all do, then turn you’re A/C off at its power source for approx. 30 mins. When you go to turn on your A/C, first at the power source and then 10mins later with the remote. If the unit does not start straight away, again look for any codes. If you are going away for a weekend or for holidays, then make sure turning off you’re A/C at its power source is on your To Do List. EFFICIENT RUNNING OF YOUR AIR CONDITIONER : The major mistake people make is that they have been out for the day and come home to a hot house and turn the AC on low and flat out and it seems the unit is still running by the time you are going to bed. For these hot days there are things to do BEFORE you head out for the day / work. 1. The first thing is to close all your curtains. This stops the heat radiating through the glass windows. 2. Go through the house and close all the doors to those areas that you don’t use or want cooled, these include bathrooms, spare bedrooms, study, en suites, door to the garage, or those rooms that may have their own split system or window unit. 3. Learn how to use the timer. If your unit has a timer then set the unit to come on 1-2hrs before you are due to come home. In doing this you only need to set the temperature to around 24 degrees. This will allow the AC to come on only when the house gets above that temperature and will be running efficiently before you come home. You may not think 24 degrees is cool enough but if its been a day over 30 degrees the house will be cool and comfortable and the AC will be running efficiently which will also save you $$$s.

17.01.2022 Another storm brewing in the Grafton area. After Thursday afternoon and very early this morning it is so important to make sure your air conditioner has been turned off at it's power source, when you are not using it. That could be at a PowerPoint (just pull the cord out), a circuit switch in your Fuse/Metre Box or a switch on the wall near your outside Unit.... Stay safe.

15.01.2022 Silly season is upon us, no not Xmas, Santa, Parties or holidays but people leaving it until it gets hot to think about their air conditioning needs. Over the winter months your air conditioning may have succumbed to their natural predators, those being frogs, geckos and mice, especially mice looking for water, they will chew on a...nything. 09.01.2022 With the weather starting to warm up, you need to start thinking about your air conditioning needs. Ian is starting to think about RETIREMENT and therefore will... no longer be taking on Installations however he is still here to meet all your servicing needs. If you haven't had your air conditioner serviced within the last 18 months then you need to have it serviced BEFORE it starts to get really hot in order to have it working effectively and efficiently. Give Ian a call now. If you are wanting to have air conditioning installed then give Tyrone from Rede Air & Electrical a call. Ty is a fully qualified Electrician and completed his Refrigeration and Air Conditioning apprenticeship with Ian, and holds all the necessary qualifications and licences. Check out his Facebook page. PLEASE remember if you are looking at getting air conditioning then make sure the person you are looking at holds the appropriate licences including a licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council (A.R.C.), this will ensure your installation is covered for Warranty purposes. Make sure you ask to see their Photo ARC Licence.

07.01.2022 Another storm brewing in the Grafton area. Make sure your air conditioner has been turned off at it's power source. That could be at a PowerPoint (just pull the cord out), a circuit switch in your Fuse/Metre Box or a switch on the wall near your outside Unit.

04.01.2022 It has been VERY HOT, and many people are scrambling trying to get air conditioning installed. Unfortunately like Ian, many of the qualified installers are now booked up until after Xmas. This occurs every year, and every year we hear about unqualified people installing air conditioning, preying on those, desperate to get relief from the heat. Some offer a great price if they are paid in cash. Now there is nothing wrong with paying any tradesman in cash but if you don’t... receive an invoice for the work done then you have no proof of payment if something goes wrong in the future. In relation to your air conditioning it is important that you only get someone who is a qualified Refrigeration & Air Conditioning tradesman and has an A.R.C. Licence (Australian Refrigeration Council) issued by the Department of the Environment. What is at risk is your A/C Units’ warranty. Air Conditioning is an investment and most units have a minimum of 5 years warranty. If you have used an unqualified person to install your unit and/or you are unable to provide proof of payment then you potentially void your warranty, so please be careful.
