14.01.2022 Posted video of IAOMAS Masters Q1 2017 at our IAOMAS on LinkedIn Group. Check out the thread titled IAOMAS Australia. BTW, did I mention that you should subscribe to this group to be a formal member of IAOMAS? https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2045110

13.01.2022 The old website crashed badly - taking away the directory. New site is WIP at www.iaomas.com. Check it out.
12.01.2022 Okinawan Goju Ryu, Kobudo, Arnis, Chen Pan Ling Tai Chi Chuan, Yoga, martial art books, extensive martial arts research and award-winning blogging, Gashuku natu...re retreats, and a very impressive YouTube channel. Whichever avenue you choose to measure them on, the Academy of Traditional Fighting Arts brings along their A game. I first met the Djurdjevic brothers Nenad and Dan all the way back in 2004 during the early days of IAOMAS in Perth. To be honest, I was impressed with just about everything I saw from these two instructors, and from their students. They trained traditionally, they pushed themselves hard, and were diligent in practicing and sharing their craft. And probably difficult for most to understand, they are incredibly open-minded with their study. I could go on and on about how amazing these two instructors are, and you'd think I am simply exaggerating because these guys are my friends. To really impress you, I have to share a story of how I sent an open call to martial arts friends in 2014. We needed some help so that a student of mine could have a few people to spar with at his grading. I thought I would get a maximum of 2 or 3 people. From Academy of Traditional Fighting Arts alone I had 5 representatives come. At our humble dojang, we eventually had 8 opponents from multi-style backgrounds come to support us. And they were totally appropriate - friendly, respectful, fighting to the best of their abilities, with excellent control, and presenting a very high level of skill. And without any fuss, they helped referee, managed ring safety, and were very supportive of my student getting exposure to each of their styles. To be honest, that was one of the most enjoyable demonstrations of fighting ability I've seen in my 34 year career, and it was right there in the confines of my little garage dojang. Several years ago, it was my honour to be able to facilitate the nomination and presentation of The Official Karate Magazine's Golden Shuto Award for Outstanding Scholarship Online to Dan Djurdjevic. At that time, Dan had already amassed more than 300 extensive articles of a quality which I believe is unparalleled in the world of martial arts blogging. Along with the award, I was able to share well wishes from three other eminent international bloggers, all of whom highly admired him for his scholastic work, his attention to detail, his amazing knowledge, and the inspiration that he sets for other martial arts authors worldwide. In the middle of this year - 2017, Nenad Djurdjevic led an excellent training session at the IAOMAS Masters series I have been coordinating. Sharing with us insights and techniques from one of his kata, he shared his foundation in and love for Goju, but at the same time talked about how important it is to get perspective by training with different people, be systematic in training (it's like learning scales when playing music), and to have control whilst pursuing knowledge. Over my many years of training martial arts, I often am asked questions from parents such as 'do I know of any martial art schools operating in their suburb'. Every time I field that specific question, I wonder why no one bothers to ask me whether I can recommend an instructor who would be worthy for them to approach in their search or study of something worthwhile. And then I would think of these two situated in Bayswater, and how even a 45 minute drive would be so worthwhile if you wanted the thought leadership and application from Dan, or the spiritual leadership and practicality from Nenad. I'm sure they would try to self-efface away labels like 'thought leadership' or 'spiritual leadership'. But this is how they are. Soft spoken. Polite. Thoughtful. Intelligent. And really passionate practitioners. Great qualities that have inspired me for many years. I close off an excellent 2017 with personal health and happiness, good holidays, a loving and tight family, and the luck to have attended the last training session at Academy of Traditional Fighting Arts on December 23th. The training, as I have come to expect, challenged my coordination and mental alertness. The randori with their black belts was persistent and tough. And the level of their application and conceptual understanding was world class. What more can I ask for?

11.01.2022 Our timing with the Australian IAOMAS Masters Jan 2021 event could not have been better. Perth, Western Australia is now preparing itself for an imminent second lockdown. https://www.abc.net.au//covid-quarantine-hotel-wo/13106968
10.01.2022 Today I have finally taken down the IAOMAS flag from my little dojang here in Perth, for the long overdue handover to the next IAOMAS Coordinator Ron Jenson. I apologise for the delay ... however, I have had pressing personal matters to attend to. But yes, the ball has started rolling, and the flag is now in the washing machine getting ready to make its way to Ron.
09.01.2022 Outgoing Coordinator and Incoming IAOMAS Coordinator at their first business meeting. As you can see, it was a formal event!!! Lol
08.01.2022 Salutations! I wanted to get a feel for where we are at with both members and non-members. I've created a quick survey via SurveyMonkey with just a few questions. Please take a few moments and complete the survey. It's anonymous (no IP tracking) and would be a great help! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9PX7G8M... Thank you and regards, Ron Jensen 2016 IAOMAS Coordinator
05.01.2022 Hello friends. All the best to you in this New Year.
02.01.2022 IAOMAS Masters had our first event for the year at Budokan Netes Dojo our in Kenwick, WA. This event featured instructors having a short 'show and tell' session for all in attendance. This differs from the previous sessions we've had, and was chosen to help get more instructors to share after experiencing the 2020 pandemic here in WA. We would like to thank Andrew Netes Shihan for graciously hosting this event, and for opening up his dojo to one and all. ... A huge thank you to all the presenters who volunteered their time, and shared their thoughts and systems with everyone: Andrew Netes Terence Bridgeman Gary Simpson Paul Marston Kaneda Cruz Peter James & Doug Spear Paul Araki-Metcalfe I'd like to thank Oscar Bennett and Colin Martin for helping with morning tea. Lastly, thank you all for coming. And we missed those of you who were trying to come but couldn't make it. https://youtu.be/5Af0IdIH6w4
01.01.2022 IAOMAS ... or at least Colin is heading to Singapore to meet up with long time IAOMAS member Senior Master K C Tan. That's him fourth from left.
