24.01.2022 IAS Sponsor Victorian M&G Conference, 2016 We were proud to be the principle sponsor of the recent Victorian Museums & Galleries Conference, held at Cowes, Victoria, between the 6th and 7th October. Cowes is the main township on Phillip Island in the Gippsland region of Victoria. It is about two hours' drive from Melbourne and can also be reached by ferry from Stony Point on the Mornington Peninsula. Cowes is located on the northern side of Phillip Island and faces towards F...rench Island and the Mornington Peninsula. The Victorian Museums & Galleries Conference 2016 was attended by 140 delegates, and under the central theme of Future-proofing, the Conference provided the delegates the opportunity to consider the challenges facing museums and galleries, and focus on innovative ways to achieve financial, social (succession planning, staff training), and environmental sustainability. 13.01.2022 I often depict children in my work because they represent potential. They have not yet developed the biases of adults. We can imagine that their hearts are ope...n in the face of difference. In 'The Fitzroy Series' we see many different connections between humans and new and unnatural life modelled for us in a potentially realistic way. Children also bring out the best in us, we can empathise with them, and in my work they highlight our unease with new technology when we see them so close to unnatural creatures. - Patricia Piccinini 'Patricia Piccinini & Joy Hester: Through love ' installation view of Patricia Piccinini artworks (l-r) Balasana 2009, Private collection; Bedroom, 10.30pm from The Fitzroy Series 2011, Collection of the artist; Doubting Thomas 2008, McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery, Langwarrin, Purchased in 2010, The Elisabeth Murdoch Sculpture Foundation; and Workshop, 7.00pm from The Fitzroy Series 2011, Collection of the artist.
