25.01.2022 Introducing our new Chair- Tully Hadley. Tully brings tremendous experience and a commitment to the industry and its people. We are very excited to have Tully leading us through the next stage of development for the IBD Asia-Pacific. We thank Dr. Megan Sheehy (our outgoing chair) for all her hard work -especially over the last 6 months, navigating us through the challenges of COVID. You've definitely earned yourself a beer or two ... Cheers https://www.brewsnews.com.au//ibd-asia-pacific-announces-/

25.01.2022 ** IBD AP WA Xmas Regional Meeting** WA Christmas debate Legends Vs Punks at The Dutch Trading Company. "Modern Brewing is strong on art and weak on science" Legends for the affirmative and Punks for the Negative. ... Much laughs and a good little sign off for the year. The records will show the Punks got up but really beer and fellowship won on the night. Cheers

23.01.2022 ** IBD Asia Pacific AGM and WA Regional Meeting ** Mid-October saw IBD Asia Pacific hold its combined Annual General Meeting and WA Regional Meeting at the beautiful Whipper Snapper Distillery in Perth. A strong turnout of both IBD members and guests from the broader brewing and distilling communities were present for the election of new Asia Pacific board members David Baxter, Gary Faulkner and Chris Willcock, and to farewell long-standing board members Ian Roberts (who reti...red in May this year), Alex Greville and Jaideep Chandrasekharan. We will certainly miss the insights and significant contribution of our departing board members, and at the same time welcome and look forward to the fresh ideas and perspectives of our incoming directors. The AGM was made all the more special given the opportunity to hear from Whipper Snapper founder, and head distiller Jimmy McKeown, and from storyteller Barry who brought to life the Whipper Snapper journey - taking us behind the scenes of production at Perths first urban distillery, and giving us a tasting tour of Whipper Snappers signature Crazy Uncle moonshine and Upshot cask strength, amongst others. A delicious grazing table, and the warm oak of the Whipper Snapper barrels provided the perfect backdrop for a fun, thought-provoking, and memorable evening. Huge thanks to Gage Roads Brewing Co., and other passionate local Perth brewers, for supplying the always-appreciated-cold-beer for the evening, and of course to Jimmy, Barry and the team at Whipper Snapper for so generously hosting IBD Asia Pacific. If you werent able to be with us on the night, be sure to pay Whipper Snapper a visit for a tour and tasting on your next trip to the West. The experience is definitely worth it, and might turn you into a whisky connoisseur yet

13.01.2022 ** IBD Asia Pacific TAS Regional Meeting** Last night HopCo hosted the Tasmanian Regional event at their office complex which also happens to be home to the Boekamp Bier Brewery. It was an excellent night with over 20 in attendance. Jurriaan showed us around his brewery. In an era of craft ale breweries it was refreshing to see how a traditional lager brewery is set up. Jurriaan brews traditional Bavarian lagers using an old 30hL brewhouse that was used as a pilot brewery for... a certain Dutch company in the 1970's. He still has the old operation station. The brewery was spotless and the beers beautiful, clear, crisp and very refreshing on what was a warm night. HopCo have a very special workplace complete with tennis table and a pinball machine. The food was fantastic. A BBQ meal prepared by a competitive BBQ Chef. A big thank you to Sandy and HopCo for supporting the IBD and supplying all the food and beer. Cheers

09.01.2022 **IBD Asia Pacific NSW Regional Meeting** LEGENDS OF BREWING Our last meeting for 2019 once again followed our tradition over the last few years of inviting someone from the Industry who has been involved in brewing for over 30 years and hence can be regarded as a Legend. This year we were fortunate to enlist Dermott ODonnell who is now based in Victoria and is still very active in the Industry.... The meeting was held at Malt Shovel Brewery and was really well attended with over 40 members and guests in attendance. Dermott spoke about his career involving over 50 years which included overseas stints in the UK. He regaled us with some great stories and the audience loved his many humorous accounts of life in all the breweries in which he was involved over a very long and distinguished career. Then followed the usual fine food catered by Richard and of course the great beers currently on offer by Malt Shovel with some of their newest offerings including 2 fruit sour beers one called Divorce as it is passionfruit based in that in a marriage once the passion has gone divorce follows. We would like to thank Chuck Hahn and Haydon Morgan and staff for their wonderful hospitality as they do every year. it is certainly a great venue and made a very enjoyable evening for our members and guests. Cheers

05.01.2022 **NSW Fermentis Yeast Academy - Sponsored by IBD AP** We tried something new in NSW yesterday. Rather than compete with, we trialed a sponsorship of another great technical event - the Fermentis Yeast Academy held at Stockade Barrel Room in Marrickville. There was a great turn out, particularly from the craft crowd but also a few bigger brewers. 80 ppl in total. The content was great and the event in general was really well organised.... NSW IBD AP helped to promote the event to our members and donated $500 to a bar shout at the end of the day. In exchange, Chris our NSW Regional coordinator took a few mins to tell people about the IBD and promote our Asia Pac network. Response was great and he had quite a few questions from interested brewers afterwards. A big THANK YOU to Fermentis and Bintani for a great day!! A pretty good success we'd say, but we still owe the local NSW IBD membership a great exclusive event or two over the next few months - so watch this space! Cheers

03.01.2022 NSW Regional Meeting - First ‘in person’ meeting of the year in Sydney. Our ‘Legends of Brewing’ series featured a great overview of Jeff Potter’s 30 yr career as well as some pretty good beers and views. About 60 members made it out on a warm Monday night - Cheers
