25.01.2022 Embedding our Indigenous Culture into our service by using our local Indigenous language to remind us to keep our fingers away from our faces and to cough into our elbows.

25.01.2022 It's amazing how you can create a whole new area just by using a whole heap of muscle and a little creativity. This is our drop off and pick up area. Revamped in 8 hours.

25.01.2022 Some of our outdoor experiences this week.

24.01.2022 Simple yet so effective. This is a thank you gift for Uncle and Aunty who came to show us a little bit of their culture

23.01.2022 Just a couple of changes to the inside environment to accommodate for the children's interests and to Start the New Year fresh.

22.01.2022 Some sustainable activities to allow the children to explore emotions, colours and shapes.

21.01.2022 Happy Australia Day everyone! Enjoy this video some of our KWS presenters singing and signing 'I am Australian' by The Seekers.

19.01.2022 A simple activity, flower suncatchers, for our Mum's for Mother's Day.

18.01.2022 Out with the old, and in with the new. Daycare makeover from the ground up. I do have to say it is definitely a whole lot more calm and relaxed now. All in a weekend

16.01.2022 A simple activity, flower suncatchers, for our Mums for Mothers Day.

15.01.2022 I know "Sorry Day" has been and gone this year. I had shared this on my Kinderloop for all the families that were isolating at the time. (Forgot to post this in May)

13.01.2022 More activities we have planned for next week. We have learned the Bundjalung word for koala is "burabi", we have also learned the Auslan sign for koala.

13.01.2022 Using loose parts to create an obstacle course with the children. P.S. check out our passionfruits

12.01.2022 "For 60,000 years or more first peoples of this land, sustained by Country, Dreamtime told by word and artists hand." Choirs unite to perform a fresh take on the national anthem at the Desert Song Festival.

12.01.2022 We went on a walk to our local Life Line shop to purchase some new, but well loved by others, books. Getting our amongst the community is always exciting for the little people who attend my service Purchasing pre-loved books is a great way to teach sustainability. Helping children make choices, interact with others and teaching them how to purchase items from a shop are all valuable life skills. Road safety is always practiced whenever we walk (its a great way to introduce/ begin teaching about left and right also

12.01.2022 I spy with my little eye.... The children have been learning Auslan and can now confidently sign, "little green frog". We enjoy going on regular yard outings (excursions have been temporarily on hold due to COVID19) searching for frogs. In total we have found 8 little green frogs and one big frog.

11.01.2022 If you live in a bushfire prone area, have you discussed an emergency plan with your kids?

10.01.2022 We were outside playing on the kayak and discussing all the different creatures that live under the sea. EXTENTION came about in the form of the children creating their own magnetic fishing game. It was also a perfect opportunity to begin introducing the children to "POLLUTION"

10.01.2022 We also put them on the floor and jump in different directions

09.01.2022 Interesting information https://m.facebook.com//a.312640745872312/777729429363439/

09.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET . This week I delivered a couple of craft activities to families who are self isolating. This morning my family and I did the Driveway at Dawn Parade to honor those who fought for us, to enable us to be able to live a life of freedom. Thank you to the fallen soldiers. We will remember you. Lest We Forget

09.01.2022 Some of the activities available

09.01.2022 Just a few activities to extend on Childrens interests.

08.01.2022 #Repost @perthchildrensot This is my most widely shared post. And rightly so, its an important one. These are prewriting patterns, with the age at which ...children are developmentally ready to achieve these patterns listed below them in years and months. Being able to process visual information and produce a movement in response (e.g. copying these prewriting patterns or letter formations), is known as visual motor integration. Note that an X is not typically achieved until 4 years 11 months, and a triangle at 5 years 3 months. If a child cant form these basic shapes...then they probably wont be able to form letters. It is quite concerning then that there are 3 year 7 month olds starting formal schooling, where theyre expected to write. Not only are their visual motor integration skills not developed enough, their hands are also physically under-developed. In addition, recognising letters, understanding phonics and beginning to read are all needed in order for a child to write meaningfully, skills which children starting kindy typically dont have. We also know that when a child learns something that doesnt hold meaning, its unlikely to stick. So if you have a 3-4 year old who spontaneously asks or attempts to write letters, thats great; otherwise, there is no need to initiate or worry about this. Unfortunately there is a misconception, particularly with the way that the current curriculum stands, that earlier is better. Earlier is not always better. #visualmotorintegration #vmi #letterformations #prewriting #writing #kindy #schoolreadiness #earlierisnotbetter #toomuchtoosoon #letthembelittle #letthemplay #prewritingskills #foundationskills #phonics #phonologicalawareness #earlyliteracyskills #literacy #earlyreaders #reading #occupationaltherapy #paediatrics #paediatricot #kidsofperth #perthkids #schoolbasedtherapy #teacher #teachersofinstagram #australiancurriculum #schoolholidays See more

08.01.2022 Our outside environment

08.01.2022 The children are all very interested in life cycles at the moment. We were fortunate to be gifted some silkworms to extend upon our learning. We are learning that all creatures, great and small, have a place in the world. We are on the lookout for tadpoles as an extension.

07.01.2022 Another simple idea that can be used and modified to suit many agaes. Colour recognition Fine motor development Hand eye coordination Counting... Pattern making Language development Learning left and right See more

07.01.2022 Happy Australia Day everyone! Enjoy this video some of our KWS presenters singing and signing I am Australian by The Seekers.

06.01.2022 The paintings look even better in a frame (names have been covered with banner for confidentiality)

06.01.2022 You may have been in this situation yourself... Billy, aged 12 months, comes into the room and you wave happily saying Good morning Billy! Billy stares at you...... so you say Hiya. Can you say hi? Are you going to wave Billy? Billy doesn’t respond so you stop and move on. Suddenly, Billy starts waving and says Hiya. . . . So what happened there? Why the pause? What was Billy thinking? The Communication Chain. We take for granted how easily communication comes to us. An adults brain speeds through this process, because we’re experts! We’ve been talking for years. We need to allow time for a child’s brain to complete each step. It can feel uncomfortable, so we tend to fill the silence with more language. But this only makes the process even more confusing. Give them time.

06.01.2022 This is real life. Daycare life. 25 THINGS YOU DID NOT KNOW ABOUT DAYCARE PROVIDERS 1. Being a daycare provider is our job, not a hobby. Daycare providers are not babysitters, unless parents want to pay us $12 - $20 per hour! Then we will happily become your daily babysitters! 2. When daycare providers get an unexpected day off, it feels like Christmas morning. Best gift ever! Dont judge us....Continue reading

06.01.2022 Track making with cars, so much learning going on. "What pattern does your vehicle make?" "Can you drive forward? Can you drive in reverse? Lets turn left or right." "What colour are you using?" Great activity to encourage language skills, fine motor development, creativity and turn taking.

05.01.2022 Has everyone had a try of this simple pinecone experiment? It is extremely easy and quite amazing. All you need is an open pinecone (see pic 1) and a container of water. Put the dry pinecone in the container of water and watch it transform (takes a number of hours). Then when you have discovered what happens, sit the closed, wet pinecone in a dry area and watch as it returns to the original open shape (also takes a number of hours depending on the weather).

04.01.2022 As it is NAIDOC WEEK this week, I decided to redo a craft I have done many times before, "Cave painting". First the children paint their paper plates in red, black and yellow. When they are happy with their creation, I help them to hold their hand on the painting as flour is sprinkled around their hands. I think these turned out beautifully. (I asked before doing this activity whether it was respectful to the aboriginal culture and was told it was fine.)

04.01.2022 Our bears and rainbow in our window have proved to be of interest to those passing by. My bear friends inform me that they really enjoy just "hanging out with their friends". (I dont think they really understand the social distancing rule )

04.01.2022 We saw a beautiful rainbow on one of our walks and decided we would like to make rainbows. Older children used scissors and glue. Younger children used contact to create their masterpieces. We worked on fine motor skills, colour recognition, creativity and language development. ... Oh and of course we had fun and sang the Rainbow song a quazillion times while also practicing our colour names in Auslan. See more

04.01.2022 Some more activities sent home for families who are self isolating. (Obviously children do not have to complete these activities the way I have, these are just examples) Children who are attending are also creating these things

04.01.2022 Woohoo, we have no vacancies for 2020. Thank you to all the families that have chosen to enrol and those who choose to continue to keep your children in my service. as always I will enjoy working with you as together we make your precious gems sparkle and shine

02.01.2022 We will definitely be learning this great song for now and well into the future https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=350694795622830&id=173407216019501

02.01.2022 We have been learning about our teeth and how to clean them, what they are for and what happens when one falls out. Naturally we had to make a tooth fairy. We also had to make a basket and some "teeth" to go inside the basket. Very creative morning.

02.01.2022 We have been learning about Australian animals, in particular the koala here at the moment. We made a moveable koala and learned the spoken English word, learned the sign and learned our local Indigenous word for Koala. To extend upon our learning, I made up a song and added some sign language to it. The children are enjoying dancing with their koalas as we sing and sign

02.01.2022 Just a few activities to extend on Children's interests.

02.01.2022 I know its early but we have begun our Fathers Day gifts already Simple, sustainable Pringles Money boxes
