23.01.2022 I’m tired Let’s talk about resting in God Matthew 11:28-30 NIV Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke ...upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Jesus isn’t talking about physical burden here, he’s talking about the burden of the law keeping of the Pharisees, essentially saying that law keeping doesn’t bridge the gap between sin and holiness, and this can be a heavy yoke to bear. Jesus relates Christianity to resting, saying how it is an escape and relief in comparison to the intense law keeping of the Pharisees. Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. In this case, it’s not only a physical renewal, but also a spiritual renewal. We can find rest in God, not only in regards to laws, but also physically and spiritually.
