22.01.2022 Tasmanian sledge to Canada A Polypod SnowCamper Sledge, the second polar product designed by the late Malcolm Wallhead, is due to be air freighted to Canada this week. The Canadian Armed Forces will undertake trials with the sledge to see if it is suitable for medical evacuations and emergency storm shelters. The pre-fabricated, canopy-covered, insulated sledge is designed to be towed behind a skidoo or quad bike. The base can be used as a punt while the canopy is used as a tent. The whole unit, with a fin added for stability, can be flown by helicopter.

18.01.2022 These photos of Camp Byers, a seasonal Spanish base camp on Byers Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetlands, Antarctica. The base was established in 2001 and Igloo No. 133, a unit with 4 sets of extension panels, was set up that year. Igloo No. 137, the same size, was set up in 2002. One of the Igloos is used as a laboratory and the other for domestic purposes. Thanks to H. Moreno, who kindly sent them to Icewall One.

17.01.2022 The Igloo Satellite Cabin which is part of New York's American Museum of Natural History's 'Race to the End of the Eartth' exhibition is still on tour after 9 years. The exhibition traces Scott and Amundsen's treks to the South Pole and has been on display at AMNH from May 2010, then at National Geographic; Royal British Columbia Museum; Museum of Idaho; Musee des Confluences, Lyon; Estonian Maritime Museum, Talinn; Titanic, Belfast; Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and next year, Pink Palace. Let's hope a museum on Australia will be on the list one day.

17.01.2022 If you think the basic Igloo is too small for your purposes, check out the space available in an extended Igloo, up to 6 metres long. Some of these Igloos are in Antarctica - thanks for the photos, AAD expeditioners - and others are being prepared in the workshops. Find out more https://icewall.com.au/

12.01.2022 A family of three were rescued from Cradle Cirque yesterday afternoon after they encountered extreme weather conditions which were exacerbated by minor injuries... acquired due to those conditions. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania and a land team of Police Search and Rescue members located the family after they were advised of a PLB activation on the Cradle Cirque by AMSA. The family of a mother, son and daughter were located in an emergency shelter and flown from the area. #rescue #goteam #skilled

11.01.2022 For the latest interview about Igloos, check out http://www.abc.net.au//progra/breakfast/breakfast/10305192. Starts about 1.02 mins in.

03.01.2022 If you're working from home, in isolation, why not have an off-ice Igloo? These are my favourites. Think a 3 metre diameter Igloo won't fit much? This gear fits in just two of the eight panels. Find out more https://icewall.com.au/
