25.01.2022 2020 relived. Too good not to share. *SOUND ON*

23.01.2022 Mind blown! During our short holiday in the Tweed valley we stumbled upon the Tweed Regional Gallery. Oh Em Gee, I cannot believe how freakin’ amazing this place is. Don’t get me wrong, I have, by no stretch of the imagination, any knowledge about art, but WOW! this gallery is outstanding. Stuck on the outskirts of Murwillumbah, a small country town with a population of 9,000+. What a coup for this town, this gallery is just mind-blowing. Even before entering the build...ing anyone would be awestruck with natural beauty of its location. But for sure the jewel in its crown has to be the Margaret Olley exhibition. The Art Gallery NSW describes Margaret Olley as ‘one of Australia's most significant still-life and interior painters. She drew inspiration from her home and studio and the beauty of the everyday objects she gathered around her. Many of her paintings feature arrangements of fruits and flowers, set amid the pottery, art and exotica of her travels.’ Not only does the Tweed Regional Gallery display some of Margaret Olley’s paintings, it actually has the interior of her home, the inspiration for much of her art, as it last stood when she died in 2011. I don’t want to say any more about it, I just want you to go and see it for yourself. These photos are just a snapshot of what you’ll see. Have you been to this gallery? What did you think?

23.01.2022 Get on your bike and ride! The Tweed Coast has done so much, so right (IMHO). The Tweed joins the Gold Coast on the NSW/QLD border and although it is the same coast line they are like chalk and cheese in the way the local councils have chosen to develop them. The great thing is there is a market for both. ... The Gold Coast (which you can see from the Tweed Coast) is party central. It’s busy with high rises, themes parks, shopping centres, razzle, dazzle and sparkle. The Tweed is more nature based, quieter, slower and laid back. No building is allowed to go over three storeys and there is a highly protected green corridor between the residences and the beach. Even though many of the properties are $m+ nobody has a sea-view. This day we chose to hire bikes and ride from Cabarita to beyond Kingscliff and back. Approx 20km along designated bike paths and boardwalks the whole way. This is just one of many options for cycling/walking along the coast. If you’re ever in the area be sure to give it a go. Are you more of a Gold Coast or Tweed Coast person?

21.01.2022 We see lots of quotes, then occasionally one stops us in our tracks. It either makes us laugh, or it’s poignant or very on-point to how we’re feeling at that moment. This quote I saw at a lovely country restaurant in the Tweed Valley, @mavises_kitchen, on the weekend. ... Quite simply, it made me laugh. Do you have a favourite quote? Or has a quote stopped you in your tracks recently?

18.01.2022 Ain’t that the truth!

15.01.2022 I can put a big against my list of Things I Want to Experience. From memory two birthdays that ended with a zero have passed and my perfect birthday experience never eventuated. All good things come to those that wait. ... With alarm set for 3am (see selfie photos and the signs are there!) we arrived at @thefarmatbyronbay at 4.30am. I’m so grateful to be able to go on my very first balloon ride and loved every damned second if it. What experience are you looking forward to having one day? #hiking #nature #adventure #trekking #hiking #hikingadventures #outdoors #hike #wanderlust #hikingaustralia #bushwalking #iconadventures #nationalpark #wilderness #mountains #balloon #hotairballoon #thefarmbyronbay #balloonaloft #byronbayballooning #sunrise #earlymornings #byronbayhinterland #wanderwoman #sustainabletravel #threeblueducksbyron

15.01.2022 What are your thoughts on reviews? Do you read them? Do you give them? This short blog shows how reviews can go so very very wrong

11.01.2022 Holiday on track - loving our accommodation at Mt Warning Estate. It’s the attention to detail and the quirkiness I love.

05.01.2022 Trees - don’t you just love them! I’ve always been a bit fascinated with trees and with the stories they could tell. Growing up in England I used to imagine the things a 300 year old oak trees had seen. The conversations it would have heard, the people it watched grow from childhood to old age. The generations of people that would have passed by it’s boughs.... If only the trees could talk. We came across this tree on the way to Hell’s Hole in Jerusalem National Park (why goes every place seem to have a hell hole!). Who couldn’t resist having a swing? And the door to the tree trunk looks like the stuff that kid’s story books are made from. Do you have a favourite tree?
