24.01.2022 Secure it in! Ask any experienced wedding coordinator, and I am sure they have a story or two about a veil on a wedding day Many of us have: chased a veil that has come loose from a bride's hair had to wrestle a veil to get it under control... or unsnagged it from all sorts of items So, I urge you to make sure that your veil is WELL secured into your hair before you walk out the door to avoid any unplanned issues during your ceremony!! 23.01.2022 Don't be an ass As Ellen DeGeneres once said: You should never assume. You know what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of you and me because that's how it's spelt. ... Communication is the key to organising a great wedding, so never assume that your suppliers will be providing any items or services unless you have discussed this with them! Whether it is a DJ bringing a table ; Your cake arriving on a cake stand ; Caterer with service staff .... It may feel like you are picking every detail apart but YOU NEED TO!! It means that there are fewer surprises on the day or in the few days prior The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. I've run out of sayings now... I hope you have heard me loud and clear ;) See more

23.01.2022 New blog is out - and this one has some VERY exciting news included! So you'll want to get your little eyes over this one! Over the years that I have worked in the wedding and events industry, I have heard some sad stories of planning nightmares from couples ... usually occurring mid-way through or closer to their wedding day. And it breaks my heart as I feel so many of these stories could have been avoided if couples had got t...heir foundations sorted at the start. What do I mean by this? Have a read of my latest blog "PLAN YOUR WEDDING - Why it is so Important to Get Your Foundations Right First!" https://www.iconicweddings.com.au/plan-your-wedding-why-it/ Share the love and get this to someone recently engaged. They will thank you for it PS read to the end to hear my exciting news. Love this pic by @shoshkruger captured of beautiful bride S with blooms by Green Vase Flowers

23.01.2022 Tall candle alert! I LOVE a tall candle as part of any styling . For me, they add class, romance and interest to a setup. However, the practicality of them must be considered as they can be easily knocked over when put in the wrong place ... Consider an alternate option or be mindful of their placement if you are using them: on a table with shared plates on a bar on a grazing table Your wedding will certainly be memorable if a candle caused a fire or burnt an outfit - but I'm sure it's probably not the memorable you want! 22.01.2022 Something special A wedding day is something that we aim to do only once in our lives. So have you considered adding something into your day that adds a little more magic to this event? For each couple, it will be different depending on your interests, budget, logistics, etc.... But why not think of something that works with all of these things to add an extra bit of magic to your day Sunset drinks cruising the river? Umm yes please!! 22.01.2022 Do you wish you could afford a wedding planner? Are you finding the free resources online good but wish you had some guidance that was far more personal? I get it because I have seen so many couples just. like. you. ... Couples who struggle along because they don't have room in the budget for a full wedding planning service. Who just need some time to chat with someone who can answer their questions and look over their ideas, plans and logistics for the day. I hear you and I see you. So I have redesigned my packages to offer services that are what you need. Chunks of time to dig in to guide your next steps of your planning; to answer your questions; to look at your plans to ensure your whole day runs without a hiccup. When you can do so much of your planning yourself - why would you pay for a full service wedding planner? Check out my website for how I can help you ( www.iconicweddings.com.au ) or DM me. xx See more

21.01.2022 Take time out Having spoken to couples after their wedding day and a common thing I hear is "the day went so fast" You spend sooo many months (even years!) thinking, planning, dreaming about your big day that it is quite an indescribable feeling to wake up the next morning knowing that this focus has gone That's why I love the idea of taking time out (even 20min) with your partner to soak up the day.... Share a drink Just sit Whatever it is you want to do but just stop away from everyone and everything I haven't heard of a couple who has regretted doing this. 21.01.2022 Why have a bridal party Wondering if you should have a bridal party or not? Surely being able to do this for a photo is a good enough reason to have one @jamesdayweddings you continue to amaze me with all that you do. This was too good not to repost

20.01.2022 Moving the troops If you are having your ceremony and reception in 2 different locations, why not consider providing transport for your guests to get them from A to B by hiring a bus or coaster? Also a huge winner for those couples having a destination wedding where their venue is some distance from everyone's accommodation. We did this for our guests on our wedding day and it saved so many logistical headaches for them and us, and... was loads of fun after a celebratory drink post-ceremony Yes it is an additional cost for you but a generous gesture by you for your guests to make their attendance at your wedding even easier Not a pink bus, but if kombis are your thing, check out @kustekombis for their awesome vehicles. 20.01.2022 Enjoy the moment Being engaged is one of the most unique feelings ever! For me, it was a full mix of: excitement, expectation, ... security, love, and so much more. But I see many couples navigating those big feelings that come with the weight of planning a wedding So soak up those good feelings - make them the focus of your day and enjoy this special time in your life This incredible sketch is created by the uber-talented @cassandraanderson_illustration See more

19.01.2022 How to choose the perfect arbour Traditionally, the use of a wedding arch was to symbolise the couples new home There are also some articles that say that a wedding arch was a symbol of the love and care from the parents for the couple ... Nowadays wedding arches come in all different shapes and sizes (hence the use of the more common term "wedding arbour") and are used largely to decorate the ceremony space behind the couple A wedding arbour links the ceremony to the style of the reception and adds a bit of wow to your ceremony photos So how to choose your perfect arbour? Find a shape, style and design that celebrates your ceremony location. Just like this beautiful arbour at Stonebarn, Pemberton adds something eye-catching to the ground and doesn't block the amazing view behind. 18.01.2022 A bit of GOLD for your Tuesday evening Now if you've been following along for some time, you would know that I am a huge fan of unplugged ceremonies But, my friends, I would be tempted to throw this in the bin just to see a guest in the crowd film my ceremony like this ... 17.01.2022 Light me up Adding a feature light to your reception setup can take your styling from "nice" to "wow" Some venues have excellent lighting for events and some will have limitations on what you can do When deciding whether your setup needs it or not, consider:... is the existing lighting sufficient for guests to see adequately throughout the night? do I need additional lighting to create the mood I want for my day? can I create the same effect with table lighting? (candles, lamps, etc) does the space / venue allow for me to hang additional lighting? The decision to add extra lighting can be based on safety for your guests, your overall mood and style of your day, and the functionality of the space. Always a good idea to chat with a professional about your ideas before getting too far down the track Image reposted from @festoonlightingperth and captured by @tylerbrownphotography See more

17.01.2022 Simply beautiful Styling a high bar table or coffee table doesn't need anything elaborate to make it sing. 16.01.2022 Weather considerations I had always wanted a beach ceremony. It made sense for us as the outdoors and water is so much a part of what we love BUT.... A beach ceremony came with some serious concerns - concerns that some couples often overlook ... Wind! Perth is officially Australia's windiest city (not something that we tell the tourists, right!!!) and this can play havoc with your set up and you. And really, does anyone actually enjoy the sand in their eyes as the wind whips through??? Additionally, if you have guests with mobility issues (think poor Gran and Grandad) getting across the sand may be a serious issue for them. Yes, a ceremony by the water is magical But the available magical hours and days for this are very hit and miss. It's not my job to talk you out of it but make sure you do your research before you lock it in. 15.01.2022 Honeymooning without the plane With old "Rona still causing havoc around the world, the option of an overseas honeymoon is non-existant So I'm seeing lots of couples trying to decide where they would like to go instead My tip is to figure out what it is that you want from your honeymoon and what you love to do This will then narrow down some options for you to consider.... For some, their honeymoon is about indulging in some luxury that they wouldn't usually treat themselves with. For others it is just about some quiet time together to recharge the batteries after the hectic lead up to their wedding day. With so many usual options unavailable at this time, you may have to settle for something that you wouldn't have otherwise chosen. But know that the time for just the two of you will be magic wherever you go Loving the serenity of this little set up by the very lovely team at @wildgoosecamping_margaretriver See more

15.01.2022 Why have dance lessons? The age-old tradition of the "First Dance" is so appealing for some couples ; and makes other couples roll their eyes And with the great divide over whether to include it or not, there are even fewer couples who now have dance lessons in the lead up to their big day. So here are a few reasons why dance lessons are a great idea for some couples:... it gives confidence to couples who are nervous about their dance but want to include it in their day loads of fun for a couple who LOVES to dance and wants to put on a show for their guests a great way to reconnect with your partner when so much becomes about making decisions about your wedding when else would you have dance lessons together?! No, dance lessons aren't every couples' jam but for those keen to do a first dance, it may prove to make it a little less uncomfortable and awkward Beautiful shot captured by @thedayweddings at the fabulous @nedlandsyachtclub. 15.01.2022 Wedding Waves Still wondering what hairstyle is best for you for your wedding day? SAVE THIS POST The talented Sarah, from @sarahtowers_hairstyling, who also works with @starletconcepts, shared her expertise with me ... Glam waves are a bridal classic. Here are some things to consider if you are planning on having this look for your day: Be mindful of the weather - Wind / humidity are not your friends. We can take al the right precautions during styling however Mother Nature can be cruel! Have a trial - Everyone's hair is different. We need to check that hold / sustainability and make sure the right tools and products are being used (the options are endless) Have realistic expectations - If those inspo pics you have your heart set on do not match your hair type be open to compromise. Layers! - Those waves need something to sit on. If your hair is all one length it will be very hard to create shape and hold. Be open to clip in hair extensions. They are great for adding some lush volume / layering / extra length. Trust the process - What looks like a simple wave can take an hour of prep work of turning you into a poodle before smoothing it out into that perfect wave. A bride's hair should compliment her dress, not compete with it - If you are choosing to wear your hair down make sure it won't be covering up the details. So much wisdom so make sure you save this post. And definitely follow Sarah @sarahtowers_hairstyling to see all her amazing work Image reposted from @nikkiavanzino See more

14.01.2022 Foliage Table Runners Many couples love the concept of having foliage as the centrepiece of their table setting. So many feel it is a cheap option as it is "just leaves" Spoiler alert...... "just leaves" (especially if you want it dense) does not mean it is a cheaper option ... If you can't fit this type of styling into your budget, consider other options such as: a thinner placement of foliage along your table using a fabric runner intermittent florals or foliage If it doesn't fit with your budget, I encourage you to think outside the box and consider other options So much love for this whole look created and reposted from @white_events See more

12.01.2022 Change the dates This makes so much sense to me Sadly we are still seeing some couples having to postpone their weddings because they, or some of their guests, are in the east coast of Australia and cannot get into WA. When budgets are already pushed to the max, I love the idea of sending a "Change The Date" electronically. ... It can still be in the style of your original stationery, but an electronic version just saves some money on paper, envelopes and postage. Well done @designspot_ for this awesome idea See more

11.01.2022 Try them all I love that the options for wedding cake flavours are sooo diverse that it allows you to choose something that sings of you But if you are like me and constantly struggle with option overload when it comes to choosing food why not ask for a sample pack? 10.01.2022 Direct your money to the things that matter to YOU I can't stress enough how important it is to know your budget and stick to it when you are planning your wedding. BUT that doesn't mean you have to scrimp on every item of your day ... Figure out what is important to you and direct the majority of your money to those elements. For the rest, find ways to cut back or do it cheaper / smarter to get that maximum bang for your buck Eg. If you want to have photographic memories forever. Find a great photographer. Is food and drinks a big focus for you - spend more of your budget on these items. Love all things pretty - direct more of your money towards styling or florals or your dress. Remember that so often you get what you pay for, but that doesn't mean that you have spend like you have a spare $100k sitting around! See more

10.01.2022 Heels or flats? What type of bride are you: a) Love me a pair of heels and I will be in them from start to finish ... b) I love the look of heels for the ceremony but these feet need to dance in flats so will be swapping out for the reception c) Flats all the way, baby I'm definitely a b). 10.01.2022 Trust your photographer Before you get too far into planning where you want your photos captured, at what time and all the rest, I urge you to speak with your photographer. Give them an idea of the look you want Heck even take in some examples that you've found on the internet!! As a creative, they should have some great suggestions for settings, backdrops and timings to capture the vision that you have for your photos. Especial...ly if you have chosen them based on the work they have done in the past They have the skills to see the potential and beauty where others can't So all I can say is: TRUST THEM and enjoy the process. 08.01.2022 Plan B does not mean Plan "But I don't need one" I've said it before and I will say it again.... Our weather is so very unpredicatable ... One week we are topping high 30degs. The next we are experiencing thunderstorms and 18degs So PLEASE don't be the dill who doesn't have a back up plan if you are having your ceremony OR reception outdoors. Yes, it might not be the dreamy outlook you have been longing for all of your life. But wet guests, running makeup and soggy shoes is not fun for anyone Plan B, people!!! See more

07.01.2022 Warm weather receptions With the weather heating up here in WA, who's considering an outdoor reception under the stars? We are so lucky in Perth to have many incredible options to do just this - think @nedlandsyachtclub @brookleighestate @assemblyyard @perthcityfarm @lamontsbishophouse @coreciderhouse_weddings @yoothamurra_homestead And that's just a taste!... 07.01.2022 Taking care of your guests With so many couples deciding not to go ahead with bonbonnieres (which I understand!), it is even more important that you think about how you can take care of your guests Yeah, I know that it's your wedding day Yes, I get that you are paying for their food and drinks ... BUT... It is also important to show your guests your appreciation that they have come to celebrate your wedding Even thoughtful little things can make your guests feel so welcome and involved in your day. Think: pre-ceremony bottles of water available for a hot summer's day some throw rugs to keep guests warm for an outdoors reception some comfortable (reserved) seating for your elderly guests a parent's favourite bottle of red tucked away behind the bar just for them It doesn't have to cost a load of money for you to show your guests that you are grateful that they came to your wedding.
