22.01.2022 LUCY WICKS APPROVED THE BRIDGE BARRIER FUNDING BUT NOW AGREES THE DESIGN IS TERRIBLE! Check out her interview on 2GO/MMM yesterday. Will LUCY stay true to her word and ensure the barrier design is revisited and is the best design for our bridge?? Will she ensure the community are consulted this time?? https://omny.fm//funding-for-bridge-fencing-at-st-huberts-

21.01.2022 What a fantastic view from the St Hubert’s Island bridge this morning! Central Coast Council could save $900,000 and give the existing railing a paint.

16.01.2022 This is the design of safety barrier, ( minus the flags) Central Coast Council feel will be most appropriate for our bridge! It will be installed down both sides, along with measures to prevent people climbing along the barrier from each end of the bridge Help us put a hold on this madness by liking and sharing our page

16.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY - Don't let council trick you with the "sanitised image" they put in your letterboxes. The proposed barrier will be ugly, unnecessary, costly and highly unsuitable. Council are holding a drop in session at Empire bay Hall this Thursday night.... COME ALONG AND TELL Council they need to keep all bridge users safe year-round, rather than preventing the handful of people choosing to jump from the bridge. You need to prebook - so please register on the following link. https://sthubertsislandbridge.eventbrite.com.au/

15.01.2022 DROP IN SESSION IS NOW FULL!! Apparently council have only allocated 13 spots! Which is not acceptable. Please email council [email protected]... And let them know you have the right to attend. This is the only community consultation provided and is not enough. Keep writing and making noise or this is how our bridge will look.

15.01.2022 Will the proposed railing even stop the bridge jumpers? Many residents feel the proposed railing wont deter people from jumping off the bridge, but will actually create more danger as people climb over the much higher slippery metal railing. Check out the footage of "Jump Rock" at Collins Beach in Many. Council spent up to $26,000 on this one and as you can see, its totally ineffective. https://youtu.be/sdoGNx0Rgeg

15.01.2022 You have all made a difference - the barrier project is being reviewed!! A new flyer will arrive in your letterbox this week. Have a read as it will provide a good update and help guide you to the next steps to ensure we avoid the original proposal going ahead! ... Thanks for your support.

14.01.2022 HOW CAN $900,000 BE SPENT ON THE UNWANTED ST HUBERTS ISLAND BRIDGE BARRIER WHEN COUNCIL ARE $223 MILLION IN DEBT? The funding for the barrier comes from the Commonwealth Urban Congestion Fund - designed to target congestion, improve traffic safety and increase network efficiency in urban areas. This was secured by Lucy Wicks in 2019. See below Lucy’s defence of the funds granted in 2019, despite community backlash. ( As seen in the peninsula news this week). Could it be better spent??

13.01.2022 A great article in the Peninsula News. There have been some further discussions with council, so our noise is working! I will post the outcome in the next day or two. Keep liking and sharing our page!

12.01.2022 MEETING WITH COUNCIL!! Bridgewarriors met with council to discuss the bridge barrier. (see minutes below) Sadly, Council ARE moving ahead with a barrier on the bridge. There has been a handful of residents complaining repeatedly over the years so Council now need to address a "Safety" issue. (Funnily when asked about the kids jumping from the Rip bridge, they replied its a "state road and not their responsibility"???????)... SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW? If we cant stop it, then do we need to tell Council to put up the right barrier for our bridge with the least impact to the views and the island itself? Bridgewarriors presented some better options to Council, who have promised in the drop in session yesterday, they will redesign the barrier and put it out for community consultation. WILL COUNCIL LIE TO US AGAIN? Keep Writing and making noise and tell them what you want!

08.01.2022 YOU LIED - Central Coast Council and Lucy Wicks! You promised to listen to the huge amount of negative feedback you received regarding the proposed railing and provide community consultation with options for the barrier. INSTEAD you are going ahead regardless and supplying residents with a sanitised version of the barrier, hoping to convince all that it will look better than it will. ... You haven't listened to the local communities concerns or justified exactly why you need to waste even more money on this unnecessary barrier. You have given residents less than a weeks notice for a drop in session, with the requirement to book online - Eliminating many participants. STOP THIS FURTHER WASTE OF MONEY AND FOCUS ON THE REAL SAFETY ISSUES ON THE BRIDGE AND SURROUNDS

07.01.2022 Things are stirring! Are Lucy Wicks and Council starting to revisit the proposed railing??? Below is a summary of recent events We have met with Jeff Sundstrom and Jane Smith who have both agreed to meet with Council and various groups (?) and have mentioned further consultation with the broader community. Also after much letter writing and phone calls, Lucy Wicks's office has contacted us to agree the proposed railing is not appropriate for the Island and will be speaking ...further with Council. Her office is also looking to meet with Police to discuss the "bridge jumpers" (There are even reports of Council officers inspecting the bridge during the week!) Both ABC News and NBN have been in contact to record an article or interview regarding the railing. (Check out the NBN interview below) https://www.nbnnews.com.au//residents-against-st-huberts-/ Please keep making noise by sharing and liking the page and write your messages and emails to Lucy Wicks, Jeff Sundstrom and Jane Smith to move forward on their promises.

02.01.2022 ARE WE THE FUN POLICE??? Check out the front cover of last weeks NOOSA Today. Queenslanders are able to embrace summer and let kids be kids no barrier in site!
