24.01.2022 TIPS ON HOW TO COMMUNICATE WHAT YOU NEED TO STAY SAFE... Set up some simple guidelines that and ask your family, friends and support network to follow. At all times be aware of the Health Department recommendations and requirements and keep yourself and those around you safe. Family and friends ... Family and friends, we love you very much and welcome you staying in touch but at the moment you will need to do that through phone, emails, social media or on video chat platforms we prefer Skype/ Zoom/ Facetime/ Messenger video. Let’s schedule some chats over the next week. Please do not visit in person as I will not be able to let you into the house. If you are able to help with shopping for essential supplies that would be very much appreciated, we can coordinate this by the communication methods outlined above and I know that you will understand when I ask that you leave the shopping outside for collection. If you currently provide transport for appointments etc I may still call on you for this assistance, please let me know if you are un-well or self-isolating and unable to continue assist in this way. Support Workers We are socially isolating so will not be participating in social activities outside our home apart from low key exercise in the local area. Some in-home supports may go ahead with great care or we may ask you to work with us outside rather than in our home. Transport for essential visits to medical and health professionals may still take place. Transport for shopping for essential supplies may still take place but I may also ask you to do the shopping for us. The new rules for safely supporting our family Please send me your organisation’s response to Covid-19, this should set out the responsibilities of support workers and our responsibilities in keeping everyone safe and limiting the spread of Covid-19 If you are unwell in any way please do not come to our home, you or your organisation needs to contact me if this happens If you do come to my home, please follow all Health Department guidelines for infection control as well as your own organisation’s policy. Always wash or sanitise your hands before entering the house and often during support Maintain a physical distance of 1.5metres wherever possible - we understand that this will not be possible when providing personal care, if available please wear gloves and a mask at those times. During essential travel we will travel on the back seat to maintain some physical distance. Travel should be directly to and from the appointment/shop. Please ensure your car has sufficient fuel for the trip to avoid having to stop to purchase fuel. See more
