25.01.2022 Finally! Children who are attending a boarding school in Queensland and reside in either NSW or ACT have been granted a quarantine exemption. Thank you to the ICPA state branches for your continued advocacy and action on such a frustrating and worrying time for these families. #nobordersforboarders

24.01.2022 ICPA (Aust) would like to capture the stories at the heart of what makes our association so unique and special with a focus on why it is important for families ...to get behind ICPA (Aust) by joining or renewing their membership. The Faces of ICPA campaign is calling families to submit a photo with a quote or caption about how the ICPA has helped you. We would like to then showcase some of these entries over Facebook across the next month as we launch our 2021 ICPA membership drive so we can celebrate who we are and why the ICPA is important to so many families. We extend an invitation to all members to come on board with the campaign and share a photo and caption giving an example of how ICPA helped you. Please send your submissions through to [email protected] or via the ICPA (Aust) Facebook messenger page. 20.01.2022 It’s day 2 of the annual state conference today! We thoroughly enjoyed the presentations, industry updates, portfolio updates of what has been successfully lobbied following last years conference and the discussions and debate that surrounded some very interesting motions yesterday. We again look forward to another great day hearing all the important issues for small, rural and remote schools!

20.01.2022 Motion feedback - Living Away From Home Allowance - this is one of the reasons it is so important to support your local ICPA Branch - this funding is subject to change yet is to vital to rural families being able to send children to boarding school each year. This motion in particular is one that continually needs to be brought to the attention of relevant Departments and Ministers. Whilst it is disappointing there is no changes at this point, we are pleased that the ICPA State Branch is remaining vocal on this matter.

15.01.2022 URGENT- AGM, MEETING & SOCIAL NIGHT POSTPONED due to overnight heavy falls, 3 of our 4 executive committee members, as well as a great number of other members, are flooded in! As we hope to have as many members present at the meeting and social night as possible we’ve made a call to shift the date to a tentative new date in 2 weeks time, of Friday the 13th of March @ the Nebo Hotel, 4:00pm for a 4:30pm start. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause in shuffling your schedules and hope as many can still join us on that future date. Rain is always a blessing!! 14.01.2022 It’s conference time!! The 2020 Qld State Conference is underway, for 2 days. We have moved to an online platform as sadly a physical conference schedule to take place in Roma could not got ahead due to covid restrictions. Our president Jessie Bethel is logged in as a registered delegate. We are looking forward to presenting 3 motions on behalf of the branch, relating to inadequate internet and phone connections, a lack of IT technical support and rural school bus conveyance allowance. 09.01.2022 With rural families now taking on lessons from home amongst the COVID-19, it is going to seriously strain our already limited data allowances. ICPA is continuing to advocate for solutions during this time. It seems greater data usage is being granted, free of charge, and is going to be monitored as this unfolds. If you require assistance with providing lessons remotely please don’t hesitate to contact our state branch.

08.01.2022 Our Qld State Branch President Tammie - have a listen if you’re available this Sunday

05.01.2022 IMPORTANT - PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY BELOW RE DISTANCE EDUCATION AND WATCH THE CLIP FEATURING SOME LOCAL WOMEN IN CENTRAL QLD. Text shared from the Federal Branch Page:- Until this year no one truly realised the impact of having to teach your own children when you have no other choice. For many of the geographically isolated families ICPA represents however, this is a way of life. They have to do this on a daily basis, month after month, year after year a...s there is no other choice for educating their children where they live. It doesn’t work without an adult in the home schoolroom to support the students. There is however no recognition of this role and its importance to the success of geographically isolated distance education. ICPA continues to advocate for recognition and hope that data gained from this survey can be used to help us with this advocacy. See more

05.01.2022 Feedback from a 2019 motion regarding internet reliability for rural schools - this one is of particular relevance to the rural schools in our districts. This is a recurring issue for those in the bush, both for schools and those undertaking distance education. We will continue to raise the lack of reliability in the hope of having strong reliable internet services

04.01.2022 Pop this on your 2021 planners - it's going to be big - 50th year of ICPA Qld. #iamICPA
