17.01.2022 While the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have been dominating headlines, ICPA (Aust) has been working hard in the background on a number of other topics and issues which affect our rural and remote families. We welcomed the news in June, of the Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) for rural and remote students wishing to undertake tertiary study, however have been seeking further detail on modifications to the initial TAP announcement. ICPA (Aust) has had the opportunity to work ...closely with Minister Andrew Gee MP's office on this recently. We look forward to further details of the implementation, criteria and application process for the Tertiary Access Payment and will keep members informed as information comes to hand. 03.01.2022 ICPA Australia and all State Councils were represented at the Regional Boarding School Roundtable convened yesterday by Andrew Gee MP joining other peak bodies to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 border restrictions on interstate boarding students. A long-term, nationally-consistent approach to this issue needs to be found to alleviate the uncertainty and challenges being faced by rural and remote students and their families who rely on boarding schools to access equitable educational opportunities.
