20.01.2022 As Remembrance Day coincides with NAIDOC Week in 2020, it is a great opportunity to not only honour all Defence Force personnel who served and died for our country, but the important role our First Nations people played in past and current conflicts. Up until 1949, Indigenous Australians were banned from joining the Australian Defence Force. Unofficially though, more than a thousand Indigenous soldiers served in the First and Second World Wars (others report over 6000 in WWI...I alone). The Australian War Museum has over 45 representations of Indigenous stories on display. During NAIDOC week and on Remembrance Day, we acknowledge ALL Defence Force personnel who are no longer with us LEST WE FORGET #ICYSinc #NAIDOC2020 #remembranceday2020
